I am enjoying creating this blanket. I am very much a beginner and the tutorials are invaluable. I would be struggling with just a written pattern. Really pleased with what I have achieved so far 😊

Last week I had to go down to 3.5 to make the correct measurements so I carried on using for the candy canes. So I used 3.5 for the swirl and it's 1 cm short. Have had to really stretch while blocking so am thinking on going back to 4 mm, finding this pattern very difficult to get gauge. Hope it all fits at the end.

Anyone else’s lady bird yarn significantly fuller than their cream? Like my cream yarn would probably work well with a smaller hook but my lady bird could stand to go up to a 4.5mm and because of this i can really see the red through the cream (it doesn’t bother me its giving crushed candy canes) just wondering if anyone else has the same?? Love this blanket so far, as a seasoned crocheter i am working significantly faster and finding i have finished the week way before the next video comes out but i like it because my hands need the break lol (i am also chronically ill and have been off work for the past few weeks due to hospital visits so that’s probably why its going very fast for me) hope everyone who is struggling figures it out its a great beginner project with all the different techniques and with one person teaching it to you!

I have a very full cream and a thin Jade color. Noticed it a lot on the v stitches last week but I’m not too concerned!
@effiemills52512 ай бұрын
Yes, and my daughter commented that she had found the same issue of varying thickness when she has used this yarn in other projects.
@alisonhutchinson4123Ай бұрын
Yes My cream, pink and peach are all much finer than the other colours which isn't looking great on candy cane tapestry stitching.😢
@capricornstitchesАй бұрын
I have this problem with brands across the board. In my video of making this blanket I mention that I picked up yarns from two different brands because the thickness isn’t the same across colors.

Is there anything in particular? I reworked the jumper panels a few time before I was happy with them, and I would like to think I’m a competent crocheter. I find the written pattern very hard to follow and keep rewatching sections of the video for help.

I can't follow the written pattern at all so just watching through the video and rewatching the bits I'm stuck at.

I have found working from the videos is much easier than the written pattern but it would help if we had more visuals of the full size panels rather than the swatches
@alisonbarrow57112 ай бұрын
I will often use a notebook and break down the pattern into little bite size pieces that I can follow,ticking off as I go along.I have often had to rip back but definitely user error 😂The videos are helpful but I will use other crochet tutorials to look at techniques (popcorn stitch was one) Knowing exactly where to put your hook is the hardest thing in crochet 😅!

How big should the circle be? Mine curled bad so I had to stretch out my stitches. I'm thinking of not doing the last round of double crochet in the green because it's already huge. Anyone know the measurements?

Is there different instructions I should be following as a leftie? I can't have the RS facing me and work from the right I need to start at the other side. I'm worried its going to look wrong
@rachwilson47912 ай бұрын
Start from the left, it'll work out just means your stripes will slant the other way
@AlexisTevendale2 ай бұрын
It may be picky but I think it looks better the right handed way. Took me a while but i worked out how to do it. If any lefties feel the same work each row backwards changing the first stitch to a ch3 doing ch2 in yarn A then pulling up yarn D to make it a ch3 for rows 2 and 5

I to am struggling to follow the pattern, as good as they are it is just far to confusing for me to follow the written pattern and the Swatch samples confuse me as well. Oh well... i shall keep trying, but i am still only on week one :(

I have noticed that the stitches that she is doing are not the name of the typical stitches that I do. I had to definitely adjust which made things a little easier as I worked the pattern! I hope that you can find your groove soon! 🫶🏻

If it’s because you learned with US terms i recommend taking the time to go through the written pattern and changing the stitches to US so you aren’t constantly looking for the translation! I have had to do this with a lot of patterns because i learned UK but the projects i choose usually are US so i have a hard time with it too! We really need to decide who is right lol

My red and cream mosaic looks like a string vest. Should go down a hook size to hide the floats. Going to rip back and rethink what crochet pattern I can substitute.

Is anyone considering using a larger hook for the tapestry sections? My tapestry work does tend to be a bit stiff and tight.
@jjjosie_2 ай бұрын
i think i probably will! it’s a bit more forgiving to go up half a size plus when i do that it usually doesn’t affect the overall pattern (from my experience)
@effiemills52512 ай бұрын
@@jjjosie_ just to let you know, I stayed with the 4mm hook and the tension worked out OK. I think it’s because they are treble crochet rather than double which is what I had worked on previously. I did try a few repeats on a 4.5mm hook first and they were a bit too loose.

This blanket is absolutely beautiful, I have wanted to purchase the kit, but I’m struggling to follow along the tutorial before investing in the kit. I would love if the full blanket was shown and how to attach each section. I struggle following written patterns as many people do. It would be great if you could show the full blanket in close up sections for those of us who do struggle. I am a crocheter learned via KZbin, I know how to carry yarn, have made gingham blankets with no problem. Thank you for the time you take to post all these tutorials, I appreciate the time you take to video these tutorials and you are very very talented. Some of us learn differently and struggle. Many blessings 😊🧶🧶🧶🎀

The written pattern says to use pink and peaches for the pink candy swirl, but the KZbin video says pink and cream - I'm confused
@lindal10262 ай бұрын
The written pattern for the Pink Peppermint Swirls says use pink & cream (not peach) I will be using peach to match the panels I already made AND match the picture on the pattern.🤷🏼♀️
@juliebeattie24662 ай бұрын
I did pink and peach as well. I thought it was the same as the stripes so didn't read the pattern to see it should have been cream. My fault. 🤦♀️ Looks ok and hopefully not too short on peach later.
