Wow as a first time crocheter you made that magic ring so simple I didn’t have to do it 1038292739272 times lol

Horray nearly completed the gingerbread house blanket and just got the edging to do. Already use the blanket in bed its so nice and warm. Feeling quite impressed with myself turning out stunning. Bit of a show off here but then all Sagatarius like to show off. Lol

Does anyone know how many stitches you should have for the last row?
@debbienewton9095 күн бұрын
The pattern is sometimes confusing, but honestly it is so very elementary that I've changed almost every stitch. This pattern would have been the perfect opportunity to teach different stitches with color changes, or at least every week. Is it meant to be a fully beginner pattern throughout with same stitches over and over and over? Even beginners can learn new stitches, especially with videos and instructions. How about Wattle stitch, Star stitch, Front Post Treble, Sieve stitch, etc...??? None are so complicated that they can't be included. Love all the colors, but the pattern is a total drag.

How do you just skip half the pattern and just move on without showing us??it’s actually really irritating

I didn't find this in time to make it for this christmas, but I'm definitely saving it to make for my best friend for next christmas! (I hope I'll still be able to get the yarn somewhere when I do 😅)

Just finished my blanket and loved the process. Added more rows at the end as didn’t want fringes and wanted to show most of the colours. Will be back next year to see what the next CAL is.

The way i hold the yarn, this stitch is impossible. Trying to figure out a way to make it work and not be so slow, but it is extremely frustrating.

Just found this and trying to work it. It is very beginner level and the stitches are so simplistic, it's actually boring. I changed a couple of stitches and am liking it now. Love all the colors! I choose Yarn Bee Soft Secret and all the colors are food names!

Just a suggestion to make life a bit easier. Decorate the house first before starting the lights, it's so much easier whilst the house is a small panel. Finally, if you don't fancy doing the surface crochet, use the wool to embroider with using a daisy chain stitch. It is exactly the same as the surface crochet, but is so much easier to stitch exactly how and where you want your string to go. Just a thought. Hope this helps. ❤

I finally finished my blanket today! Its lovely, thank you so much. The videos were really useful when the written pattern was a little confusing. I also loved the weekly pattern release system because i found focusing on one pattern at a time was way more approachable than if i had been given the full pattern from the start.

Treble is a double crochet. Wow. I completely made the entire square with wrong stitches using actual trebles instead of doubles. I was NOT aware that you use different terms than the ones we use in the US. I am so upset I will have to frog my whole work.

I’m upset I had to frog the entire first row because the directions in both the video and pattern weren’t very clear 😭 I realized after you have to do 4 extra switches on top of the 40, 100, 40 😭😭😭😭
@Korinasaurous27 күн бұрын
That is not a double crochet, that is a single crochet.
@Mssmiles987 күн бұрын
UK double is a single in American crochet. A treble is a double. I dunno why, either.

on round 2 of the gingerbread boarder doing the slight waves - i’ve counted my stitched 5 times and have 184 (2 in corner, 40, 100, 40, 2 in corner). when working the pattern of 8 stitches (double, half, 4 single, half, double) i have 1 extra stich at the end which would make me end on a half double. i’m ready to just give up on this blanket. what am i doing wrong?!
@philastokes7 күн бұрын
I would just do a treble at the end and continue on. I marked every 8 stitches and it is amazing how often I had to go back and do the last wave or two because I had left out or done too many of one stitch. The markers keep me correct,

Thank you for your efforts. I wish a video had been made of all the lines and stitches, because the written pattern contains a break in the repeated lines that are not written, and returning to the next lines leads to an error. I was excited and felt hopeful. Please accept my regards.

I'm never making one of these Sidar crochet alongs again. These tutorials are dreadful. On row 2... "I'll meet you at row 12". Row 12... "Work your slip stitch into the required stitch". Could you not have showed us what that stitch is? For the love of God, never again.
@beverlyhitchon490129 күн бұрын
@Reroluelisre oh no! I've had the exact same complaint with another of their kits, the blossom one. The written instructions totally contradicted the tutorial and the tutorial only covered one row! I have just briefly watched these tutorials as my daughter has bought me this kit for Christmas! Your comment doesn't bode well! I was hoping it was just a one off with another tutor and her format! I spent more time searching the comments for help! I hope you have managed to iron out some of your issues and wish you luck. It's so disappointing as the blankets are gorgeous and the kits are reasonably priced! Just a shame the tutorials don't meet the same standard. 😢

Is there any particular reason to do the lights with post trebles as opposed to just switching the color and continuing with half trebles? I don’t think I can be bothered to fuss with the post stitches.
@LearningToLinka23 күн бұрын
Because they create a slightly different texture and look that makes the lights seem a little raised. They’re not hard or any more difficult than a standard treble

Are we joining chain space with chain space? Or from the first stitch to first stitch? For the side panel to the lights square

@YetAnotherytc1234Ай бұрын
I learned in a graphgan video that if you put the hook under the 'float' as you noted before 50:10 and work it into the stitch you don't have that line. There has to be a way to keep the back as neat as the front.
@gretchenlitwiler2444Ай бұрын
What is the purpose of turning the work?
@ReroluelisreАй бұрын
These crochet alongs are so bad. You clearly had 3 stitches left at the end of row 3 and so did I but you said skip one and crochet into the last, and the pattern says that too, so why do i have 1 extra stitch from 95? Every single week it's something.
@DUD3Y3SАй бұрын
Something that REALLY helped this week is to use clothes pegs to pin on the bobbins when they are not in use! Prevents a big tangled mess and makes it alot easier to crochet on the couch 😅
@juliacannings509Ай бұрын
For the sweets why didn’t you just do puff stitches ?, it’s so much easier than these surface ones , is it possible to do this ? Or will the pattern not allow it I’d rather put them in as I crochet as puffs ?

@sarahtaylor185Ай бұрын
I know this was posted a while ago, but I just started the blanket last week and I've finally made it to week 4. I think this might be helpful: Every time we turn the row, we need the stitches below us to be in the "7" format as it's said in the video, in order to make our FP stitches. What I've done is skipped the first stitch in the row (you can't tell once everything is done), in order to get the "7" layout. Obviously because we are turning, the stitches are in a backwards "7" so in order to get the frontwards "7", I've skipped the first stitch. This will also mean that we will technically skip the last stitch in the row as well as it doesn't have a top to the "7", just a post (it goes into the chain 2). I hope that makes sense and is possibly helpful. I'm not a new crocheter, but certainly not the most experienced this method just helped with both the stitch count and the "7" visual. Absolutely LOVE this pattern and the video guide, and that lots of people are trying it out!
