A lot of people below are complaining of set-up issues. It's an adjustment thing that takes a few minutes to correct. Online shops are not going to unpack loads of boxes to set guitars up - certainly not cheaper options. If the factory sits in another country having a different climate then the neck will probably move... what is more critical is the fret work. Shops should adjust stuff - but they are more interested in shifting volume rather rhan quality. Its not the guitars fault.

The position 2 and 4 sounds on the Sire have much more pronounced (and pleasing to my ears) "cluck" than the Schecter. I like the slightly more sparkling edge to the clean tones on the neck pickup on the Sire too. For the price it is a steal. But I agree with you about overzealous frets rolling. I just had a refret of my prized strait's custom John Buscarino slab quilted maple on hard rock maple neck, with 6105s. LOVE the 6105 feel and clean bends etc. But the frets were rolled the way shorter frets might have been and that took too much playable fret width off and pullofffs can slip off the treble side of the neck on the high E. I am gonna probably not get back to exactly the width I want until a couple of feet levels into the future. That is the only reason I would hesitate getting a Sire Just curious, could you point me to one of your videos where you demonstrate the patch you use for clean in this video? It is gorgeous!

The difference in radius can be substantial in terms of how low of an action you can get away with, assuming similar play style, string tension, when it comes to bends fretting out. Assuming the guitars do have a consistent enough the radius, the sire should fret out quite a bit sooner. That's not a concern if ones action isn't low enough. But the lower you go, provided other variables remaining the same, the more stuff like this can matter. It can be the difference between "bend chokes entirely" and "it still rings well enough for me". Which isn't to say that a "feel" difference between 9.5 and 14 is always as big as people assume. I'm just describing a scenario where the action is quite low. A more circular radius (even if the visible difference between 9.5 and 14 is small) matters more and more as the action is lowered, in the specific sense described.
@Dimiguitar2 жыл бұрын
For example, my PRS runs into radius limitations, provided specific string tension, other set up variables, my playstyle, even my tolerance for fret out "zing", at about 1mm -- 1.2mm on the high E at 12th fret. On the lower end of the spectrum, hovering at 1mm, I can just about get a two note bend. And I can even make these fret out entirely if picking hard enough. On the flipside, a 12 inch Edwards of mine is very discernibly more forgiving. The scale length can come into play too (due to changing string tension), but yeah. The big difference there is the radius imo. But sure. Go to 1.5mm and you'll have to bend very far to see these differences (if you notice them at all, and if they even show up at all -- at some point, they won't, because contact to the next fret won't be there at all). Ps: I'm assuming well leveled frets. Of course if that's out of whack, all bets are off often -- but even then, more likely imo that more circular radius runs into issues.
@ShinMadero2 жыл бұрын
If your setup is good, I don't think the radius will limit how low your action can be. I have guitars from 9.5 inch to 16 inch radius and I've never had fretting out problems even with low action. Just keep the neck straight and radius the bridge correctly.
@Dimiguitar2 жыл бұрын
@@ShinMadero how could it not? With a rounder radius, bending a string will hit the following fret earlier than with a flatter radius (assuming similar fretwork on all instruments). The neck being straighter can help in certain parts of the neck, as a relief curvature has to go up somewhere. But radius is still a limiting factor -- due to physics, really. I wouldn't think radiusing the bridge to follow the frets (which is usually welcome for most people, sure) is going to change that.

@@Dimiguitargreed 100%. I’ve got a few guitars but my most used ones tend to have fairly flat, “shred-ish” necks on them and I’m fairly fanatical about my setups. One major departure is my Ibanez JS (Japanese Prestige version so not too bad of an instrument) which has a 9.5” radius. It needs a higher action, without doubt, to avoid choking out on bigger bends up towards the dusty end of the fretboard. These comparisons are done with exactly the same amount of relief etc. as my other guitars. Caveat-I’m definitely not a luthier, but I’ve built a couple of very playable cheap kits and my mates get me to do setups on their guitars. I get paid in cheap beer so I guess I mustn’t be too good at it right?🤔😆

I got Schecter Nick Johnston (Seafoam. Green, Ebony fingerboard SSS Traditional) from Thomman 2020 May, it had a lot of fretbuzz on the 5th and the 6th string, on the 3rd string as well (Local luthier couldn't solve the issue) so I returned it. Then, after I returned it, my local Guitar shop received Schecter NJ(Ebony fingerboard, different colours) sadly they all had fretbuzz issues and they're still sitting unsold. I really like that guitar and I'm still waiting to find locally one with a nice factory setup no matter if Ebony or Maple fingerboard p.s the factory setup with 10-46 was really stiff and it was relatively hard to bend notes in comparison to my Fender Strats or Charvel/Jackson with 10-46 or 11-49 strings

Just bought the Schecter today, coincidentally. I chose it over several other “strat” models (fender, G&L Tribute Series, Tagima) primarily because of the sculpted neck heel and not having that damn knob so close to the bridge pickup. @@SingPsalms I like the look of the Pacifica - it looks good as a round the house guitar and for taking to jams. Some are beginning to creep up in price almost all the time - so they are certainly less of a bargain, at least for the top of the line versions - still the good thing is that all of them appear to be quality instruments. Best, Pete.

Idk but for me sire sounds more mature. No offense at all, the shecter specs is great with ebony fingerboard btw

Schecter wins. That volume knob position on traditional strats is Lunacy and a deal breaker for many.

Here in Canada at present, the S7 is $1149, the Schecter NJ is $1249. Hense the NJ in my opinion is the one yo go with...edit: we are getting robbed based on pricing in Canada!

why don't you use a tremolo pedal , instead of shaking your guitar

Yo noto que cuando atacas la cuerda suavemente tiene mas sustain la guitarra schecter que la sire, la sire tiene menos sustain es mi opinion🎸 de ahi en fuera pues todo bien con la sire estéticamente es muy bonita.

I notice that when you attack the string gently, the Schecter guitar has more sustain than the Sire, the Sire has less sustain, that's my opinion🎸 From there on out, everything is fine with the Sire, aesthetically it's very pretty

There is nothing on the Shecter that can justify the extra 300 pounds, I would go for Sire.😊

The Schecter seems to have more treble and bite in all positions.
