Good sound check. It was difficult to discern a lot of difference on my end over the tiny laptop speakers, but the mids and bass knob definitely fattened it up. Very good looking bass.
@delucajohn2000Ай бұрын
@@austinburns4213 I was really surprised how much control over the tone the mid knob has. I was really able to get some great tones just by boosting or cutting and then adjusting the frequency knob which was very nice. The bass knob is very sensitive so I only boosted it a slight bit or I would have had to lower the input gain on my sound interface but adjusting lower mids really helped to tame a lot of that.

It's a riff from a Clutch song called (In the Wake of) The Swollen Goat, LOL. Now that you point it out though, it definitely sounds like it could be Rage riff as well.

Great to have a video on this so quick after release. Thank you! I've been trying to find a weight for these. Could you stick it on some scales for us please?
@delucajohn20002 ай бұрын
Sadly it is not the lightest bass. I just checked on my bathroom scale and it is a little over 10 pounds which looks to convert to 4.6 kilos. Since this one is ash, that might make it heavier so the alder ones could possibly be lighter.

They are "back ordered" until January, is what I heard. I'm a tad miffed. I ordered the Z7 Ash 5 string.

They seem to be really behind on these 2024 models. I think I ordered this one in January of 2024 if I am not mistaken or maybe early February and it just came so I was surprised it took that long.

@@delucajohn2000I’m pretty sure they had a dispute with Musicman. I noticed that the first reveal of the Z’s had the 3+1 or 4+1 headstock, but now that they’re released the 4 strings are just straight across
@AllAboutBassesАй бұрын
It's just me or you can't also stop looking at the headstock? It drives me crazy that it doesn't match. I love the natural color on the body tho. And these Z7's do sound really good
@delucajohn2000Ай бұрын
@@AllAboutBasses one thing you can’t tell is the back of the neck is painted the same color as the headstock. It’s kind of interesting to see in person but I totally get that some might not be a fan and respect that.
@PeterGrabner-jj6vt20 күн бұрын
The Headstock is not so different , compared with the Fretboard. Must be the lights. I got the same, one week ago and the Fretboard is also really dark. Same as the neck. So beautiful, looks like chocolate ! Not so good : active is so much louder than passive. The same thing happens by using the bass - Poti/ active. And this absolutely beautiful Z7 swampash is not on the lighter side.

that sounds so good! are you able to slap it easily with the neck pickup?
@delucajohn20002 ай бұрын
I admit I am not a very big slap bass player but the neck pickup didn't seem like it got in the way. When i do slap, I hit closer to the neck so it could be different for others.

sick bass, hate that the natural finish is 100 quid more though lol. also wish the z3s came in more nice colours.
@delucajohn20002 ай бұрын
I was very surprised the natural finish was more but it does have an ash body where the colored ones seem to be alder which I guess is why they could be charging more. I have heard there are some shortages with ash so that might be why they are charging more but that really is a guess on my side.

The headstock not matching the fingerboard would drive me nuts. I mean, it's not even in the same ballpark. Looks like mahogany instead of roasted maple. I'm pretty sure Sire is staining their roasted maple necks to make them darker, which is unappealing to me.
@HarryPothead4304Ай бұрын
I had this line in the wood on the headstock to my fender elite bass i ordered online. I sold it because of that and bought the same identical bass without the imperfection.

@@eckie4679 Sire is either over-roasting their necks, or roasting them and then staining them darker for some reason, or both. From what I've seen of Sire roasted necks that break or crack, it's roasted maple covered with a very dark stain. That begs the question, why stain a neck so dark? What are they hiding, especially when it's so visually unappealing.
