That's great! Elton stopped a concert for me in L.A. in 1986 ... pulled a spotlight on me and took time for a photo shoot... then began his 4th number, Rocket Man. Ten years later, he stopped another performance to accept another two dozen red roses from me at Crisler Arena. He is a musical genius who touched my life in ways I could have never imagined.🌹

Elton John would not be who he is today without Bernie Taupin, the incredibly gifted songwriter who penned most of the lyrics of his songs. Elton's moving, complex, beautiful compositions and fantastic showmanship made for some glorious music. I was at this concert and it changed me. I will never forget it.
@aviatorpianokraft3 жыл бұрын
I disagree, not because Taupin isn't a great lyricist, he is. The first thing that gets your attention in a song is not the lyrics, but the melody, the tune. If it's a great melodic and rhythmical sound, it's catchy and sticks in your mind, then you will hum that tune all day and then maybe dig deeper into the words of the song. Just my opinion.
@anthonydallarosa83143 жыл бұрын
@@aviatorpianokraft you also need to recognize the people that were involved in the production, mixing, arrangement, etc. A great player or great singer is simply just that but without Bernie and the other crazy talented people that worked with Elton we would not have the personification of beauty that some of his biggest hits present. People focus on the star only to forget that it’s the entirety of the night sky that makes it beautiful. 👍
@honumoorea8733 жыл бұрын
@@aviatorpianokraft Yeah...the first thing you may see is the beautiful ass or eyes of a girl...but in the end what you will love is her brain. So...melody is part of it but the lyrics are what make a song...a real piece of art, rarely the melody only.

This particular video is from a TV show that obviously had a very small audience and he appears to be lip syncing, because he never moves away from the microphone like that when he's singing live. Plus the sound is way too full/produced to be live. I also know that there isn't a serious Elton fan alive that doesn't know how much he credits Bernie for his success. You make it sound like he's a glory seeker or something. That said, I also agree with Roger Hawkins above.

I was at the age of 14 back in 2000, living in a one-horse-town in my home country, Brazil. One night, I was watching tv and, during the break of the sopa opera, an advert for a collection of 1970's music flashed on the screen. I couldn't care less about that old people's music. I was a teenager who hadn't even been around until 1986. Only, one of those songs caught my ears. I looked at the screen and saw a bespectacled, strange looking fellow. His glasses were huge! His voice got into my years and I felt something so good inside. I waited for the commercial to appear on the screen again, so that I could discover who sang that song and its title. I had to read it quickly! Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John. Cut the long story short, I asked my mom where Elton John's vinyl, which she'd bought to me several months prior was. I hadn't given it too much thought because it didn't have The Lion King songs on it. I looked for that LP for a few days until I finally found it on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I rushed to the record player, eager to listen to the song whose chorus had enchanted me from the word go. I will never forget the moment I heard Elton getting to "The bluuues..." and the band heavenly singing "Aaaaaaa", while the drums sound sort of ripped my heart. I felt like being taken to another dimension. Seriously! As they say, the rest is history. I've been a die-hard fan since then.

I have these glasses tattooed on my arm for my Momma. She loved Elton. My Dad surprised her before she passed away with tickets to see him. He played for 4 hours, just him and the piano. I miss her so and I am so grateful she was able to experience the joy of seeing him.

So 😥😔 I was so young!! When I lost my daughter 💔😢 and she loved this music 🎶🎵she had no choice. I played this all of the time. And I took her to all of my concerts here in Florida in the late 80s and 90s. Never was able to see Elton unfortunately until after she was older and didn't care. I miss that girl so much it kills me

When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land? I should have stayed on the farm I should have listened to my old man You know you can't hold me forever I didn't sign up with you I'm not a present for your friends to open This boy's too young to be singing, the blues So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road What do you think you'll do then? I bet that'll shoot down your plane It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics To set you on your feet again Maybe you'll get a replacement There's plenty like me to be found Mongrels who ain't got a penny Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough Back to the howling old owl in the woods Hunting the horny back toad Oh I've finally decided my future lies Beyond the yellow brick road

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John masterfully conveys the disillusionment with the trappings of fame, offering a nuanced reflection on the pursuit of personal authenticity over material success. Its sophisticated arrangement and evocative lyrics create a profound sense of introspection, resonating with listeners on both an emotional and intellectual level.
