I have to say, I have never sailed before, but your video makes me want to learn.

Hi Shawn. If you have access to water with clean air (not too many surrounding hills) then you can have fun doing it. I have found eBay and Craigslist to be a good start for finding a sailboat. If you have a local marina look there too. Take your time, start small, buy something fully equipped but cheap, and use the "How to Sail" type videos on KZbin to get started. Or ask a local sailor for help. Good Luck!

Thank you, Claude. Not everyone may agree but I just tried to make it informative and somewhat entertaining without too much editing effort.

Awesome video thanks. I am hoping to purchase a Siren 17 this spring. Can you tell me what the Garmin Electronic device is as it looks like it is for sailing?

Hi John, sorry, I must have missed your post. It is a Garmin Instinct Solar. I got mine for about $170.00. www.garmin.com/en-US/p/679335 Rus

what size of trolling motor are you using there and mostly, what length of shaft?
@RusinVanDyke3 жыл бұрын
Hi Enfe. I sold the Siren 2 months ago and bought a trimaran - Gypsy Wind. I believe it is the standard long shaft unit sold by Minn Kota - 36# thrust - old model. Going into heavy headwinds it was just capable. Primarily for getting in and out of the launch, not for tooling around too much.

Sv Little Gem I know this is an older vlog. If you are still sailing, hou should get an raymarine st 1000 autotiller pilot to help with steering the boat. I have allways had one to help me with steering . Gerard. Hi Gerard, I could not respond as usual on KZbin - your comment would not open, so I copied and pasted here. I agree with you. I currently own this trimaran and use that auto-pilot, that came with the boat. It is very nice! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJivlXugg8h_oLc Thanks, Rus

Sir, who makes that tiller lock? I don't like the design of the tiller tamer and think it's overpriced.

Hello James, I bought mine a couple years ago and it appears that fellow has retired - he had the best price. Here are two options - store.ruddercraft.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=129 defender.com/en_us/wavefront-tillerclutchx-kit?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu9f-r9PA_wIV6MzICh3m0An1EAQYAiABEgLWafD_BwE#615=36917 You should try searching to see if there are less expensive sellers. I have the standard tiller clutch and use it regularly and like it, especially when the boat is well balanced. Good luck. Rus. wavefrontmarine.com/
