The crew of the Starship Deimos has detected an undecipherable signal from Epsilon Lyrae IV. Upon arrival, there are no lifesigns from the humanoid civilization known to have inhabited the class M planet. All there is is a damnable, irresistible signal from an unknown source on the planet below.

Nice story. Great work! I always like when these productions use actors who are not stereotypical Hollywood 'hotties' and 'hunks'. Not everyone can have that look. And I like the simple long-sleeve T-shirts as costumes. A simple production that gets the story across. Works for me! Wish I could get my ST novel made into something like this. All the best!

Gene Roddenberry was very strict about his actors gaining weight. James Doohan was a close friend of his and he was in danger of losing his job halfway through the second season he was told "Shape up or ship out." ( from his book beam me up Scotty) This is necessary to maintain military appearance and standards

It is a reference to the crystal entities of Tie-yun II which tried to impose their order on the Galaxy until defeated by the crew of the Deimos. Xartheb is a heavy-gravity icy world orbiting Barnard's Star. Settlers live in pressurized domes, and tend to be bulky but very strong Humans. They're very stoic as well. From the Orion Universe fanzines published in 1979-2016.

I enjoyed this very much, the only problem I have with the story is, the beaming down of the science team when they had a ship wide alarm and loss of power. It would have made more sense if the team beamed down and that their presence on the planet after beam down triggered the unknown anomaly to create and/or cause the power loss and strange behavior of the crew. while I realize this is just work of fiction, if a Captain or person or persons of authority knowingly would send crew members into harms way without at least having continued communication and/or a plan to retrieve said crew leaves a big plot hole and makes the Captain appear to be cold and callous towards her crew. (my opinion) I would also have enjoyed a side bar moment between the Captain and the science officer, as to his surprise and apparent reluctance to go on the survey team.

There were the Greek Sirens and the German Lorelei. Star Trek: TAS had an episode on the Lorelei. It drove men to their deaths with an enchanting, captivating sound. Odessus wanted to hear the Siren's music so he his men tie him to a mast and plug their ears. So he was the only man to hear the sound and live to tell the tale. I believe that women were not effective.
