Another brilliantly acted, scripted, and excellent story of the heroic actions of wonderful, brave, & beloved people. I’m crying a lot of tears because of their sacrifice…for the salvation of our entire galaxy. THIS is in the truest genre of what Gene Roddenberry fought for, & brought to each & every one of us. Brilliantly done!! Thank you all. In loving memory of the Perrys…

Wow, Southern Star Trek. It occurs to me that we never did hear a southern accent on the Enterprise and now here's a ship with ONLY southern accents. (Does the Andorian have a southern accent too?)

Dr. McCoy of TOS, Dr. Kate Pulaski of TNG, Chief Engineer Trip Tucker from ENT, Dr. Boyce from "The Cage," no, Star Trek has plenty of folks with Southern accents. Fan Films reflect their makers. There are Czech, Polish, German, Aussie, Scot, French, and Italian fan films with equally charming accents as ours. IDIC, you know.

There's another TNG race where they elevate Barkley mentally to bring the Enterprise to them. The point is that in the real universe, you should encounter just as many "superior" lifeforms as there are "inferior" lifeforms. In Star Trek, there are more "inferior" civilizations than "superior" ones. This story works to correct that a bit.

Fascinating episode. I loved how the innovative people saved their civilization. Of course they were very lucky that it was a Federation ship that discovered them. I would hate to think what would have happened if it had been Romulans or Klingons. It looks like Navigator Madigan intends to stick with the ship after all. I hope it gets more comfortable for her.

First, I want to say, I love your work. This was a very interesting story and I enjoyed it very much! My only suggestion would be to have waited on the announcement until much better computers and many more scientist at a Starbase, had, taken the time to re-evaluate the data in more detail, It seems premature to make such a announcement to the crew before they could be sure. After all, the same scientist were wrong just a few hours before.

Most of the theory surrounding the Sleeping Dragon originated in the Astrophysical Journal as did the basis of many great Roddenberry classics, in one way or the other. Some day we will travel to the edge of the galaxy and discover the galactic barrier Gene spoke about, was way ahead of his time. Black Hole theory has changed a lot from the 1990's Nothing escapes to Hawking radiation and James Web could promote the whole nebula theory getting spit out and seeding the universe with new planetary systems or great voids between galaxies (dark energy theory). Either way we live in a fun age for fiction writers. whether the magnetar broke up inside the event event horizon or not is probably a mute point but I think Randy used it masterfully to examine how us humans react to unfamiliar situations under extreme stress. @iraferguson2648 Great input
