I'm a Portuguese fan of this band. What can i say, great band!!... making their path on the gothic metal scene. I hope this time they could do a show in my country. We lots of fans of gothic and symphonic metal genre and we have few concerts in there. Ailyn Gimenez is one of the best female voices in metal and she is a spanish girl.. es muy guapa tambien!

The sorrows still aching within my heart You were once my light But now you are lost Now there's no one left that I can trust Waning behind locked doors I'm breaking down once more A true love is hard to find A joyful life is hard to come by The pain is still aching within my mind I used to love my life But those times passed by Now I'm just a prisoner of the night Waning behind locked doors I'm breaking down once more A true love is hard to find A joyful life is hard to come by If I could find my way through the night I'd still be lost without you by my side Waning behind locked doors I'm breaking down once more A true love is hard to find A joyful life is hard to come by Waning behind locked doors I'm breaking down once more A true love is hard to find A joyful life is hard to come by

For the ones who are interested in the filming location: it was shooted in Zrenjanin, Serbia, at the beautiful building of the City Hall. The band didn't use "green background" in this video, they had travelled to Serbia and shot the video in place.

@@markopantic6938 Zrenjanin was called Nagybecskerek, located in Banat which was a Hungarian territory for a millennia, before the Trianon Peace Dictatum of 1920. The beautiful building in the background was built by Hungarians in the 19th Century. Hungarian words are still displayed on the building (Truth, Wisdom and Strength)

1st listening: - I don't find it catchy, but I often need more than one listening. - I'm surprised at the power metal feel there is to the song. - The music sure is original, the song isn't flat. - It doesn't feel like usual Sirenia stuff. 2nd listening: Starting to finding it catchy and I'm really pleased with how fresh this sounds for a single.

It's really sad what happened with Ailyn. She is such a sweetheart, hardworking and extremely talented singer. She made Sirenia great. She made me fell inlove with this band but now I can't fucking stand them. She deserved so much better. This is a really sad ending for this band but Morten only has his stupid self to blame. I pray Ailyn continue her singing career :( Now I have no idea if her career is over or not as a singer. Thank you dumbass Morten.

I feel like many of the people here never listened to the full album. Sirenia went back to a very heavy, bombastic and strong tone. A lot of diverse songs, much more male vocals (gutural and clean) and in general a new style. Ailyn's vocals also have changed, the Poppy sound is mostly gone too. The Album has several highlights aswel, with Tragedienne being the bombastic end to the album. The Silver Eye is one of the most heavy songs I heard from Sirenia for example. What I also like is that there aren't so many choirs replacing refrains because the fact is: we never get the latin lyrics so putting a big part of the choir in a song destroys the purpose of showing a meaning. Also: Once my Light and Tragedienne are the only songs on this album with Ailyns vocals only. All other songs have either a lot male vocals or a passage. And let's not forget, Serpent has a gutural vocal refrain. Now whoever says this Album is the "same shit" as the other albums, clearly didn't listen to any other song but this. (And this song is also pretty heavy compared to singles before Seven Widows Weep from the previous Album)

Well, after first listening few days ago I was quite disappointed with this song (quite long-drawn as mentioned above) because Sirenia's new album is a musical event of this year for me. However, fortunately after several days of listening to this track I must say that I love it as much as other Sirenia songs. Morten, you are such genius! I love your creation - not only within Sirenia, but Sirenia is simply the best. THANK YOU! I believe and I know that the rest of the album is also going to be great. I hope to see you in the Czech Republic soon again!

Is bitching on Sirenia's videos like, a sport now? This isn't supposed to be catchy, nor fast, nor power metal, not symphonic. This is Sirenia, not freaking Delain. Have you people even heard the kind of music Morten has done? Does "December Elegy" make you want to get up your seat and dance? I don't think so. He's trying to carry on with his legacy, finding different paths but that don't stray from what he has done. The one moment he kinda did was with The Enigma of Life and even they agree it was a horrible album. Have you actually gone through the work of listening to their albums, from beginning to end, more than AT LEAST 7 times, which is what is needed to understand ANY album? I seriously doubt it. People bitch and mourn that these bands are "poppy metal with female vocals", but they don't even give a shit about actually listening to the thing. If it were a man singing they wouldn't be so blind sided and would give the album a chance, but as I said, everyone sits on the surface which they identify as cliché and never dig beyond that because they're just too lazy to do so. If this is not your kind of music, or if you want some "brutal gore death metalaghh 666", please, for satan's sake, move on and let us live. The world is big enough for everyone, and not everyone has to have a narrow mind like you.

ThatOnePerson I'm the opposite of the norm. If it's a female singer it's more interesting to me. It's because female vocals are more beautiful and clean while males often tend to scream or use death grunts. There are two bands I like with great male singers, and that's Kamelot and Serenity. They have the classic clean metal voice that is easy for the ears.

Elixir, Sons of the North, Insania, Serpent...

Why can't Morten make a dynamic album like At Sixes and Sevens anymore? This new song is not bad, but man, where's the soul and melancholy of Morten's early compositions? Where are the beautifull violin passages, the acoustic guitar parts, the clean male vocals that made songs like A Shadow of Your Own Self and In a Manica so addicting? It seems like Morten don't want to work with other musicians anymore, he just make this generic stuff that tend to sell easier and make the Sineria image under the female vocalist just like every other generic Gothic Metal band with female singers.
@enriquemaidana8662
@enriquemaidana8662 9 жыл бұрын
Pedro Junior I start to think that Morten always was a mediocre musician and not the God that every cult metalhead want to make him to be. Yes, he was probably the main-head and all of early-Tristania, but he's not that great. Sure, he probably was who decided the musicianship and even compose the first great works of both, Tristania and Sirenia, but i can't help but think that he is overrated. Tristania made a bomb of an album back in 2001 without him, without all the little flaws that their previous albums with Morten had. They were just more coherent and melodic, way better than with Morten Veland IMO. The REAL Morten Veland is in Mortemia and post-Nine Destinies And A Downfall. His 'greatness' are indeed because of the help of bandmates. He alone sucks, that's why Tristania was even better without him for a time. My little opinion. We'll hear this album when it's out, i hope it's better than previous Sirenia albums.
@Petersorg
@Petersorg 9 жыл бұрын
Songs Of Darkness I don't think he is a mediocre musician, he is not a genius as some people consider, but he is very competent at what he does. Even his recent stuff is not bad, but it lacks the dynamic and soul of his older works. For me Beyond the Veil and At Sixes and Sevens are masterpieces and IMO, the last good thing he did was An Elixir for Existence, yet this album still doesn't come close to his debut album with Sirenia. I guess he lacks the inspiration he had when he was younger. Today he writes a lot of modern generic guitar riffs, the typical 7 string/low tuned guitar stuff that a lot of modern bands does these days and it's just not appealing for those who enjoyed At Sixes an Sevens, because that album had a lot of Gothic Rock elements, the songs were really unique, dark and powerfull without having to appeal to the typical low tuned guitar riffs. Another thing is that today he uses way to much female vocals on his songs, the one thing I loved about BTV and ASAS is that the female vocals fit very well and were used only as a supporting type of vocal on most songs, not as a leading vocal as he does today.

Pedro Junior That have a bit of that in the song "Elixir". It's similar to the sound of their early albums.

Pedro Junior Judging from the latest albums of Sirenia I'd say Veland is a mediocre musician. But we know he isn't because the wrote some of the best albums in the gothic metal genre, first with Tristania and then the two first albums with Sirenia. He's very talented, but for some reason he seems to be unable or unwilling to produce something new and fresh or even interesting.

Visse90 Maybe he is money-driven now, LOL. I miss the good-old Gothic Metal. I don't know of ANY album comparable to masterpieces like World Of Glass and Tears Laid In Earth. What the fuck is going on here?!

I've got to admit I haven't really listened to Sirenia before, but on Pandora not too long ago I had a Within Temptation station playing and a song of theirs came on it, and now I really enjoy listening to them.

This is really different from Ailyn and I think it's great. She continues to grow and become better in my opinion, pushing her boundaries and adding more versatility, which I think is great for us. I don't know how people are saying it sounds like more of the same, this is not the same! It was so refreshing and calming to pick up musical tones here and there reminiscent of 'at sixes and sevens', elixir, and even 'meridian shores'. It made me feel like I was visiting a place I knew so well that it was an old friend I was reconnecting with after the journey of life had taken us far from each other. I haven't heard any of those sounds since those albums and it's a great way to connect that era of Sirenia with this one. It was very smart, even if unintentional, because for many that was the golden age of Sirenia. I'm happy with this and I can't wait to receive my limited canvas edition :D

I think this is great. It's not super special or doing anything very different, but it's just Sirenia. It's the kind of music that I listen to Sirenia for, and I'm glad they keep making it. I've loved every album since Nine Destinies And A Downfall, and after hearing this I have no doubt I'll love the upcoming album too.

....really....tell that to Epica, Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Dark Tranquility, Insomnium, Gojira....among others I've seen over the last few years....yeah they'll have to play in a smaller venue and yes they won't make as much money....but I was under the impression they play for the fans not just the money or big crowds.... a lot of fans here in the Northwest love these bands.
