The Whelen CenCom Carbide CANnect (CCSRNT5G) is engineered to maintain situational awareness of the officer. Whelen's CenCom Carbide houses numerous innovative technologies that deliver highly effective visual and auditory warning. Designed for simplistic, hands free usage, Carbide allows officers to easily adapt with Situation Based Integration. This version of the CenCom Carbide comes with the CANnect CAN Interface. The CANnect CAN Interface is a simple plug-in connection to the vehicle. Using the CANnect, CAN bus signals from the vehicle are easily applied to automate warning system functions. The simple and easy installation eliminates labor costs, saves money on wires and connectors, and helps maintain the integrity of the vehicle.
Carbide provides the capability to sync all lights together, including SOLO, DUO, and TRIO WeCan lightbars, a Traffic Advisor and the rear WeCan Inner Edge RTX. Easily reproducible from vehicle to vehicle, Carbide installs effortlessly with little wiring intricacy. I saw in an older video somewhere you guys replaced the trunk release button with a silver button that would turn on steady white lights on the rear deck to be able to use the trunk lid as a work surface. That was a very cool feature, what parts were used for that ?

Soundoff Nforce tri-color Dash lights with pigtail harnesses verse the 12volt plug-ins were used. The trigger wire for the white over-ride was wired to a push-button provided by Star Cars, LLC. They wired in a relay for the trunk button to be switch back from white to warning when the Cencom control-head is changed via the slide-switch or when the car is shifted back to drive.

It can be set up to just about any preference for lighting control.

The Charger was put together by Whelen Engineering at the main factory. We really love the graphics they used on it. Carbon fiber and retro-reflective black look amazing with gunmetal grey.

Question: With the Carbide system, I know there’s features where if you press the brakes, it can activate modules on the light bar to indicate the vehicle is braking. Is there a way to program the feature to disable the brake light when you’re braking for a stealth mode so to speak?

Good question... No, disabling the brake lights or setting a "blackout" mode is not possible to do through a CarBide or Core controller.

We're not aware of any testing that's been done with a Carbide CANport OBD II in that vehicle. "If" the electrical system shares similarities to a Tahoe or Silverado, you may find that it partially works... but could be iffy. Yes, a Cencom Carbide can control a Valor bar, but it won't allow for any software programming of the bar. That will need to be specifically done using the Federal Signal Serial Interface Module.

Inline resistors are being used so that the siren tones are quieted down for demonstration. It's not a feature that Carbide has built in.

It is Vehicle specific. It is available for the 2016 and 2017 Ford F-150 currently. The Ram 1500 PPV isn't offered at this time.

It'll work with other manufacturers 12volt lighting and accessories. The WeCan input is going to be specific to only Whelen's corresponding WC items for easy plug and program.

Isn't the steady burn usually on a lower brightness? Well the core make it brighter even it flashes?

Through Core you can set different levels of intensity, as well as the new DVI mode (dynamic variable intensity) where the light gradually increases and decreases in brightness while never fully turning off. Take-down and scene lights can be used at full power or dimmed depending on the scene and time of day.

@SIRENNET that I understand. My question is if you're using a non-whelen light, and in order to do so, you would need to set that light to steady burn first. But Usually the steady burn is not a max brightness, so will the core flash that light at full brightness or only the intensity of the original steady burn of the light.

Feniex lighting can be used along with the Cencom Carbide to an extent. With the design of the system and communicating with the various inside / outside lights, it'd really be best to use Whelen products so the programming and functions are flawless.

That practice has pretty much gone away due to hearing damage over years of use. It is a lot safer for the occupants of the vehicle when the siren is mounted up front.

That is actually pretty common in German and other European Lightbars. They usually come as a complete all-in-one package with lights, speakers and amps built into the bar. Disadvantage, of course, is that there is less room for LED lights. Take a look at the Hella RTK 7, Pintsch Bamag Zirkon, or Hänsch DBS4000.

Is this the only light controller that works with modern cars' canbus that's becoming so commonly-used? I would imagine this would save so much trouble of unnecessarily wiring certain things.

How is that vehicle even allowed to be transported? It doesn't have any emergency vehicle markings on it and doesn't it have to be an emergency vehicle to have police lights on it?

With the Charger being a manufacturers demonstration vehicle, its equipped with full cut-offs so that the electronics are switched completely off when traveling. It's used professionally & for purposes of providing Law Enforcement clients and vendors like ourselves the ability to have a first hand look at a platform they may take advantage of.
