English translation I’ll deliver the final blow, That boy with a pitiful look on his face (laughs) Wildfires everywhere, Savages acting “sensitive,” Let’s let the flowers bloom at least until the end, From cradle to grave, there’s not enough love! Impatient guests, in a hurry, Everyone, wearing the same face, “They lack manners,” Now, gather around the pure white table, Dance on spinning dishes, We’ve forgotten the right way to breathe, It’s all over once we drown. A luxurious dining table, Trash acts like trash, Fools act like fools, That’s the iron rule of society, basically, we don’t care about complaints, It’s like we’re all nuisances, The noisy crowd from earlier, For now, let’s dance in the palm of their hands. Gather around the pure white table, Dance on spinning dishes, We’ve forgotten the right way to breathe, Let’s continue until we drown. Go ahead, enjoy the sour and sweet as you please, The poison we’ve held onto, uncertainly, Let it make these cells dance, With those sharp-edged words! Our pain, we couldn’t choose any of it, Look, it’s spinning round and round, On the “life” dining table. Now, gather around the pure white table, Dance on spinning dishes, We’ve forgotten the right way to breathe, It’s all over once we drown. A luxurious dining table, Now, play a mournful elegy, Let’s dance in the palm of your hand! How does it feel to be devoured by the prey you all made fun of? Go ahead, enjoy the sour and sweet as you please, We’ve been waiting for love for sure, Let these cells dance, With that completely decayed mind! Nothing will be taken from us, Our pain and everything is spinning, On the “life” dining table.

Thank you! If anyone's curious about the meaning according to one of natori's posts this song is "dedicated to those who have no manners" Edit: there's a whole analysis available on the internet and pasted in the comments as well it seems

i swear every song Natori makes is gold to my ears
Comment I love how experimental Natori has become with more of his newer songs! I also noticed how the song’s melody is a little similar to Friday Night, it might be drawing back to that song since the title Fool’s Table seems to be referring to one of the lyrics in Friday Night, “No helping it, now I’m feeling like a fool inside”. At first, seeing the person on the table looking eerily similar to the guy in Friday Night’s MV made me think “huh, it might be connected in some way?”. I think it’s possible, especially with how much parallels are drawn between the MV and melody of both songs; plus the appearance of the guy on the table and the wine/brandy symbolism(?). The beginning and chorus of the songs sound similar, 1:38 of the song sounds like 2:24 of Friday night. I’m not Japanese so I don’t actually know what the lyrics of the song are but I’m excited for the english lyrics to come out eventually and either disprove or approve my theory :DD Thank you Natori for this scrumptious song, might just eat the song like how the pigs in the MV did!

There are just so much questions and things I’ve noticed just now! Overdose’s background includes foreshadowing of the future songs, like the poster that says “Friday Night” and another one with utensils and a plate (possibly referring to this song)

I can see similarities with Sarushibai and this song (chorus-wise) but with more jazz like in Friday Night. I can also hear a bit of Kinmokusei/Osmanthus here. I'm so excited to see the English translations come out lol, my Japanese is also super limited but this song is such a treat!!

it always interests and amazes me, how producers like this can make such direct songs about the flaws of society. it takes a certain level of awareness and *experience* be able to put these things into words, let alone with such resonating lyrics. paired with his low yet clear voice woven with a catchy melody... its impactful, to put it simply. his music has such genuine charm... a strange nostalgia to it. the visuals are very well done too! it paints an even more vivid picture. although i always cant help but worry about how they can describe pain or things like that so clearly, i just hope everything is okay. anyways... this is an amazing song! im in love with everything about it!💙🐟

Agree you literally took the words out of my mouth haha. It is crazy how it specifically directs to only one thing (a flaw in society here) that most of us could probably never think of in a song ever. Such creativity deserves my respect 🫶🫶
it's not mine... it's from a website. The song "食卓(Shokutaku /fool’s table)" by なとり (natori) explores themes of societal expectations and conformity, the disregard for manners, and the struggle to find genuine love and connection in a superficial world. The lyrics depict a scene where the protagonist feels trapped and suffocated by societal norms and expectations. They describe a sad and pitiful young boy who is overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction around him, symbolized by wildfires. The song criticizes those who act fake and pretentious, using the term "センチ" (sentimental) to describe their false actions. The chorus, "さぁ、真っ白いテーブルを囲んで 踊れ、回る皿の上で 僕ら、正しい呼吸も忘れて 溺れていくまでがオチさ 贅沢な食卓を" (Come, gather around the pure white table, Dance on the spinning dishes, Forget the correct breathing, Until we drown, that's the punchline, A luxurious dining table), suggests a metaphorical representation of a dining table where people are expected to conform and dance according to society's expectations. The focus shifts to criticism of hypocrites and the noise of the outside world, while also acknowledging that society doesn't accept complaints. The lyrics further emphasize the idea of individuals being labeled as "クズ" (trash) or "馬鹿" (fool) according to society's rules and norms. The song suggests that society doesn't tolerate complaints and insists on conformity. The lyrics also imply that people should dance on the palm of that oppressive hand. The bridge, "もう、酸いも甘いもご勝手にどうぞ 不確かにずっと、飼っていた毒を この、細胞を踊らせてくれよ その、尖りきった言葉で!" (Now, have the sour and sweet freely, The poison that I've kept uncertainly all along, Let it make my cells dance, With those sharp words!), suggests a desire to break free from the societal constraints. The protagonist asks to express themselves with their harsh and piercing words, releasing all the built-up toxicity they have endured. The song concludes with the repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the struggle to find genuine love and connection amidst a superficial and materialistic world, symbolized by the "贅沢な食卓" (luxurious dining table). The final lines, "もう、真っ黒いエレジィを掻き鳴らせ 踊ろうぜ、手のひらの上で! お前らが馬鹿にした、餌どもに 喰われていく気分はどうだい?" (Now, let the dark elegy resound, Let's dance on the palm of your hand! How does it feel to be devoured by the food you've ridiculed?), express a sense of rebellion and defiance, suggesting that those who have underestimated and disregarded the protagonist will eventually face the consequences of their actions. Overall, "食卓(Shokutaku /fool’s table)" delves into the struggles of conformity, the emptiness of superficial social interactions, and the yearning for genuine connections in a world that often prioritizes appearances and societal expectations.
