I've heard lots of people say that putting Bifacial panels on a roof is a waste because the back side is only a couple inches from the roof shingles and the backs won't get any (or very little) reflected sunlight. Install them onto Ground Mounts you can put a layer of reflective white rock on the ground underneath the panels which will allow reflected light to get in the backs. Your Sirius 415w Bifacial panels can make over 530watts if they get good reflected light in the back on a ground mount. (IF) you put wide gaps between the solar panels on the roof then you could try glueing (Chromed Aluminum Sheets) on the roof under the panels in those gaps to create reflectivity but still won't be as good as a ground mount. Well, they are in the same price range as regular panels, so not really a literal waste, but I get the point. I do have ground mounts with bifacials already, and yes they do produce better. I would do all ground mounts, but I do not have the room. Thanks!

Great info Brad. I love the idea of bi facial panels but its hard to get light to the back of them when mounted traditionally. Perhaps, you could setup a structure to mount the panels over the pool so they act as shading for the pool and benefiting from light reflecting off the water to the underside of the panels. As a test, it would be worthwhile suspending a panel 10 or 12 feet over the water to see what difference it makes? Problem will be the expense of building a suitable structure over the pool and to code for the weather conditions you guys have.

Try them vertical away from a wall, if you get snow, it won't stick and power will go over 550w.

Very nice panel performance! I’ve been happy with bifacial panels and started using them exclusively. I’m curious where you got your roof mounts and rails? Not sure I’ve seen those before. 👍

The rails on the flat roof are Unirac, and the feet are Unirac Flashloc. The bolts (and the end clamps) holding the panels are ironridge. I have a hodgepodge of racking LOL. I bought a bunch of random solar installation parts from a guy that buys storage units. Dirt cheap, but for the most part a lot of it seems to be compatible. Thanks

I’ve bought stuff myself from folks that buy storage units. I always admire those folks with the patience to sift through all that junk to find the hidden treasures! I’m never that lucky! 🤩☀️⚡️🔋

thing about panels most of them work what feels like forever, I got some ex-solar farm ones quite cheap they are 265w I got about 310w off one on a good day

Why would you mound Bifacial panels flat on a roof? I don’t see you getting backside light?

My ground mounts already have bifacials, so the only mounting options I had at the moment were the existing roof rails. I might later put gaps between the four laying flat, and angle that whole rail. Thanks!

Hi Brad, 369w divided by 12,8v you are pretty much maximizing the Victron 30 amp charge controller... Maybe thatvis why you weren't seeing more than 369w.

Well it's really closer to 14v x 30a = 420w for the 100/30. The manual say it can do 440w, clearly you would need to be @ 14.6+ v. Also I was watching the amps going to the battery in the app, it never maxed out at 30a. You can see here (its a quick glimpse at the bottom): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqGuiIJ5npp9Zq8si=Fli9XlpZgFQarYbr&t=170 It was only hitting 25.3a when we were getting 359w and 13.93 volts on the battery. There's just some days that don't produce well for any panel even if it looks like it should. I've been surprised at crappy cloudy days that really get the watts pumping. Thanks!

LOL, I have ground mounts with bifacials already, but no more room for ground mounts. So these had to go on the roof. BTW does not seem to be much of any cost difference anyway. Thanks!

That’s what I’m thinking too, on a black roof😥and small gap between… producing more heat and less power producing For me it’s look a gimmick
