any% 1 Player 2 Controllers is the main category of this game. It makes use of certain glitches that need the runner to control 2 characters at the same time with 2 controllers. This is a glitch and skip heavy category, features a lot of smart boss strategies and enemy despawn manipulations through specific movement in fields.
First sub 1:40 milestone, World Record and long-term goal of mine. I hated this last push for it and complained a lot but I was too stubborn to let it rest and finally got it.
The run was pretty good overall. No Tropicallo quick kill and some minor timeloss before Spiky Tiger were things in the early game that could have gone better but all the early game bosses, Fire Gigas, Wall Face, Killroy and Jabberwocky died properly without a lot of issues which is a great start overall. Midgame was generally amazing and not much to complain about except some minor losses before Spring Beak and Vampire and some bigger ones on the Fire Temple and Sewers splits. Endgame was very mixed but good enough to clutch it out. Amazing Hexas, MechRider3 and DreadSlime splits but lost a lot to Buffy and Dark Lich. Finished off strong with a gold on Mana Beast, great run.

I want to see HIS world record on an original SNES. He will definitely not reach this time! Reset the rom to get to the load save menu faster. 9:24 prepared savegames too? 17:00 fast walking during loading weapon, not original.

@@Ninggu82 lol what do you get out of making stuff up? It is on the leaderboard and has been verified. I guess you must be new to speedrunning. Just because you are new, doesn't mean people are cheating.

@@brooder Using an emulator allows you to edit the ROM beforehand and you can make a record of the movement. was there a referee behind him? Nope, everyone on stream.

@@Ninggu82 that is called a TAS or Tool Assisted Run, and they are not eligible for submission. Emulators are fine for speedrunning, many speedruns are done on emulator, meaning even if this run was performed on an emulator, which it wasn't, it would still be valid. I cannot tell if you are trolling or legitimately confused.

Great run, I always play the game with no cheats just like when I first played it on the SNES. But, I am thinking about trying to learn how to speed run this like you. I usually beat the game a few times a year, switching things up a bit will be nice. Thanks for posting this.

In the Water Palace it looked like you started over when you saved and went to a Level 11. Does that count as a speed run? I’m new here. ☺️

Luca asks you if you wanna save. I did save, then reset the console and loaded the save. With that save you spawn at the bottom of the room, saving some time. This is allowed in speedrunning as long as there is no specific rule against Saving and Quitting, which we don't have in Secret of Mana.

Why it works is a bit complicated to explain but basically by setting up your menu the way I did in the run and then going out and into the menu we trick the game thinking that our sell menu is his shop. It's not the real items though so we sell a "Blat" item which gives a lot of money. It technically glitches out our inventory so you have to be careful to not sell a bad amount

@@Zheal I noticed not everything was sold. I was curious if that had something to do with the reason why. I played this game a lot when I was younger. Went to gamefaqs to get what I thought were all the glitches and secrets. Seeing this was really cool. Well done man! also congratulations on the world record!

I don't understand how wall of faces was defeated with 1 attack, is this just done with glitches?

yes, the weapon switching before that is glitching out the charging of the weapon so I can charge up very high, way higher than the game would normally allow, dealing insane amounts of damage.

How/why do you complete the run without the girl? I guess you skip Goblin cooking pot encounter and never go to the Pandora castle, but why?

There are a few ways you can get the girl in the game, starting with the goblin pot event is one way and it's optional. The speedrun is skipping the girl since it's slow getting her. She joins the party later on the sandship.
