Jaws The Revenge: Where Roy Scheider said, "Satan himself couldn't get me to make Jaws 4!" And Michael Caine said, "Just make sure the check clears, okay?!" Michael Caine was making THIS thing and missed picking up his Oscar for Hannah and Her Sisters. He later said, "I never saw Jaws 4, but I heard it was terrible. I did see the house it bought, and it is glorious."

Honestly, can you think of a more exemplary microcosm of Michael Caine's career than missing the opportunity to pick up his Oscar because he was working on Jaws: the Revenge with the classic tagine, "This time, it's personal."?

Roy scheider was smart to refused to have anything to do with jaws after the first two movies, just like fat joe refused to do anymore of pun's posthumous albums after endangered species.

I appreciate the fact Ebert acknowledges an error he made about Snow White and the bird. I don’t think any other reviewer would say they made a mistake on tv about something as small as that, but he does.

Totally. It's a fun little movie w/ likable characters. I even got a Cameo personal greeting from Dean Cameron who played "Chainsaw". I mentioned how much I liked the movie and he said that Summer School fans are the "best people". So no shame in liking this movie. Take it from Chainsaw.

I laughed my head off, especially when Roger asked about how the shark sustained a grudge against the Brody family when all those the Brodys had gone up against had DIED. "Who is he, a cousin?" 🤣🤣 I swear to God, I never even thought of something so logical. I miss these guys.

Gene is right. The actress who played Ellen Brody IS a trivia question.... Check out the TV interviews with the filmmakers of this movie. They made themselves believe they could make a story about a "vengeful" shark. That is until the film opened. Funny.

there is a weird irony i think in their review towards the end of the old George Reeves superman film, where Gene says its campy fun and "nostalgia is worth something". he then immediately takes another shot at "Summer School" and calling it awful, because of course for me "Summer School" is campy fun and provides me with a warm fuzzy nostalgia of being 15 and watching it all the time on cable. and it always takes me back to that time and place i miss but the world will never see again, back to my memories of being a teen and of the 80s that the "Stranger Things" audience will never be able to fully understand no matter how much they soak that retro experience in. and then Gene says "we laugh at these old movies but they were sincere in really wanting to entertain people" unlike "Summer School", but i always felt like they were sincerely trying to entertain me with a sort of typical teen comedy. for me personally "Summer School" is the film i would most want to watch out of this weeks lineup. "Wish You Were Here" i actually remember being ok, but it really is mostly about the charm of the actress starring in it. and from what i recall it is not a particularly happy ending for her.

When Gene said hopefully this is the last Jaws movie, I'm actually surprised Jaws hasn't been rebooted. Maybe because the original is so classic and they say there's some films you can't remake, like Casablanca.

I bet if Emily Lloyd had been an American, she would have been swept up by Studios as the next big thing and at least given a Winona Ryder level push. Don't know what she's been up to in the years since she was the most promising newcomer in the movies, but I hope she's healthy and has good memories of what has been and what might have been.

@@delbongo just caught up via Wikipedia. Had never heard of the ironic situation in which she was cast in Pretty Woman but had to drop out because of contractual obligation to Mermaids from which she was dropped because Cher didn't think she looked like someone who could be Cher's daughter, replacing her with...Winona Ryder. And then there was all that followed with her last especially prominent role stateside being in A River Runs Through It and her last shot at stardom being cast in and then fired from Tank Girl. And then twenty-five years of ups and serious Downs since then. Sad.

@@BobCat623923 if i recall correctly Amanda's fall was sort of her own fault though, getting caught up in drugs and other bad decisions. which isnt to say its not sad though, i always remember her from "Cant Buy Me Love" and she was very charismatic in it. i also always remember Emily from this film, but i did not know about those other situations with her losing out on "Pretty Women" and "Mermaids".

@@newwavepop Well..yeah but Amanda was also assaulted and taken advantage of by higher up Hollywood sleazebags from what I read...at a very young age of 15 as well. I think she was let to hang out with people in Hollywood that she shouldn't have been... understandably her family wasn't prepared for it, I believe. Next thing you know she gets raped by a much older man at 15 years old...(and there's unconfirmed rumors she was assaulted more than once) She gets hooked on junk and her life spirals downward....of course, there's always personal responsibility in anything. But I have nothing but empathy for what happened to her. She really had it all beauty, talent and very down to earth and likeable...if you ever watch the few interviews on here of her you'll see what I mean... Very sad.

Regarding the Superman serials, it should be reminded that to all intents and purposes they use the same special effects we do today - using animation. The only difference is the source of the animation: the serial used standard cell animation, and we use computers. A difference that makes no difference. If you're not willing to accept the animation, it looks terrible. I can accept the cell animation of the earlier era; I will NEVER accept CGI - it actually looks more fake than the cell animation!!

I disagree with Siskel & Elbert here a little bit - Jaws was phenomenal…the greatest movie ever. Jaws 2 was awesome…not as good but still very enjoyable. Jaws 3 was trash…and Jaws The Revenge was one of the worst movies …of all time. So they were batting .500. Thankfully tho, they did end it.
