Back to the future part 3 is the rare third instatement that doesn’t suck.

"Longtime Companion" was very good and very touching, the scene they talk about hits me especially hard because i had to do the same thing with my father. he had been sick my entire life i had never known him as a healthy man, and when i was 25 he went back into the hospital yet again and i could tell this was it. but i felt like he was holding o because he was worried about me and i had to tell him not to worry and to do whatever he needed to do. and i didnt think any could understand or knew what that was like, and when i saw that scene about 10 years ago it was realty surreal and moving and comforting in some way.

I can't believe Roger Ebert didn't like " Back To The Future 3" but Gene DID. I thought it would be the other way around.

Ebert really wanted to dislike Back to the Future 3. His argument is terrible.

I didn't like Back To The Future Part 3 , the setting either wasn't as Interesting or they just didn't do that time period right. The dialogue and plot wasn't nearly as memorable as Part 1 and 2.

It was my least favorite as a kid (like most people, loved the first and part 2 was so exciting first seeing it) but I grew to really love it. I think lots of original viewers of Part 2, who saw it in theaters in the 80’s, probably got turned off by the ending having such a cliffhanger and then getting that “coming soon” sneak peak right after it ended showing the third was going to be primarily in an old west setting, after the exciting future that part 2 showed that just must have blew some minds back in the day. I saw all movies on vhs and tv first so that didn’t bother me, but I do agree somewhat with Ebert that old Hill Valley set looked kinda…artificial? Like what a computer would set up after watching old 40’s and 50’s western movies.

Back to the Future Part III was a missed opportunity, IMO. They should have expanded on the time paradoxes from Part II. Instead, we got a western parody -- and a lousy one at that. The minute I saw ZZ Top, I could only go "OMFG!!" I really did dislike this film, especially considering how much I enjoyed Part II. And it could have been so much better. I noted on another video how Part III had missed a step. Part I and Part II both began in 1985, but each film depicts a DIFFERENT 1985. The first film essentially starts on "Earth One" where everything has gone bad for Marty and Doc, and the second essentially starts on "Earth Two," where everything seems to be going perfectly for both. I saw an article once (can't remember where) that hypothesized how the third film should have started. As in the first two films, we would start in 1985, but this would be "Earth Three," with Rich Biff owning the town. It would recreate the scenes leading up to the roof, only this time, someone actually shoots Marty and Doc dead. Rich Biff swirls to see Old Biff with Rich Biff's gun. "Get in the car, Butthead!" Old Biff says. "We've got a lot of work to do." And then the opening credits would run, and we would catch up with Marty in 1955. It would have been a massive battle in three different time zones as Marty has to rescue Doc from 1885 and then both have to stop the Biffs from totally destroying the timeline. It would have made an incredible movie. But we didn't get one in THIS universe....
