Someone uploaded these as individual reviews a few years ago - I've stitched them together into a single episode. Thanks to whoever provided the original materials!

Ebert is quite wrong here. Raising Arizona is a fantastic gem.

He's not wrong. It's an opinion. I hate it when kids watch these to see if they gave a good review to a popular film. Most often, but those films got popular and beloved through yrs of cable. Not beloved at first

@@mania4270 Loved it for 37 years and Ebert has the opinion of a humor challenged egg head.

I was looking for their review of Lethal Aeapon 1. Thank you!

I used to tape their show every week, but I didn’t remember that Roger disliked “Raising Arizona” and that Gene wasn’t overly enthusiastic. It’s one of my favorite movies, but to each their own. And I think John Goodman deserved an honorable mention for his role. But there’s no way I could watch that Spike Lee movie a second time. I rented it because of Siskel and Ebert giving it a rave review, but I thought it was a tedious ego trip. But what do I know? I’m apparently one of the few people who didn’t like “Do The Right Thing.”

"I'll come back to you in 5 years and we'll look at true stories and look at this film and we'll see which one we like the best". 5 years later the Coen brothers would have made "Barton Fink" and only one year later would come "The Hudsucker Proxy"...

In Roger Ebert's written review he directly mentions there are two surprise scenes in the movie. The first is the suicide jumper scene. Where Riggs actually jumps taking the suicide jumper reluctantly with him. The second is at the end. This one I don't know. Its either that they all go for Christmas dinner together or maybe the car driving through the living room wall?

I think the "surprise" they were talking about in Lethal Weapon was Riggs getting taken out by Busey with a shotgun and then showing up in the desert with a sniper rifle...
@reneperez7903 Жыл бұрын
The Fight was not in slow motion between Gibson & Busey at all, where they shot Gary Busey was in slow motion.

Yeah exactly just think they wanted to pick a fault with the film when there wasn't one

Surprise was the reveal of martins wife having died and him pointing the gun at himself i think, i think they found that gave a surprising amount of character depth or something?

Two movies called heat? Interesting

Darn it. No one seems to know for sure which surprise Ebert is talking about in Lethal Weapon.

The scene where they jump off the roof is my best guess
Trying to think what that scene was with the surprise as love Lethal Weapon it's still awesome still hard to believe it was made in 87 but i disagree about the karate fight with Busey at the end was a great fight thought it was very exciting 👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻

I too am curious as to which scene they found surprising. I wonder if it’s the fact that both Murtaugh and Riggs actually dove into the pool to try to save the drowning bad guy.
@mrbee4life182 Жыл бұрын
@@greatwareagle Wouldn't think that was it! Love the special edition directors cut of it because originally Riggs has to kill a gunman shooting up a school they had to cut it out with what was happening in American schools at the time

I don't think anyone would call "Heat" an imitation of "The Karate Kid." What a silly comment.

I guess Heat is a name for crappy movies 😂

Nah, because Heat from 1995 was fantastic
@bltvd7 ай бұрын
@@speedyboris LOL that movie is a piece of crap! When I first saw it in the theater when I was young I thought it was a “good” movie but as I have gotten older I realize the acting in it is as bad as the Room and the police are totally to blame for the violence because they chose to engage the bank robbers in a crowded city.
@elguitarTom6 ай бұрын
@@bltvd so let just bank robbers rob freely and get away freely lol. fight fire with fire
@naysayer12382 ай бұрын
@@bltvd They are not as bad as "The Room" of course, and that is imbecilic to say about the cops.
@bltvd2 ай бұрын
@@naysayer1238 Yes they were and it was an apt comment. I don’t think there is anything in the Room as dumb as the scene with Natalie Portman in the bathroom. All the police had to do was follow them to a safer area and then engage. It was psychotic what they chose to do in the movie. More psychotic than the actual criminals!
