The legend of the lone ranger tried to do the same thing that the 1978 Superman movie did the 1978 Superman movie did something that had never been done previously. We finally got a Superman film that mythologized Superman in the 1978 film and rightfully so and it was pulled off successfully. The people that made the legend of the lone ranger tried to do that they tried to mythologize that character and it failed.

Worst thing: the Johnny Depp Lone Ranger film actually makes Legend of the Lone Ranger seem so much better. But then Legend takes the legend seriously, while the 2013 film made it a joke. And a not very funny one at that. While Legend had its issues (and we all hated how the producers treated Clayton Moore), at least it treated its characters with respect, especially its very literate Tonto (played by a true native American Michael Horse) with an all too familiar backstory. And it did have cinematography from the great Laszlo Kovacs. I didn't care for the film back then, but, removed from the controversies at the time, I can tolerate it much more nowadays. The 2013 film took the legend back over 200 years with its incredibly horrible stereotypes that not even the radio series perpetuated. That was absolutely unwatchable. The only good thing about is the marvelous Hans Zimmer score, and, of course, once we finally GOT it, the William Tell Overture.

I LOVE Death Wish. What they don't understand is that the movie is based on true events, so the story is really just trying to stick to some basis of fact rather than be all cinematic and pander to audiences, which I respect tremendously.

I have a feeling that when Siskel was on his deathbed, he looked up at the ceiling and whispered the words "Clinton Spilsbury"; then he died. Siskel actually made me feel sympathetic towards this actor. He criticized his acting, but he didn't mention the fact that all of his lines were overdubbed by another actor, because they wanted a more "manly" voice. So Siskel was actually criticizing Spilsbury for another actor's line readings. Also, who thought Christopher Lloyd would be a good choice for the villain? "So.....Lone Ranger.....you're gonna keep blowing up my operation? Okie-doke!"

I actually liked Legend of the Lone Ranger. I didn't think it was as bad as the critics made it out to be. For some reason critics were always down on westerns.
@Unknown-bq9id Жыл бұрын
There were two big things against Legend of the Lone Ranger: first, Klinton Spilsbury was miscast in the role and, second, the producers of Legend had the bright (not!) idea of suing Clayton Moore to make him stop wearing his Lone Ranger mask to distinguish the two Lone Rangers--which PISSED off the fanbase and doomed the film before it even began...
@ricardocantoral7672 Жыл бұрын

The Legend of the Lone Ranger.... more like The Legend of Klinton Spilsbury. Even though he was utterly worthless as an actor, there's some sort of strange mystique about him. There are countless rumors out there -- that he was a nightmare to work with, that he picked fights and got into numerous physical scuffles, that he's a widower, that he's gay, that he's now an acting instructor, that he's dead... just about everything you can think of. Maybe someday he will make an actual appearance somewhere and put all the theories to rest. But I'm not holding my breath.
