I was lucky enough to have born when I was because _For Your Eyes Only_ was the first Bond movie I ever saw. I got into Bond just as the filmmakers decided to get serious and stop making silly Bond movies. I really loved _FYEO_ and Roger Moore's Bond, and still do. Note: It wasn't till a few years ago that I found out all of Carole Bouquet's dialogue in that movie was dubbed. That little piece of info doesn't exactly ruin the movie for me, but....well, I had to wonder how many other little Hollywood tricks I fell for as a kid. Next you'll be telling me the Ark of the Covenant isn't really being stored in a government warehouse and that those weren't real leprechauns in Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Great movies, and Julie Andrews sure surprised the heck out of me, in S.O.B., based off what she just did, in one of her scenes. We never expected to see our own Mary Poppins, or Maria von Trapp, show off herself, in one of her husband's movies.

Retro memory - I went to see Dragonslayer with my cousins. They sneaked out to see Rocky 3. I stayed. They were too dumb to keep it secret and immediately talked about Rocky when my uncle picked us up. They got punished. All I remember about Dragonslayer is the main character finding out the other boy is not really a boy and the wimpy king showing up after the dragon is already dead to take credit for killing it…

Ebert was wrong when he said John Saxon was appointed US Ambassador to Mexico; it was John Gavin, from Spartacus and Psycho (both 1960), who became Ambassador to Mexico in 1981, appointed by President Ronald Reagan, another actor.

I've seen S.O.B. a handful of times, and it has a lot of laughs and romantic bits involved, like Blake Edwards' "10".Truth be told, after watching the movie, I never saw "Mary Poppins" or "The Sound of Music" the same way again. Even so, Julie still dazzled the movie up in such a broad and bright fashion, with the songs, "Polly-Wolly Doodle" (the movie's overall theme song) and "Oh, Promise Me".

Dragon Slayer is still good even now, after the dragons in GOT. This movie from way back is a film you should definitely watch. The plot, involving a girl who's father does not want her to run the same risk as all the other girls in the sacrifice lottery is very well done, as is the other couple of plotlines. Sadly, the main star--the be-permed blond boy is not the strongest, or charismatic of actors--can't hold the viewer's attention, but when he is off the screen the movie comes to life. Turning to the Muppets, I loved the Muppet Show, and really did not care much for the films. The James Bond film here 'For Your Eyes Only' suffers from Roger Moore (he is not James Bond any more than Pierce Brosnon was) but the opening credits featuring the stunning Sheena Easton singing the main title theme is amazing. Watch that, and then turn out.

@@Fiveash-Art Hmm. I actually think George Lazenby was the best bond. He had the build of a spy, and while he was not as smooth Sean, his rough ex6erior elevated him for me.

What... what is this shy and humble version of Miss Piggy that Ebert's talking about? Certainly no one I've ever seen on screen. What episode of the Muppet Show had Piggy feeling so insecure she couldn't get out of bed? Is he just pulling this out of his ass?
@paramitch
@paramitch 8 ай бұрын
This exactly! Miss Piggy was never EVER presented as being shy or self-hating! Ebert's written review went further and said he didn't like it because she looked thinner in this -- I disagree with all of it, and he's really reading way too much into it.
