What is special about Sissel is not only her voice, which is truly angelic and crystal. It's just herself. She just enjoy singing very much, she's true and straightforward like a playing child. Her smile is so natural, and God, those sparks in her eyes ! I really envy Sissel's friends who have this luck of enjoying the time with her bright and great personality.

Hearing such a marvel help seeing a brighter future for the whole humanity. Although this song was initialy written and sung in french for the romantic TV serie almost 30 years ago named : "L'amour en héritage" (Love inheritance) and bearing this very title, I can't have enouh of it in norwegian, even though I cannot grasp any word of it - Sissel voice is so sweet, she is so charming, her face is elated and radiant of a mystical joy as she sings, that she could do it in any language of this world and still be clearly understood for she speaks straight to the heart of anyone upon he face of this earth - Thank you so much for posting this marvel

Sissel is from Bergen and in the Bergen dialect the "r" is a uvular as in French and German. Here she sings with her regular "r," the one used in the Bergen dialect. In other songs, she uses the "r" used in the Oslo dialect and in most of Norway.

If you're interested, this was written as main theme for Nowegian serial with international name Mistral Daughter by french romanian Vladimir Cosma as instrumental. Later became a signature song for Nana Mouskouri. Well known also in Finland (under name Rakkaus) and so on. Maybe someone will sing also in polish like Kohany or smth like that. ;-)

@miriamgoldy I was in Spain at the time and she just move there from England at my request after meeting her two days from the end of her vacation. We we married four months later. That was three children and 44 years ago. I tell her every day how beautiful she is and have never tired of her beautiful British Midlands accent, her flashing green eyes and the same smile she gave me so long ago. So keep smiling you never know who you will meet next.

I might disappoint you as I don't really draw any associations to my own language :( We pronunce "ś" pretty much like you pronunce the "kj" conjunction but that's just the one sound; we simply don't have any words with similar combination of sounds in Polish, so I don't subconsciously give the word any additional meaning. Everything about "kjærlighet" - the sounds, the melody - reminds me of the songs the nightingales outside my window used to sing. Pure nature :)
@paulsutton58963 жыл бұрын
Correction to the notes. Norwegians may have watched "Mistral's daughter" on BBC television. (because they were able to pick up the signal). But it was not a British drama. I think it was first seen in North America. The song is delightful, whatever the origin. I think this is the second time "Only love" was sung by Sizzle. The first was a very immature recording in 1987. I say she is getting better. But the definitive version (imo) is sung by Nana Mouskouri. I am not a detractor. And I come with the important news that she gets there, in the end. One thing we can certainly say about Sizzle is that she was far better looking in at the age of thirty two (in 2001) than she was at the age of eighteen (in 1987). Is this true of all Norwegian ladies?

OK, Celestial voice accepted and embraced, now I find myself becoming more and more deeply entranced by that incredibly expressive face, as seductive as her voice and under such easy, natural control...just who is this undeserving lout she is thinking of, why not *_ME!_* *_I,_* who love her more than any mere mortal ever could! Aw, shucks :(!

Now my question is why is she singing her "r" sound like she's Danish? In all of her other Norwegian songs, she does the Norwegian/Swedish "r", but here she's doing it like a Dane/German.
@Penzig11 жыл бұрын
Gotta point out that she has a "french r" dialect(from west-norway), which I agree is beautiful. But please come here and listen to some of the hundred other dialects, and you might change your mind :P Listen to this female voice for instance: /watch?v=5Xb41l5x4f4

@miriamgoldy I'm sure you are in your own way. Remember the greatest beauty comes from within. When you meet people or pass them on the street give them your biggest smile. They will remember it the rest of the day and some will think of you as a most beautiful creature. My wife when I met her thought her nose was too big, her rear too big, her legs too short and more. I saw a beautiful woman with golden hair, flashing green eyes, a beautiful English accent , very intelligent and sexy.

she's a marvelous singer, for sure, and a beautiful woman, seems like a beautiful person too, but her eyebrows are odd looking...but why do i even mention something so trivial and superficial; probably cuz i like watching her expressive face while she sings so completely beautifully and what women do to their eyebrows, for some reason, is puzzling to me; stage makeup I guess.

Well she hasn't got the specs for a start (a real minus) and she's not short like Lulu, or shoeless like Sandie Shaw, or pseudo French like Petula Clarke, or a yez yez girl or Contestant fron X Factor or the Voice. so you're right: she should stack shelves in Tescos. Banana Mascara could dance the pants of ole Churchill.

@@andreseet3877 I guess you have been living under a rock ? Sissel sang the Olympic Hymn and Lillehammer 94 winter olympics theme song. She sang on the overture of Titanic movie sountrack and has sung and performed with many famous singers, such as Neil Sedaka, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo. Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson, Charles Aznavour, Josh Groban, Bryn Terfel, Warren G, Judy Kuhn, James Horner and The Chieftains among others. That said, Nana Mouskouri is older and started her career before Sissel.
