I actually know sister Cindy! She was a common sight on my college campus. Her and brother Jeb would always amass a huge crowd consistently just for the sheer absurdity of their sermons. It was always a spectacle: the crowd would always really feed into their sermons and hype them up to get them to say ridiculous things. There was even a guy at my college who would would dress up in a gorilla suit and show up, without fail every time, just add to the absurdity. Sister Cindy and Brother Jeb would say some pretty dicey & edgy stuff. Brother Jeb once got hyped into saying that the "black community had abandoned God so God punished black communities by cursing black fathers to abandon their children". So a black student in the crowd asked for other black students in the crowd to call their dad and put them on speaker phone and the dozens of dudes talking to their dads on the phone completely drowned out brother Jeb and it was the funniest and most chaotic thing I have ever witnessed.

@L - Catholics are the only Christian denomination which reveres Mary at all. The Immaculate Conception in Catholicism actually refers to Mary’s conception being sinless somehow (pretty sure her parents boned to make her) in order to make her somehow a little bit divine? It doesn’t make sense to me, it isn’t biblically sound, but the Catholic Church was very interested in having a Mother Goddess type figure to make conversions easier in polytheistic societies. I’m not Catholic myself, but I am Lutheran and our whole deal is question everything and decide for yourself, and I went to a Catholic high school and had some fantastic fights with theology teachers.

I’m late to the party here, they know what they’re saying is absurd. My ex, me, and her friend actually befriended Mikhail who was part of their group. We didn’t agree with what they said but we still befriended this guy. Once we got to know him more, he admitted that they know everything they say is absurd. They preach their beliefs to an extreme on purpose to draw a crowd. He said they don’t actually think as extreme as they do, but the core of the belief is true. It is all on purpose to draw a crowd and get their word out to more people. He said they want their word out to as many purple as possible and as long as a few people hear them out they call it a success. It’s just a ploy to get people to think about their beliefs and possibly convert.

The ironic part is that I go to a boarding school (highschool not college) but we’re on a college campus. In my sophomore year we had people come out and do a similar thing like sister Cindy and they had a sign listing all the reasons you’d go to hell (Muslim, gay, feminist, suicidal ya know, just the basics/j) and we kinda just sat there and yelled at them and laughed and we had a bunch of lesbians making out in front of them until eventually the campus police came and we’re like “yo, this is causing a disruption we have to ask you to leave” it was hella funny and I was late to class to watch it. Im a senior now so this was a while back way before the Covid stuff so we didn’t have that factor.

I had no idea her name was Sister Cindy but she certainly frequented my college campus, so much to the point that a friend of mine developed a reputation rooted in heckling her and publicly contesting a lot of what she had to say.
