However, I have heard of instances [usually via the news] of new "innovative" treatments that are not available in the UK where people try to fund raise to pay the cost of treatment, travel and accommodation... but yes the NHS in the UK is "free at the point of delivery"

Below is my reasoning, but I think the brother should give money to his uncle and if the uncle wants to use it to help June, so be it. I understand the brother feels betrayed and hurt I also understand the uncle. He helped his nephew even though he had no obligation to do so. He put himself in trouble to do so. Yet I don't see he asked to be repaid, nor see the brother offering to repay the uncle. Even though the brother is doing very well now. The uncle probably thinks "I helped you but you won't help her?" With my solution, the brother has repaid his uncle, hasn't helped his sister, and whatever the uncle decides to do with the money is on him.

He is in The U.K. i know this because my paternal grandmother was from England, the NHS is the healthcare system there and disability living allowance was income support for people with disabilities from Britain's old legacy benefits system (welfare). There is no social security in Britain, there is a program similar to it, but she would have been far to young to apply for benefits from it and she would not be entitled to her husband's benefit as unlike in some countries it does not pass on to immediate family after death if i remember correctly.
