this is the song thatd be playing in the background when you walk into a chili's or an outback steak house, host would greet you, "party of 4? smoking? non smoking? booth? table?" And your server would be some college guy named "Turk" and he'd offer you a raspberry lemonade but you order the pina colada and he'd say something in his bro-y voice like "all right, its five o'clock somewhere". This took place in the 90s and life was great

I was actually in this crowd when the video was being filmed, I was 17. It was a defining moment in my life. The song did not have nearly as much meaning for me then as it does now. I love Sister Hazel's music and what they stand for, they have touched many people of many ages. True Artists like Sister Hazel don't get the true exposure they deserve.

Would be curious to know *where* that was filmed, and how you got tickets? It looks like a very small venue, and it's obvious it was rigged with multiple "flying" cameras and special lighting... a record label sponsored "event", if you will.

So true I was just saying this a couple days ago to someone. I grew up in the 90s but i also love 70s music (well I love almost all music). The 70s music is so pure to me because there are certain technologies that were not available at that time. Listening to the artist's singing and rhythm without the technologies that we have now is just so pure.

Talented bands are around since the 80s have hundreds of songs & still sound the same now as they did then! ie- Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Skid Row, Tom Kiefer from Cinderella! Tom has been busting out hits since the 80s & had vocal chord surgery 6 times & still sounds 10 times better than Sister Hazel!

Back in the mid 1990s, I lived not far from Gainesville, FL, where Sister Hazel is from. They were doing an interview on a local radio station and did a live a cappella version of this song, with the drummer using a phone book for percussion. It was absolutely amazing. It was clear they used very little production when recording this song because their impromptu version sounded so good. Been a fan of this song ever since.

He wonders why he stays, what he sees in her, but in the end he can't seem to extricate himself from this unfulfilled relationship: *It's hard to say what it is I see in you* *Wonder if I'll always be with you* *Words can't say and I can't do* *Enough to prove it's all for you*

@@shatonyasmith I know, right? Our generation is always about real good music. You don't hear those anymore.

Right, instead of being on their phones with Facebook live, or recording it. Don't get me wrong that's cool and all, but I think it also takes away from the experience.

He has one of the most amazing and unique voices ever. Like the greats (and a prerequisite for making my top singers list) he sounds even better live. In an era where studios clean up and alter voices to make mediocre singers sound good actual talents stand out.

This is truly one of my favorite songs of all time. It's honestly refreshing to hear such a beautiful song with emotion not having to be mumbled in an effeminate voice like we hear today in most of our modern music. Ofc there's nothing wrong with sounding like that; pretty much every decade has had a popular effeminate male singer or two. But they can't all sound that way- some more masculine voices are required too.

You can thank the Pachelbel's Canon for that, which ironically is what the Blue's Travelers song "Hook" is about.

This video was actually shot at the Ivory Tusk bar(upstairs) in Tuscaloosa,AL. I’d say around 1997ish. I was on the front row. My friends and I are shown up close at the end of the video next to the stage.
