4th story: This is a rare time where the OP is the jerk. I get it, you're introverted, and your girlfriend knows you don't likr going out a lot, but you promised her that you would take her out, and you didn't. Also, your girlfriend had good justification for being upset at you.

Story 1: Wow, why on earth would anyone, friends, family or banks, give a single cent to this dumb SIL? She is so horrible with money its not even funny. You want to live lavishly... then you have to make damn sure you're able to afford it, not going into crazy debt like this. The whole treatment of the mother during her illness was absolutely sickening and i can't see why she would have ever agreed to it at any point... and made 10 times worse with all the bad documents and paperwork that happened after her passing. I dont know what country this took place in, but i know if i were the OP and/or extended family, i would've gone after her big time legally, and definitely not given her another dime. If anyone was being taken advantage of, it was everyone else by the SIL. Screw her. Story 2: There is a big difference between parents just wanting to look out for their kids and just being overbeing and using emotional blackmail. The OP really needs to move out sooner then later here i think. The OP definitely wants to better herself in the grand scheme of things, and i say go for it. It doesn't matter what happens, the mom is just going to be bitter no matter what she does or doesnt do. If the OP is able to limit contact going forward, i would maybe suggest that too. Story 3: This is a really tough one for me. Some people out there are both just not good at cleaning and like to live their lives messy. While this bf doesn't sound like a hoarder, he definitely seems to live life messy and untidy. If this is a deal-breaker for the OP, then she needs to leave, and right now. She's seemed to try to help him with cleaning and all that, but if it hasnt sunk in by now, he is either completely oblivious to it all, or he just flat out doesn't care. Story 4: I think both parties are jerks here. You did promise her to go out on the Friday night to this new sushi place and if you didnt want to go to it, you shouldve told her ahead of time that you were going to cook at home. Also, dont start rolling your eyes and tell her that if she doesnt like it she can go... what do you expect her to do, stay? As for the gf, while i can understand her leaving when he said that, i think her flipping out on a home cooked meal was a pretty big over-reaction. She still could've been disappointed, but to reject it saying she wanted fish instead of pasta wasn't a good way to go about it either. Not many bfs are willing to cook at home for their gfs, so it still could've been somewhat appreciated. Overall, this whole debacle was pretty dumb and i think both parties need to grow up or go seperate ways. Story 5: OP is not remotely a jerk here... the sisters and parents are. I just dont understand why other people think they have any kind of say in the naming of another persons baby. This is solely up to the mother and father, no one else. Its one thing to ask what the name will be, but to constantly give suggestions and criticize what you may select is very uncalled for. Honestly, if the parents and sisters are going to continue to attack the OP like this, i would tell them that they will never be allowed to see the baby once he is born. You certainly dont want toxic people like that around your child like that... and who knows, they could be like some of the other crazy people we've heard before where they try to re-name your baby's name. Glad that the brothers are supportive of the OP here.

For the one about the messy boyfriend, I listened to it a few times and I think she's exaggerating. The way she described the place vs how she described how to clean really paints a picture. He should realize that in a relationship you have to do some activities that you don't like just to make your partner smile. But in this instance I don't think the OP and his girlfriend are well suited for another. The OP seems more of an introvert and his girlfriend seems more of an extrovert.

With the last story, i have to support the family. I've worked in a job where i met several people with stupid names. My favorite was Shithead (pronounced Shi-Theed but spelled "Shithead"). Trust me, a kid's given name is an incredibly important thing and having a bad one can ruin their life. Sloan and Finley may not be as bad as Shithead or Qwuanza (Yes that is how it was spelled) but they're still pretty bad. Sloan sounds like the name of an evil bank president in a bad 80's movie who's going to shut down the local community center and Finley makes him sound destined to be a fisherman.

I know of someone who named their *daughter* Finley. And while I won't say what the rest of the name is, said all together it's even worse than just naming a girl Finley. The mom is a nice young woman so I wouldn't say anything to her about it, but geez. People really need to think this name stuff through.

Which makes it even more of a shame because they should know firsthand how horrible other children can be. @@clericofchaos1 IKR? People need to remember that they're naming a whole person who will spend most of their lives as an adult. They need to think about potential nicknames, things it will rhyme with, how the name sounds when said aloud, first and last as well as first, middle and last, and if the initials spell anything. I know of someone with the initials A,S,S. And since we spend the majority of our lives as an adult, using cutesy names like Pixie or Sunshine is abhorrent, as is using normal names but giving them horrendous spellings with apostrophes and three or four extra letters in them. I guess they want the name to be unique or original, but they're condemning the kid to a lifetime of spelling their name to others.

You guys are full of it. First, the names Sloan and Finley are normal names, if a little out of the ordinary. Second, the family is trying to dictate what the OP is doing with her life. They’re claiming that Jackson is a stupid name. Yes, if everyone had the same views, then the world would be easier to live in, but that’s not how the world is and personal views, preferences and values usually are based on how someone lives, where and how they grew up and the lifestyle they have. If the brother is being supportive of the OP, then chances are that she is most likely within her 20s at youngest.

As someone with a name not unheard of but not at all common, it is quite tiresome to have to spell and repeat your name several times because people have never heard it before despite there being a song and a movie with the name. If it's less common than my name, I feel for the things they're going to have to go through in all likelihood. Another thing people shouldn't do but do anyway is give a kid a name that ends with the same sound that the last name starts with because the sounds run together and can make it difficult for others to get your name right. Such as what yours here appears to be like. Parents should remember that they're not the one who's going to be saddled with that 'unique' name, the kid is.

BF could possibly not have the self awareness of what looks dirty and things while OP might be a neat freak who could be over dramatizing things if they are saying that even things under bed sheets feel dirty. Likw how clean dose clean need to be? They could have ocd when it comes to how clean things need to be or something and for instance boyfriend didnt empty trach because it was not full yet and didnt notice any smell while she did.
