The amount of coolness and devil may care attitude that Sister Michael showed every episode will forever be iconic
@barryhinson98197 ай бұрын
Not to mention sardonic wit , incredularity. and scorn, brilliant script, brilliant actors- all of em , brilliant show... barry in hobart Tasmania Australia. (ex Brit, Mancester born and bred). P.S. A modern classic, to be looked back on over many years for memories and many laffs.,

Not to mention truth and realism(of situations) and cynicism! Classic comedic acting. From all the cast. The two characters highlighted rule with a fist of iron, though they too are fallible- they can be sucked in. Brilliant script writting.

To be devil-may-care is to be cheerful and nonchalant. Sister Mary has more of a cynical and blase attitude.

I loved this show. The lives of the adults and their anxieties, the young children growing up and going through all the stuff teenagers go through was all so artfully woven among the backdrop of The Troubles. This show was a masterpiece.

I live in a small town that has a convent where sick and elderly nuns retire and I have met Sister Michael’s modern day, American counterpart in an older nun that supervised the really old nuns. She’d bring some of them into the restaurant I worked at for lunch weekly and always had herself a whiskey or two. She was hilarious but non nonsense and she loved I’d joke right back. My great aunt was a nun and my great uncle is a priest (and kind of douchey just like Father Paul on Derry Girls but that’s for another day.)

@@aw9680I can't tell if James is looking up to Father Peter in a gay way or an adoring little brother way. Both would make sense. He's pretty emphatically heterosexual otherwise. I don't think he's gay, just impressed by Father Peter and appreciative of being treated nicely for once
