I tried to register for the virtual class but it was sold out and it was very expensive so I just went on KZbin and went from there. I ordered the nappy loc tool but it hasn’t come yet so I went to Walmart and bought plastic yarn needles. I started my retightening on Saturday and finished up on Tuesday. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I probably will not do it all the time but at least I know that I can do it myself. It was very satisfying to be able to do it myself. I love the results.

Kisha McCoy I’m glad your results came out great! Once I saw the influx in price, it was a pause for me! Update me on how you like the loc tool once you get it!

Hi Monae, First, thank you for your service as an ER nurse. I'm sure these days can be very challenging for you. Applause to you. You mentioned about the Virtual Retightening Training. March 2020 marks my 12 years locked. Up to about a month ago, I never wanted to take the retightening class, as the lock mature, they become thinner and will need to combine with other locks to strengthen them. I am not sure what I can or cannot say without violating the agreement. I had hoped that they would send a survey to those who participated in the course to see if they were comfortable with the training. I can say this, I got my hair locked because I did not want to mess around with it. So, this training was never on my list of things to do. However, I don't like my hair to look unkempt. I took the class as a temporary fix until I can see my loctician. It made me appreciate her even more now. If you don't have a problem with doing your own hair, and from viewing the video you do not, then I would say it would be worth it. If you are like me, it is good to know the technique but I don't feel it was worth the money. I've calculated how many appointments do I need to miss before I get my money worth. If I calculate the amount of time, effort, and frustration as well as cost, I'm not even at the halfway point.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Also, I appreciate your input about the Virtual Retightening Training. It was definitely more pricey that I expected, and ended up not having enough time to schedule my class before an upcoming move. I was able to get some pointers on self retis, and will be attempting my first one soon! I understand and agree with your viewpoints!

Thank you for sharing your info. I watched videos on KZbin to learn how to do my own hair! I have been retieing mine for six months. Enjoy and be safe!

Hi, I love your videos. I work out a lot too and was wondering how do you keep your hair dry with all the sweating? I feel like my locks and slipping due to the excess of sweat moisture on the hair. Do you rinse your hair after every workout? Thanks

Saran Sow Since I’m fully locd, I just go with the flow🤦🏾♀️ Lol. When it’s braided like this, or any other style, I try to air dry as much as possible. Even when it’s loose. Sweat can definitely cause slippage! You may have to keep your hair, or the the areas that have a lot of slippage, in braids... much like when you braid and band. I know it’s a lot of work, but it will help! I don’t rinse after each workout. When I feel like it’s ridiculously sweaty, I’ll rinse and not wash. I hope this helps answer your questions!💛

How long did you go without washing your hair after the initial installment. I have a scalp issue too. I want to get sister locs, but have to maintain my scalp regularly.

If I’m not mistaken, I went roughly 10 days before my first wash. It’s totally possible to maintain, but may be an interesting experience until you’re able to get a wash regimen/routine that works for your locs and scalp.
