Wow, this mini hydroelectric power setup with the Francis turbine is amazing! It's incredible to see the power of engineering in action on a smaller scale. Watching this reminds me of the kind of hands-on projects Moonpreneur offers to help kids dive into STEM concepts practically. It’s a fantastic way to get young minds excited about real-world applications.

YES Excellent idea = So Britain WHY don't we adapt our reservoir run off's to power hydro like this. The infrastructure is there. It must be cheaper than Wind & NO ugly wind turbines on the moors. You can store water but you can't store wind ??? There's a waterfall run off on nearly every reservoir.

Just imagine finding a random tiny yet masterfully crafted hydroelectroplant while hiking
All that work for 60 watts. The amount of flow you have is amazing. If you focus all of that flow into the container and then release it through a small opening directed towards a small jet turbine you'd be getting thousands of watts.

You're absolutely correct... All hydroelectric dams have the turbines down at the bottom... I grew up just a few miles from the Niagara Power Projects, and have taken the tours of both power plants on the American and Canadian sides... They are AWESOME sites to see...
@flynn32036 ай бұрын
@@cschuh4695 Wow that's impressive and I didn't know they had hydro plants there!
@cschuh46956 ай бұрын
@@flynn3203 Yup, right across the river from each other, and about 4 miles north of Niagara Falls... Both have large underground water intake tunnels above the Falls that terminate into large reservoirs behind each dam... The Canadian dam serves Southern Ontario, and the American dam serves most of New York State and New York City... They were built strictly for power generation, and neither one actually dams the Niagara River... They're built on the sides of the cliffs that the river carved over the last gazillion years... Check them out on Google Earth...

Next time you make something with bricks, wet them. Helps with adhesion and allows the mortar to set properly without the dry brick sucking up the moisture form it. As an idea, you want your brick inside one of those buckets of water until you don't see air bubbles escaping anymore. Keep in mind that this also means you have to leave the wall to dry for a while until it's ready to receive mortar (for the face of the wall).

If people constructed hundreds of probably thousands of such hydro power generators in their semi mountainous region, the shortage of electricity may be covered. 15-20 such self built,self maintained hydroelectric dams for 4-5 houses.

5:04 A simple way to make that water spillway resistant to water erosion is to press sand into the face of it after you've brought it to an even surface. If you can get your hands on pure silica sand OR crushed glass (but wear a mask for that one, it's super dangerous), you can press it into the mortar. The finer the media you choose, the better and it will form a very sturdy layer that will be very resistant to erosion but also impact (here in Europe we made exterior plinths using a similar method, i've seen the stuff last as far as 58 years without even so much as single sign of wearing down, despite being beaten on by weather and the usual abuse of being a street level piece of architecture/element).
