I love seeing where you went from provided gear to your own! I just got through my first hour of backfly (Im a little slow, but no rush) and I am pumped for when mine comes in. 🙂 Can't wait to nail backflying so I can start sit fly. :3 This looks awesome! You had an awesome instructor.

unfortunately the coach let you learn by taking the wind on the front of your body (which makes you back ... hence the position of your arms to compensate: stretched on the back). The sitting position is primarily a back position. It's much better from 8:00 :)

Good work, I have only done back fly in the tunnel but managed to sitfly in the air, no idea if im back or forward sliding though
@Gracedobosz6 жыл бұрын
you need another person who can sit fly reliably to see if you are back sliding. Most likely you are cuz everyone does unless you actively work to stop it.

If you have a video watch to see if you're hunched forward and/or legs are curled underneath your butt. If either of those are yes you're probably back sliding

Rookie here. Why is sit the fundamental flight position for headdown? Why not proper back flying? Going to your back is much easier, faster, much more stable and can go almost as fast as sit
@Drifterteetea5 жыл бұрын
Sit flying is ALL about using your back. Chin down but head back, hands higher than elbows rotates shoulders/opens chest to get lift. A lot of times the flyer in the video was trying to get lift on their legs when in fact if they had put their had back more and rotated the shoulders back it would have been fine. The aim is to make between the shoulders like the holding part of a spoon (to capture air). This is even more the case when working on high speed in face carving.

@@Drifterteetea the flyer in the video looked liked knee flying and not sit flying. But it's better after a while.

@@martzy7536 need to push heels back, rotate hips over and fly the chest for lift on knee fly. Maybe they were trying to knee fly but didn't ubderstand where to gain lift....

Why does the coach start teaching from flying on hands? Despite it adds more stability it requires more strength, takes more energy and teaches wrong technique. As a result it takes longer to study and adds bad habits. Anyway I appreciate your persistence and happy to see you sit flying :)
@Gracedobosz5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what you mean? Mike silva is one of the best and most efficient tunnel instructors in the US, so I don't think he is teaching the wrong technique. Maybe you are just unable to properly assess the training from the video angle. He focuses on flying with the legs. You cannot see his communication well from the video either.
