I’m impressed with that paddle clip. So simple too. I have ordered one for both myself and my brother. Thanks for showing us that great video.

Great vid and some really great storage and accessory tips I’d not seen before or even considered. I particularly like the sponges in mesh bag idea (genius) and attaching kit with carabiners for stowage. Looking forward to my next trip out.

Great video Mick. A different world on the water...I've just done part of the River Spey (Scotland) in open canoe... FANTASTIC trip and wild camps.

We've been out on the Peak Forest & Macc Canals this weekend. Both were nice but neither look as idyllic as where you stopped for a picnic - will be visiting the Lancaster soon for sure! The Kayak looks really nifty. You hinted at going on other water at some point but don't knock canals as they have a big plus point - the lack of currant makes 'there & back' trips more feasible than river trips, and wild camping along them isn't too frowned upon either ;)

Now you have my interest...how is wild camping not too frowned upon... I thought it was ! The canals are great to paddle I must agree, very tranquil...

+JesterBushcraft Have wild camped on the Trent & Mersey for a night on a cycling trip with no hassle - sat eating my evening meal a passer by even commented on it being a cracking place to camp! There's a canoeing forum 'Song of the Paddle' where you'll find plenty of threads of similar experiences. The towpath is owned by Canal River Trust and whilst they don't openly permit camping, plenty of folk do so respectfully...and that last word is the key ;) Speaking of keys, I bought a waterways key from a boat chandlers on my trip. This meant things weren't too wild & I could use the loo & hot showers at Kidsgrove. Not very Bear Grylls lol!

Ace - always fancied paddling the Lancaster Canal. Does the middle hatch stay waterproof with the leash running under it?

I loved the video. How physical is kyacking? Do you get tired?
@JesterBushcraft5 жыл бұрын
Lt H if you’ve never done it before, your arms will get tired and you may get a little bit of back ache, but over time and with a good quality back rest you will soon overcome this. Leisurely kayaking on still water is very enjoyable, as you can go at your own pace, stopping for a rest when you like. It is a great way to enjoy nature and scenery from a different aspect. Get yourself a used one and give it a go. Let us know how you get on...

Where’s the best place to put in for the Lancaster canal? Just recently bought a 2+1 sot kayak and looking to do some canals.

I usually park at the Hand & Dagger pub, then just go down the steps to the canal 👍

Dazza Brakes I have since sold this kayak and purchased an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 which has more storage space. I did an overnight camp in the Lake District if you check out my other videos. Love the new kayak...

hi mate English woodsman here .. I am looking into getting a kayak.. Do you need a licence to go on the canal with it ??
@sanddonkey87387 жыл бұрын
English woodsman If you join the British canoeing association its £45 you get 4500 miles of canal to roam on... and get to wear a dinkie badge to prove you have right of assess. Cheers.

Steven Parrish I bought an Ocean Kayak Prowler, which I love (watch my video), but it’s all down to personal preference, so do your research and make sure it’s right for you...

do you need a licence to go on canals
@JesterBushcraft5 жыл бұрын
peter stringer technically I think you do, but doubt many people who kayak on the canal, have one. I’d just plead ignorant if challenged...
