Its a wonder how Nikhil kaka had such clarity in his taans eapecially the sapaat ones. And how each of his sapaats just kept on going! God only knows how many hours of practice every day!!!

He used to stay close-by with Pandit Manas chakraborty... The 'para'(mohallah) echoed with their riyaaz ( heard from a vocalist who learnt from Manas Chakraborty)... Sadly none from his family learnt music!

The very approach to music which is a matter of joy and bliss and emotions to the listeners ,as tried by Pt Nikhil Banerjee,while performing his sitar playing publicly ,wherever the venue might be, he used to be completely submerged in portraying its beauty ,forgetting everything else around him,to give his best to the concerned audience. He worshipped his music ,through his playing sitar and not for cheap public entertainment. This mentality had made him entirely a different musician as a professional sitar plar from the rest ones .

The CD is very good for 90 percent of listeners. It is only the audiophiles who go for more clarity, sound stage, ambience and subtle notes and sub notes.

His music plays with the strings of the heart- the soul within.It creates a special new world for every listener for which no written music notes are necessary. And amazingly, there is the slow emergence of the resultant grace in the form of a more gentle blissful view towards the external life. Glad to know that you are a musician -composer.
