Sith Pureblood Species | Star Wars: the Old Republic

Although the name “Sith” is now used by the order of Force users who call upon the dark side, the term originally referred to a Force-sensitive species of red-skinned humanoids. The term “Sith pureblood” is now used to distinguish between those descended from the species and the order itself.

The Sith species was discovered three thousand years ago on Korriban by exiled human Dark Jedi fleeing Republic space after their defeat in a war called the Second Great Schism. The Dark Jedi quickly enslaved the primitive culture, and over many generations, the two groups intermingled.

Darth Ikoral
Eventually, the elite ruling class of Korriban consisted almost exclusively of the hybridized offspring of the Dark Jedi and the high priests of the Sith people. These offspring tended to exhibit the physical characteristics of their Sith parentage, such as red skin, yellow eyes, bony protrusions on the face or head, and fleshy tendrils dangling from the cheeks and chin. For a brief time, Sith blood was seen as a sign of weakness-but the modern Empire believes purity of heritage carries the strength of the Force.

One of my biggest Star Wars hot takes is that the Republic and Jedi genocide of the Sith species is seriously one of the most important events in galactic history and is the main cause for the eternal struggle between the Sith and Jedi that defines the rest of galactic history They are such a cool and important species But yeah, having a Sith Pureblood Jedi isn't just strange because of Sith Pureblood generally being aligned with the Sith but because the Jedi, at least historically, considered the Sith species as unredeemable and unworthy to exist.

The Jedi of the Old Republic Era when the game takes place are different from back in the Great Galactic Hyperspace War, so they'd be welcoming of a Sith Pureblood if they could be redeemed by a Jedi or born outside of Imperial space

But thanks to that historical background a Sith Pureblood working with the Jedi doesn't make much sense, you know seeing as sith and imperials were taught from childhood how the Jedi had tried to wipe out their entire species. It's not just a philosophical disagreement, the Imperial population in general and the Sith pureblood in particular view the Jedi as an existential threat to the their existence

I once made a Sith Pureblood Jedi Sentinel. She essentially suffered from severe amnesia at some point and was found on some Outer Rim world where there just so happened to be a group of Jedi around. They found and questioned her, and when they realised she had no idea who or what she was, they brought her to Tython, where she was trained in the ways of the Jedi. Of course, while her memory of her old life never returned, she did eventually learn of her species after asking her master why the other Padawans were frightened of her. Since then, she made an effort to be the best Jedi she can be, to prove that even the most "evil" species can have someone with a good heart. However, due to the Sith Pureblood species' natural predisposition to the Dark Side, she tends to have quite a temper, lacks patience, and is quick to speak her mind regardless of how others might feel about it. This, predictably, left her with very few who actually like her, with the only other Jedi that she'd call a friend being Kira Carsen, with whom she has more in common than she initially believed. Yes, while playing her, I did make a few Dark Side choices here and there. But she never killed or threatened to kill anyone if she could prevent it. During the KotFE and KotET expansions, she often relied on Valkorion's power if she believed it would help her allies. And she did indeed choose to become Empress of Zakuul over merely being the Alliance Commander. Amnesiac or not, it's in her nature to seek more power.

"Going into a deep dive of the lore" are my favourite words to hear in those type of videos! Also, about Aberon in the Academy - depending on your answer, he claims that the survival of the species itself ensures the preservations of the Sith teachings, and to him, those two are one and the same. I thought that's some nice insight into their way of thinking at the time. Like many people, I went with the PB Warrior, although the idea of a Sith Consular taken in by the Jedi seems great to explore someday, as a way of "subverting expectations" lol (and your character looked good).

This is one of the more confusing but fun elements of SWTOR: Sith the philosophy vs Sith the species. In playing a Pureblood, you are a member of a hybridized species whose entire homeworld, culture and even genetics has been "colonized" and usurped into something else. Even the name of your people has been taken. How do you fit into this galaxy now? Do you reclaim or accept? How does your character move in the universe when what you once were means such darkness.

I am glad to see that you really take the time to explain that pureblood sith doesnt really that the character has only sith origins but simply that he has enough to make his skin red and eyes red to yelllow (even so a lot of sith descendants have also this characteristic). I've had this discussion a long time ago in a lor discord server and I am happy to see someone who really knows explaining it that clearly. An other thing for what the book of the sith has only add confusion by using the swtor term in an innapropriate way...

@@codafett well it said pretty much the same thing as the movie style intro that each inquisitor gets (the black screen with moving text) except for the last paragraph which reads: “Suffering the ultimate humiliation of slavery for association with a fallen Sith Lord, pureblood (your character name) has been allowed to join the Empire’s castoffs and given one more chance to master the dark arts of the Sith or die trying….”, that’s pretty much it, still it gives a little bit more of flavor as to why your Pureblood ended up as they did.

I find strange in my Case, I Created a Sith Warrior Zabrakk, I thought it would have some different dialogues in The Inteo, specially with The first Master, who are a Supremacist, who wants to Kill a "Mixed Blood", but my Character is an "Alien" and The Empire was supose to be "Racists" against Aliens right? With my Bounty Hunter Zabrakk I got some dialogues related to this, at least I think they were insulting me for my Race, or Maybe was because I was a Bounty Hunter... They Said somenthing like "Your Kind is not welcomed" and such, so I am not sure about that

@@Kravenrogue The Zabraks have a unique line when you seek your ancestor’s mask during the inquisitor storyline. When you mention that the mask belongs to you, the guy wearing the mask will laugh and say something about how you couldn’t have ancestral ties to a legendary sith because you’re a “Zabrak slave.” I got it during my first ever playthrough of SWTOR and I thought other species would get it too, but I haven’t found any; the other races I have played through the inquisitor storyline are just called alien slaves, but their specific species are not referenced (at least from the ones I’ve played with). The agent also has a moment where you can bring up your character’s homeworld, and the answer to Kaliyo changes based on your species. I just found this recently and I think it is so cool.

I have like over 30 characters on 2 realms , and yet i come back to her every once in a while right from when i have started to play this game, back in 2016. It should be noted you only need ONE character to get to level 10 to access your legacy. Once you do that, any characters created after will immediately have access to the legacy (though if you're subscribed or have gotten the cartel coins to do it, you have likely been playing long enough to not have to worry about having a legacy).

My Sith smuggler is one of my created favs of late. Gets around in full body armour, so as to not arouse suspicion. Is the proud founder of a weapons manufacturer that sells to Republic and Imperial clients alike while keeping a low profile. (Having Twi'lek models brandishing your merchandise is better for business anyway...) Yet if someone does catch a glimpse of his red flesh he would simply state he is Zeltron to the uneducated. This is not exactly a lie, either, since his mother was a Zeltron, who smuggled her infant son away from his true Sith father, who treated her like breeding stock. Guy is even Force-sensitive, which he applies to his skill as a pilot and marksman.

I know pureblood jedi are strange but my female pureblood knight is probably my favorite character. Her background is that when her and her twin were born the jedi council sensed the birth of a pureblood strong in the light side, something quite rare. The jedi send a small strike team into imperial space to abduct the child and raise it to be a jedi, a symbol that even the sith can find the light. When the jedi reach the crib they find two children, they take both but only escape with one, the wrong one, my dark side sith pureblood knight. Her brother is my light side pureblood warrior (i love the legacy family system).

My Sith Inquisitor is named Siqsa'Nul ( Siqsa meaning "Demon" in Sith language and "Nul" like "Null" as an empty void kind of meaning, he wants to nullify his enemies which is almost everyone lol ). I made several Sith Pureblood characters. One of which is a Jedi Knight. His parents shipped him off to Korriban for training, but his shuttle was hijacked by slavers. The young Sith was originally going to be sold into slavery but the auction was crashed by the Jedi. One Jedi was a Sith Pureblood who had turned to the light. He saw this young child and decided to bring him back to the Order. Eventually, the two became Padawan and Master. The Jedi's siblings were then stuck with their parents. One of them became an Inquisitor, she was mentally unhinged and became very powerful in the Force. The last two children fled the Empire and stayed on Tatooine for a while, but the elder of the two left Tatooine and her little brother and later became a Bounty Hunter. She always regretted leaving her brother but was only able to get herself off-world. The last child managed to get off-world by sneaking onboard a pirate's ship. They took the child in for a while after seeing that he was fairly strong with the Force. His crew and first wife were killed and after that, he decided to become a smuggler. He would later remarry a Miraluka, who would also die, one of his children went on to be a Jedi, and the other a Trooper.

I have four Sithborn, Red Sith, Korribanites, a family. I first made a warrior, marauder, Caeasat, who rose up as Darth Baras' apprentice and overthrew him to become the Emperor's Wrath. You know this story. His wife, a retired Imperial Operative, No'elriss born without force sensitivity. They had twins. Aldronyx, and Uthovris. When the family were in transit one day, a rival sith lord directed an assassination attempt on Caeasat and his heirs. Though the twins were too young for any formal combat training, instinct took over and the boys threw themselves at the assassins, with the result that Uthovris recieved a permanent scar across his face and the family were separated. Uthovris was taken captive and wound up in the slave pens, serving a series of various sith masters, until eventually he was taken to Korriban for the Sith trials anyway. Under the tutelage of Zash he became a powerful dark sorcerer. Aldronyx had escaped but wandered the streets of the underworld until being adopted by a Jedi, who taught him to control his inborn tendencies to master the light side and eventually took him to Tython. He became a hero to the Republic, a Knight, but always masked in a triumvirate helmet. Only the Jedi council and his master he allowed to see his face. The Faceless Hero of Tython. Neither have any knowledge of each other's fate or that of their parents. I don't know if the Caeasat and No'elriss survived, but if they did, it might been that they were united sooner some time after the attack.

Purebloods are a very interesting and exotic species. My pureblood Sith warrior doesn't wear the jewelry after he was betrayed and nearly killed by a jealous older bother. Now he trains to become as powerful as possible, but does have moments of mercy. At least that's how I imagine his backstory as I play him.

At first I wasn't really interested in them because I don't really care for red (or warm colors for that matter) outside of a person's hair color or minor accent colors... so race of people with bright red skin had no appeal for me. But one day I took a look at them in the character creator and cranked the skin to it's darkest tone and the deep purplish red really appealed to me, so that wound up being my first Inquisitor.

My main Sith Worrier is a Sith Pureblood, Rull Alaan, son of Genzar Alaan (father, also a pureblood worrier, member of the sith shadow guard) and Sear Alaan (mother, a human bounty hunter, but by story she's a imperial trooper) because of his half-blood heritage and that the shadow guard should have no ties to anyone but the emperor, they were forced to go into hiding, Rull lived with his uncle on his father's side as a adopted son until the time had come for him to enter the academy and become a true lord of the sith, in the short time he was with his true family, he learned to see the galaxy differently from most, as a guard, his father taut him blind rage was only a temporary strength and likely to end in early demise, true determination and devotion to duty is were true power lies, and his mother to follow passions other then hatred, like comradery or friendship as uniting your strength with other will give you strength too, to this end he realise that no matter the leadership or his position, even as the emperor's wrath, the sith empire was doomed to self-destruction and seeing the flawed but still stable republic as the only true future for himself, he aided in forming the alliance against Zakuul and worked to sabotage the empire and finally know true peace.

ALL because original swtor developers didnt want to design flat primate noses for sith. So much has changed since golden age of the Sith books originally released. Alot of game developers and writers compounded creative mistakes about sith, i remember those mistakes in old wookiepedia especially about the actual sith and bioware calling human/sith hybrids 'pure bloods'. Now they are universally accepted like marca ragnos being drawn with a human features as a sith/human hybrid instead of how he use- to - be drawn with sith only ones. The big obivious one is sith noses verse human noses. Ludo kresh mentioned it in golden age of sith by insulting naga sadow for his dark jedi human hybrid origins noticed by his human nose. Bioware after a decade still will confuse their 'pure blood' which are all the human hybrid sith not the old sith. Even 1000yr old tenenbreah is shown with the human hybrid sith features. Its now gone from head-cannoned into cannon as the 'sith cast system' instead of being dark jedi hybrid decendaces. I wish they would correct this, add it as an charater design option or at least explain away that those sith are already extinct and/or only now represented in de-evolved yavin masssasi.

So either you copied the text from Star Wars Theory’s channel, or that part about “…yellow eyes, bony protrusions on the face, fleshy tendrils on the chin…red skin is the hallmark…” is public domain. Lol. Also Sith ancestry “was a sign of weakness”… it just sounds word for word like SW theory channel…

Hi I think you are confused, I assume that channel is going from the official texts. If you check the written version you can even see where grabbed most of my sources swtorista.com/articles/sith-pureblood/ I think that one might actually just be straight from Star Wars: The Old Republic.
