I’m moored to a buoy for six months of the year at Hitchinbrook Island AK. Sitka Blacktail will visit the beaches at low tide and eat seaweed washed ashore. Like clockwork. Never seen a skinny Sitka Blacktail there.

Do you shoot through the tape that is on the muzzle? I’m assuming that is to keep stuff out of the barrel while hiking

You can for sure shoot through a barrel cover.
@KP-zv1sn
@KP-zv1sn Ай бұрын
He’s mentioned it before on a previous episode. Tape over the barrel doesn’t affect the shot at all and prevents anything from going down the barrel while you’re hiking around. You can shoot through it so you don’t have to worry about removing a barrel cover when it comes time to shoot.

Gear question: It appears that you have electrical tape over the end of the barrel during the hike. Does this get removed before you might take a shot?
@gavinlybarger8056

I don’t know if they remove it but I’ve done some shooting with electric tape of the ends of my barrel and it didn’t change the impact or group size

@josephmarciano2584 you just have to look at "the food chain" and the fact that bears are omnivores and they have to capitalize on gaining the most calories by expending lesser calories. They simply couldn't exist in the parameters they exist in any other way. Their mass and fat content (stored calories) are a vital role in their existence experience. In similar ways to the deers existence experience, the doe's come to protect what they think is the a struggling next generation (continued existence) the bucks during rut are literally hardwired, to facilitate procreation existence. It's a weirdly simplistic drive for/based on lives that don't live long.

I am a meat-eater from the PNW. Retired now, residing in Philippines. I wish I had l known about sea-cucumbers. A year ago I was offered a chance to purchase a couple from a local fisherman who had accidentally snagged them in his net. Unwittingly, I declined. I guess I can say those sea cucmbers got away from me.

I know this is an old video but for future shows. Please tone down the sound of the calls. I know all hunters are proud of their vocalizations dang the even have “calling contests” from pigs to husbands 😂 I love your shows/videos but if you count how many times you play the calls it’s heard to watch at least for me. It hurts my ears. Oh and why do you have your shows on so many different platforms? A few seasons here and a few seasons there, when your most interesting season is nowhere to be found. When you get attacked by the moose 😂 I’m sorry I’m really glad you didn’t get hurt but to hear Callahan say “ your smarter than that!” And you reply with “ evidently not“ is something I’ve said to myself more than I should with the time and experience with wild animals. Opening the door to get a better picture of the momma and two bear cubs at 20 feet!! The look of her eyes when she looked at me was. Shit! You know better than that lol. I truly related to you in that moment. 😂 Take care hope to see more Meateater episodes with you and Cal and Ryan and Yiannis (?) I worried you might have been sick and prayed you weren’t.

Why do you have so little game in Alaska. I live in South Africa and if you have one valley there would be 5 different species with a lot of shootable specimens. Yet in Alaska you have an abundance of water, pristine habitat and yet very little game.

It happens with the NFL constantly being it's listed as a non profit hahahahha and has tax payers footing the bill to build stadiums for the ultra rich owners and site local economy boost as a legitimate reason for this. On top of that research into the three letter organizations and Hollywood film making and you may be surprised
