Sits Next to a Tree

She sits next to a tree on the grass surrounded by
Tourists who cannot see anything but themselves
In front of their cameras
I find her dreaming of walking across a bridge
Spanning above a crevice of yesterdays
Happily followed by shadows she has known
Her entire life greeted effusively
By a man deeply known to her waiting on the other end
I dream of finding her on the grass next to a tree
Surrounded by tourists who cannot see anything but her
Opening their arms to take back shadows
Across the bridge to the beginning
Where they let them fall into the crevices of yesterday
To be swept by the winds of change
An entire life cleansed in one simple act
Without ever knowing how
