This is one of my favorite interviews. Zenju is authentic, aware, visceral, and articulate. She shares her life experience brilliantly. As a white hetero male, I have a lot to learn from teachers like Zenju. Meanwhile, Dan demonstrates his interview skills by rarely interjecting. This is podcast gold. Thank you both!

Insightful dialogue. Perhaps light may be found within darkness. I have been avoiding sitting with the emotional reverberations of trauma for YEARS. And now... it has caught up with me and demands a fencing match.

"While we're in this dive ... we're also in flight." That's beautiful, hopefully true, and I'm going to remember it. I was here searching for a discussion on overwhelm (work/life balance has not possible for a while and will continue for a little while, and it hits really hard hard sometimes) and found this. It's related and full of helpful framings

Compassion in Buddhism is paired with wisdom (paññā). It is not sentimental or indulgent but stems from understanding the nature of suffering (dukkha), its causes, and how it can be alleviated. Without wisdom, compassion can become misguided or even harmful. I love "the baby comes to teach us love", and...see first statement. Thanks to you both🙏

As a recovering alcoholic & drug addict, I know very well that disruption must occur to bring about real change. Yes, it can be chaotic & extremely painful...but if nothing changes, nothing changes. I'm pleased to report that at 65 I enjoy a serenity I never could have imagined earlier in my life. I have no family nor material wealth, but I am quite content. Thank you for this conversation and others like it. Happy New Year! ✌ ❤
