This dance symbolises and touches on how Fa’afafine’s went into hiding after seeing their brothers & sisters being killed by the settlers & colonisers. This is a piece that illustrates us coming out of hiding and taking space as Queens and keepers of tradition. In a lot of ways this is us owning our existence, no longer afraid of the stigma put onto us by white supremacy.

Today, a Samoan buddy stopped by and I showed him this video. As soon as the choir started singing, he was singing right along word for word. And when it finished I said, "Dude, I have GOT to get to Samoa. You people are SO cool!" I have seriously been thinking about emigrating there.
