Nixxiom at 3:31 it wasn’t a mistake. I ride horses and to be able to turn them like that, you have to squeeze or as you said “flick” them on the side. This makes them move away from the pressure and with the kings pull of the reins, makes the horse move towards the pressure and the body away. In short making the horse face the other direction. So overall this wasn’t a mistake, it was an attention to detail.

Plaguing her own city WAS Sylvanas' plan B. Plan A was to take out the Alliance with the Azerite siege engine and the Plague outside of the gates, which she very much was accomplishing before Jaina swoops in out of nowhere for the rescue. Thus Sylvanas falls back to plan B which does indeed mean destroying her city, but also taking out the bulk of Alliance leadership and most likely winning the war. Honestly the Warchief's entire strategy for this battle was genius and should have succeeded on all accounts, she just couldn't predict Jaina coming in on a flying boat, which the Alliance itself didn't even see coming. Oh and speaking of the ship, for all of those saying it's not goofy to have a flying ship when Dalaran exists, you missing what Nixxiom is saying. The concept of making the ship fly isn't goofy, as any powerful mage should be able to accomplish such a feat. It's how it LOOKS. A bulbous galleon floating in the air with sparkles underneath keeping it up isn't exactly cool looking, despite it's firepower.

And that action is called spurring, which he does, moving his foot in a lateral movement to stir the horse. What Nixxiom saw was the odd movement from up to down of the foot, like a glich. Slow down the video and you can see it's unnatural.

Well, I've only played horde since vanilla, and only played undead as well. Roaming UC back in the dayz and see Sylvanas as a TRUE horde leader I don't really mind how evil she is (as I joined the horde for a reason). As a matter of fact, Sylvanas is the only true Horde leader who wants to annihilate the alliance instead of bonds, creating alliance or be friends. Dark lady watch over you. We are Forsaken! My reaction was "Sylvanas is so short."

Sylvanas made a gambit: destroy Teldrassil (a victory for her) to lure the Alliance to Lordaeron to kill their leadership. She was willing to sacrifice Lordaeron, and while she didn't succeed in her end game, she did decimate the Alliance forces and would have utterly destroyed them had Jaina Ex Machina not shown up. The Alliance desperately wanted to retake Lordaeron, and they came away with nothing. So, B+ grade on a victory to Sylvanas (destroying Teldrassil, bringing tension to the Alliance's leadership, as we can see with how Anduin and Genn are fighting), while the Alliance gets a D- Pyrrhic victory where Sylvanas was planning a scorched earth tactic anyway. The Alliance lost much and gained absolutely nothing from the War of the Thorns. We're going to see Jaina or Genn (or maybe Alleria, but much less of a chance) commit some atrocity as a means to get revenge against Sylvanas, to which Anduin is going to go absolutely fucking bonkers when he finds out about it. Tactically brilliant move by Sylvanas, and her character acting is AMAZING. Very similar to Palpatine in Return of the Jedi (her plan is to goad the Alliance into attacking into her trap, the beautiful venom in her voice acting). If you really dig into the stories out there right now (Before the Storm, the Warbringer short, these cinematics, the scenario), you'd see that Sylvanas knows how disadvantaged the Horde is. Stormwind and Ironforge are both unassailable while Orgrimmar is incredibly vulnerable to siege/attack from 3 different points. She also knows that if Greymane puts his warmongering bug into Anduin's ear, the Horde is as good as doomed. There's no hope for peace since outside of the Tauren, there's major animosity between the Alliance and the Forsaken (the Alliance rejected the fallen of Lordaeron and Silvermoon in WC3), Blood Elves (they were rejected from the Alliance leading into TBC, plus Jaina slaughtering Sunreavers following the Divine Bell incident in MoP), Nightfallen (shunned by Tyrande), and Bilgewater Goblins (their ship was attacked by the Alliance while fleeing Kezan). This is why I can understand Sylvanas and Lor'themar (and though he's not in the cinematics, Gallywix as well) wanting to utterly crush the Alliance. The ways of the Old Horde (Trolls, Tauren, and Orcs) are not paths to survival, but the New Horde (Forsaken, Blood Elves, Goblins) is. Vol'jin's words to Sylvanas might just ring true.

Greymane has every right to hate sylvanas and want her dead. The Alliance would of taken in the Blood elves if they would of made it to them in WC3, but they met the racist Garithos, who was leading the remnants of lordaeron, if they would of made it to stormwind they would of been fine. Jaina only killed the Sunreavers who resisted arrest, the rest were imprisoned. Tyrande had a right to mistrust the nightborne they were part of the highborne traitors who hid behind their bubble for 10000 years, but guess what? That didn't stop the high elves and kaldorei both from helping them retake their city, when the horde only sent the blood elves to help. Oh and Garithos even tho he was a dick, joined forces with the forsaken to push the scourge out of lordaeron on terms that her and the other undead would leave and instead she betrayed him and slaughtered the remaining survivors of lordaeron. So yes the alliance would have no reason at all to trust the forsaken.

Even with Saurfang, Malfurion could've killed her if he didnt get cocky, same applies to the siege of Lordaeron scene where she walks to Anduin, she's literally staying alive cuz Alliance leaders always give her the chance to get away ;_;

Sylvanas is playing out to be very reasoned and pragmatic, in a sociopathic, genocidal, evil sort of way. She clearly isn’t the triggered hissy fit genocidal maniac portrayed last week. She is dispassionately doing whatever she thinks she has to do to win. The ends justify the means to her. She is truly evil. I don’t like her. I never really have since her use of blight on Gilneas. I don’t generally like genocidal evil people. I can respect the character that she is portraying for the horde. It does seem that the feast of 5he horde leadership, except maybe Gallywix, is pissed at her and cannot stand behind her leadership. I do think something like a coup may be in the works and in the end, I approve of that. I think she is written very well. I’d just rather see a more honorable horde emerge from this.

Two things I like in this cinematic: 1. Again with the choices.. she herself rarely gets to chose what she want, anywhere from When she wanted a warriors death by Arthas or when joining the Horde.. or even when becomming Warchief, she never gets to chose. And the first thing Sylvanas give you when you start a new Forsaken is a choice, To join her or live your undeath life as you please. Here she is clearly pointing out to Baine he have a choice.. and he is free to chose. 2. Sacrificing Lordaeron the way she did have so many layers so lets take it from the top, 1: Lordaeron is one of two great bastions of the northern Azeroth and a great base of which the alliance can supply a huge army from if they capture it 2: Silvermoon would have under a great threat had the alliance captured Lordaeron, from where they could make a March towards Silvermoon and basicly take over the entire continent. 3: As a Forsaken.. I would rather see Lordaeron burn to the ground than in the hands of the alliance, and I am sure Sylvanas would feel the same. Dracoiz, of the Forsaken.

First off, i'm pretty sure that foot thing wasn't model popping. To me it looked like Anduin digging his heel into his steed to make it turn around. (Also look at how magnificent Blizzard is at animating that horse throughout the cutscene.) Anyways, I gotta say, when the cutscene played for the first time in the scenario, it felt badass. Yea the boat was a bit ridiculous, and will probably spawn a bunch of memes from now on, but it's that high-fantasy, rule-of-cool nonsense that I and a lot of other people (i'm sure you as well Nixxiom) love so much about WoW. No more legion warp drives and Naaru space ships. Legion leaned a bit too far into sci-fi there. This is the WoW that i've missed - magic, monsters, and ridiculous impossible things happening left and right. So yea, let's get Jaina to fly in on a magically-sustained flagship she rose out of the water. Let's watch her conjure cannons made of arcane energy, and then fire massive arcane missiles at the walls of Lordaeron. She's literally one of the most powerful living mages (if not _the_ most powerful living mage). It's not like she can't do it, plus it's badass! For The Alliance!

We never saw if there were anyone else on the ship, those cannons might very well have been fired by others. but even if it was all Jaina, we've seen Khadgar do pretty much simular things in Warlords of Draenor. And again, yeah, constantly flying city vs a probably temprarily floating boat, probably isn't even faster than a gunship, it's fine honestly.

The flying boat was such a surprise to me. It actually validated the Warbringer video in my eyes. When I first saw Warbringer I though to myself "okay, nice that you have a ship, but it doesn't make you special", but then I saw this cinematic and I was so impressed. The whole idea that she can suspend it in air to take it inland and that she can conjure arcane cannons. I thought that was very creative and clever and reinforces the idea that Jaina in fact is one of the strongest mages on Azeroth.

Floating is definatedly easier to sustain than flight... and no dalaran doesn’t fly...its teleported from place to place and then floating...helped by massive artifacts and hordes of mages.... So anyway it’s not unbelievable that she can do it...especially as a frost/water mage from a nautical nation

Doesn't really matter what blizzard decides to do with it. We know for a fact that Sylvanas is the one responsible, there are no two ways about it and it is as set in stone as it can be. It's either surprise, sadness or just guilt that she wasn't there to help because ya know, her teleportation skills sure would have come in handy in that situation but instead she was off soul-searching on her own. Nothing suspicious.

ReelyReed Getting rid of the Undercity is for the best since keeping it would mean to split her troops and even then it's just too close to Alliance hubs for her to effectively defend it now. Also for her plan to work she need to successfully get all of Kalimdor and only Kalimdor. She doesn't need Eastern Kingdoms and I don't think she give a damn about it unless there is azerite there since she want to use azerite to fuel her war machine and make the horde an untouchable empire for the alliance. This would mean a long lasting peace between the two factions. You do your thing I do mine and we never interact with each other ever again

About the last Rambling part. "nuking" the city was plan B. At this point we already fought the alliance 2 times, Outside and on the courtyard, but the alliance ex-machina'ed both times (with the flying ship and with the void elves). At that point the alliance already had control over the city and it was a "if we can't have Undercity neither will the alliance". The Sylvannas and Saurfang dialog at the last moment of the battle, before they went into the throne room, was also very cool.

Sylvanas evacuated her people from Undercity. But the Alliance were dead set on taking it away from her, so she was like "well if I can't have it, nobody can." I love how she got right in Anduin's face. Besides, I'm sure she can take it back eventually. In my opinion, she won that battle.

Deus Ex Ma-Jaina is my favorite warcraft meme atm. On the other hand I half disagree with you on the Sylvanas bit about nuking her own city. I feel like her retreat and her confidence in destroying her own home was a facade for the alliance and horde leaders. Note that when she hands Nathanos her bow she's telling him to be prepared to nuke the throne room to completely blanket the city in plague, not just the alliance leaders. She lifts his chin and has him meet her eyes to give him the confidence that it is the right choice. Also, in the novels and short stories we see that softer moments like that between those two- her being gentle to bolster his morale - are kinda rare. He usually pretends not to hear her just to irritate her in a playful manner because he likes seeing her hot headed. Or, he hesitates when he thinks she's acting irrational and bonkers, like when the reunion happened and she killed her own people and Calia Menethil. He rarely ever genuinely hesitates, and she rarely ever takes a brief moment to comfort him. He trusts her, but she still takes a moment to essentially say "You're still my champion. This must be done to ensure whatever victory we can obtain here is gained. We've lost, but we can't give them an inch, or they take a mile." I think there was a lot of remorse for the city, but none that she would show in front of the alliance or horde leaders. If she shows it to the alliance she gives them the leverage she initially wanted before deciding to burn teldrassil. If she shows it to the horde leaders, she comes off as even more fanatical and self absorbed than before. She'll plague horde soldiers with friendly fire but won't destroy her own city, which would mean they died for nothing? Yeah, an even bigger target would be on her back. Also, she has a very good point abput Anduin in this cinematic. "You call for peace when it suits you." Genn attacked her in Stormheim against orders and against a temporary truce, and Anduin didn't even give him a slap on the wrist because he was in mourning. In fact, Anduin getting pissed in this scene in the first time any horde leader has seen any indication that Anduin will tell Genn to shut up and step back. Anduin asked for peace when he had shown no previous concern for it before, and it backfired because he was naive and let Calia attend the reunion. Then, he did nothing about Genn in Stormheim. Sylvanas herself said in the novels that she doesn't blame Anduin and thinks he's just a boy who hasn't grown into his crown yet. It's also why I think she doesn't speak to the others with all of their prejudices, just him. She shuts her sister down just like Anduin shuts down Genn. Anduin may genuinely want peace, or did, but the 3 standing behind him are so full of prejudice and anger that it isn't realistic. She knows that and so does he, and it's already been proven in Stormheim that Genn will lash out against orders, even if the threat of consequences may actually be there this time. I certainly think that Sylvanas's acts are villainous and vicious in the way she's handling this war that she started, but I don't think she's dumb by any means. The parallels to Anduin and Arthas (and the lovely contrast, in wc3 arthas was the dark marching in on the light, in this one. Anduin in the light marching in on the darkness) we're also to be reminded of Sylvanas and her origins. A ruthless tactician that gave even the Lich King a run for his money, and was the one to almost kill him again if not for him bring saved by Kel'Thuzad. Sylvanas was a fool last time to think of honor and hope when she fell in a war to defend her people, and again and again when she threw herself off of ice crown and then was murdered by crowley. She has always been "for her people" and that one single thing has gotten her killed 3 times. Once by her own hand, twice by anothers. I think she's tired of fighting for whatever the current population is and is instead fighting for the future of the horde. "Her" future. Whatever that future entails remains to be seen at this point, and I'm excited to see where it goes in the story. She's ruthless and vicious in warfare and I'm eager to see where they take her, whether she's outright evil by the end or gets a redemption story, who knows! But I'm hooked now for certain! "Ask a trillion fallen soldiers what honor means to the dead. The silence is your answer."

Something in the way Anduin reacts to Graymane makes me think he's becoming aware of how letting Genn get away with so much helped lead to the moment. When Sylvanas says Anduin speaks peace when it suits him it's a direct reference to their agreement to a cease-fire to fight the Legion but Genn attacked the Forsaken fleet and tried to kill her, all without consequence. When Anduin says she lit the fire but he failed the citizens I'd like to think that's him realizing had he been more forceful or respected as High King perhaps none of this would have happened.

I've been horseback riding for twelve years, and when "flicking" a horse you tell it where to move to. You pull the reins, which are connected to the bit, and that turns the horse. Then flicking the horse with your right or left foot makes the horse "bend" in the process, which makes the horse turn faster. I think they intended for the flick to be included. The 'flying/floating' boat is a ghost ship. It is her father's ship which she raised from the sea. It makes sense that as she was able to raise the long sunken ship, that she would also be able to use her magic to make if more than just a wrecked ship. And 'HEY'... World of Warcraft.... Magic.... Anything is possible.

Nixxiom, in that last scene as Slyvanas looks over the plagued city I think she was sad for a brief moment. And a big part of her character is that hardcore Machiavellian esque pragmaticism. So blowing up Lorderon isn’t even a second thought she would sacrifice her city so the alliance couldn’t take it.
