Among these 6 top retirement places in the Philippines ( Taguig-BGC; Newport; Makati, Cebu, Dumaguete; and Iloilo City ) the best city to retire in is ILOILO CITY.

My wife and I looked at some properties in Tagaytay. One thing I noticed was many of the new houses we looked at already had peeling paint and bulges on the walls and I guessed right. The average humidity in Tagaytay is 78% which is too high for my liking. Periodic eruptions of Taal Volcano is another negative for me as heavy ash fallout requires a lot of cleaning. The other thing I noticed is Tagaytay is like Hua Hin in Thailand where hoards of locals head over to Tagaytay on the weekends. That means heavy traffic and packed restaurants from Friday night to Sunday afternoon

The paint anf walls bubbling is mainly caused for improper or no prep on the concrete
@robocop581

@@nwced When you paint and the temperature is humid, bubbling occurs when you apply a second coat and the base paint is not fully dried yet. Need to wait at least seven hours for the paint to fully dry.

Yes yes I lived in Hua Hin for 3 years. The drive before the highway expansion was terrible. I left BKK Thursday night to beat it and came back earlier on Sunday. Worth it to me. Thanks

Hey Paul, nice polo shirt.. Big Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan here ....I been to all of the locations on your list & my favorite is CEBU for its central location... I can wake up at 4am & jump on the Super Cat or Ocean Jet ferry & be in Leyte or Bohol or Camotes island in 2 hours.... Bantayan island, Oslob, Moalboal, Malapascua all available by Ceres Bus...Great Shopping malls, restaurants, gyms, Beach resorts, hospitals, internet...and of course CEBU is World known for its Beauty Queens...

Hello Paul , I like your choices ,of the larger cities i do like Cebu it has a lot of history being the oldest and the first capital in the Philippines , another great city is Baguio its high around 5000 ft so nice weather much cooler , it is hard going when walking some much up and down. One of my favorite places is Vigan its a smaller place very Spanish , that whole Northern Luzon is really worth a trip . I think now also Davao city has been cleaned up big time I was there 6 years ago and loved very clean . As you know the more you travel in the Philippines the more you love it just keeps getting better . Thanks Paul as always really enjoy your videos.

@@PaulWorldZoom Yes Paul Baguio is lovely if you are thinking of going go for this year's Panagbenga Festival will take place from February 1 to March 5, 2023. The festival's main highlights will be on February 25-26, 2023 I was there 3 years ago and it was amazing but you will need to book a place to stay ahead of time try to stay near the action as they do close some of the roads and traffic is bad. If you do go let me know I can give you a few other great places near by to go and see .

Healthcare and proximity to an International Airport are the most important to me. Manila is therefore it. If I want a beach I can easily fly to Boracay or Bohol and be there on the same day. I also play a lot of golf and there are tons of nice courses in and around Metro Manila. I usually leave at 5am, tee off at a golf course in Lipa at 7am and back to my condo in Manila by 2pm

@@mmirafuentess1990 The guy that said Golf is boring completely missed my point. Golf is more social in the Philippines. An interesting video and I definitely agree with some of your choices. I'm in the class that would never live in metro Manila. Having been up in Antipolo in the early morning and looking out over the black cloud of smog hanging over Manila, the air quality alone would be a huge concern. As for where I chose it's the city of San Fernando, Pampanga in Central Luzon, and for me at least, I couldn't have chosen a better location. 😊

Have you visited subic bay freeport zone ? If not try checking it out . The old subic bay navy base has a mall 4 large grocery stores , many restaurants . Clean beaches close by , one hour drive to medical city clark and walking street . Very close to Barreto for night time entertainment . Across the bridge is olongapo for public market and local shopping . Rare and never brownouts , no roosters allowed or chickens , no trikes jeepneys , late night karoke . We have rules and they are enforced . Housing area has 24 hr security , lots of greenery , sewer system . US military created infrastructure . I enjoy residing here .

@@todd7756 The rent is higher than most areas . A three bedroom three bath house starts at 40000 pesos . You can get a large studio for 25000. If you purchase a long term lease it is less cheaper . they have some new condos from 3.5 million pesos for 32 years . You can resell your lease if you want . Electricity depends on if you using inverter air cons . I pay 7000- 8000 a month . Water is 1000- 1500 because we have sewer system . I use the air con 24/7 . So not cheap but not as expensive as bgc or makiti . Centally located so you can get to medical city Clark or Clark airport in under one hour . Olongapo is across the bridge much cheaper rent but you deal with much more noise and brownouts , trikes , chickens , jeepneys , late night karoke . You pay for the peace and quiet and rules enforcement . I bought a long term lease of 40 years for 8.3 million so my average over time is 17,300 a month . If i wanted to sell before 40 is up i can get 6 million or more for 25 years . Prices have increased since i bought a year ago .

My wife and I have a house that's about a 15 minute drive from Tagaytay in Silang, Cavite. I have been to a decent hospital in Laguna. It's nice of aal of the building that they are doing in Northern Cavite with the Bataan Cavite Bridge that will soon start with the construction. Then there is the Sangley Point Airport that will be upgraded into an International Airport. Further north of Manila they are working on the new International Airport in the Bulacan province. The one thing that people need to be aware of if they are going to move to the Tagaytay area is the Taal Volcano. I was there for the eruption on January 12, 2020 as our house is about 19km (12 miles) north of the main crater of Taal. Our house got covered with volcanic ash and I felt a lot of volcanic earthquakes that night and into that Monday. I have no plans to move to any other area even after going through that eruption. I love where I live and really enjoy the people there in our subdivision.

I love your choice of style and honest representation. I am a Canadian (Montreal) with 10 years before retirement. A co-worker has placed me in contact with a Filipina who is only 2 years older and we have written for about 4 years now. She lives in Mandaluyong and suggests I look at Tagaytay (also Cavite and Laguna). While she is a city type person, I am more suburb . . . the old show "Green Acres" came to mind. I would love to design and build a house with solar panels without being far away in a province; my ideal would use a downstairs to include a hobby-type business, my first thought being an internet-café / network gaming center (we could even have remote sites networked as if gaming next to each other), Rowena liked the idea, but her friend says that with home Internet . . . I digress. Thank you for your multiple presentations. I would love to take advantage of you and have communication via email, because you have built trust - I trust the integrity behind your comments (fact checking not done, but I'm certain you are not right all the time, either). Let me know if you would agree to communicate and thank you again.

I'm so glad we decided to live here full time for 10 years after we retired. We built our 2 houses here on biliran island 37 years ago and have enjoyed the Philippines for years. But we knew the health care facilities here are not the best, especially for seniors. Along with the driving and roads here are very dangerous. We sold everything we had when we retired and put the money in the bank, which is now $300.000, and in 4 years, our 10 years are up.. I'll be 67, and my wife will be 65 And we're buying a house or Villa in the Venice fla area. It has a big Filipino population, and it has all the advantages of the Philippines' warm weather, great beaches. great sunsets. But it has better hospitals' world-class hospitals in fact, more restaurants to choose from for sure.. Just a better overall quality of life for Seniors, If you can afford it. We planned well 30 years ago for our retirement and are enjoying it now. We love to travel and living here it's so easy to go to Sydney we love it there & Singapore. Singapore is where we're spending my 65 birthday next year. Check out the Marina Bay Sands Resort Hotel. It's beautiful. Most guys who come here never take advantage of the area. And that is sad for sure.

Thanks for video, I have been back and forth military and tourist for 46 years so know a little, the first 3 cities should be called traffic gridlock city, also a person considering them should check if they get physically ill as I do in them from extreme pollution. I live part time in Northern Samar with fresh air off the ocean with no need for air-conditioning, but OMG the rain drives me away for months at a time,, western Leyete is worse ,be prepared if you live south of 15 degrees to expect a lot of it. I like to visit Dumaguete and if I take the night ferry from Calbayog then bus from Cebu I can make it in one travel day. If I had to do it all over I would choose coastal Zambales or La Union with driving to Olongapo or Angeles for needed things not too far away, like your straightforward delivery.

This is not true in Subic it is like a small city in the US except much lower cost of living. For me it is not too far from my comfort zone, moving to another country. The place I've decided to retire, which I didn't see on your list, is Cagayan De Oro, esp the southern part called Uptown. There's a lot of development going on in that part, there's already SM City mall, but also in development is a Gaisano Uptown Mall, a new mega hospital near that mall, as well as a new campus being started fir Xavier University. There's also the other existing malls: Gaisano downtown, Ayala Centrio Mall, & SM Diwntown Premier Mall. There's also 7 seas (a big size water park) & Divine Mercy Church n statue...near El Salvdor/Kauswagan. The only disadvantage is that the newer airport is about a 45 min drive west of downtown, but they're building a New multilane bypass hwy going from Uptown to the Laguindingan Airport to cut down on that travel time.

I much prefer the more frugal means of retirement such as found where Steve lives in Trece Martires for example. There's enough there for nearly all your needs and it's reasonably close to Manila for day trips and the major airport as well as the beach ! -- Also - the costs are very low considering the proximity to as much as there is nearby. And according to Steve the people around there are great. Even the weather - "ain't bad' (as per Steve) usually with a breeze and often not needing AC. = What's not to like (?) if your old & want a peaceful retirement ? - Younger guys may get a little bored.

From all my research, I'm thinking somewhere around Baguio, outside of the city, a more isolated area in the countryside. I absolutely hate city life and the crowds. Where I grew up in the Ozarks, my closest neighbor was 6 miles away by a dirt and gravel road ( less than 1/2 mile walking through the woods and fields) every video I see about the best places to live in the Philippines is always connected to a city. (Almost never see anything about living in the province as a foreigner) I don't drink, I'm don't go to nightclubs, and my idea of fun isn't seeing how many women I can pick up. My idea of fun is climbing on my old 1978 Harley-Davidson flh Bobber, and going for long rides in the countryside and mountains, or along the coast. (Usually by myself) I'm planning on retiring in the Philippines in 1 1/2 years at 63 and bringing the Harley with me ( cheaper than buying one there). I've already looked into it. And I've been researching the most likely places for my retirement for about six years now. And Northern Luzon seems to meet my requirements. I'm healthy, and I don't take any type of medication. So i'm not worried about being close to medical facilities. So, the province areas are very appealing to me. I currently live in the US in the state of Virginia, so I can go to the mountains.I can go right along the coast, and I live in the country. But when I retire the cost of living here, I will have no real quality of life. In the philippines, I can have a good life, living better than I can here. I'm 61 years old, and I have been divorced since 2001. My children have grown up and have family's of their own. They are behind my decision to retire in the Philippines 100% Going back to area around Baguio the temperature is very appealing to me. And there's plenty of places to take motorcycle trips. Some of the coastal areas are quite beautiful too.

Not a large city person. I would rather live at higher elevations (read cooler) but still close to the beach. That's the best of both worlds. My father was stationed at Clark AFB for for two years and the heat and humidity was tough. Baguio was wonderful. Went back to P.I. twice while in the Navy (Subic). Loved the countryside and the people. If I went to Dumaguete, I'd be in Valencia. Take care Paul.

The Manila mentioned here is actually Metro Manila and it's made up of 16 cities and a municipality. Newport City and Bonifacio Global City are not actual cities. Newport City is a small township in the city of Pasay and Bonifacio Global City is a small district in the city of Taguig. We live in Metro Cebu, just outside of Cebu City, in Talisay City, which is in the privince, geogrphically. Metro Cebu in area is much larger than Metro Manila, just not as urbanized. But everything is here including a US Consular Office. I've been living here for 16 years and I've yet to have to go to Metro Manila for anything. If we were to ever leave here, which is not likely, my preference would be Metro Davao, not mentioned here. It makes the 2 previously mentioned metro areas seem tiny. The 3 are the only metro areas in the Philippines.

I know a lot of expats like to live in a major city or area's with big expat community. But the best place to live is away from all that. Get out into the provinces away from all the scammer's and beggers. I've been coming to the Philippines for 40+ years. Married for 37 years and lived permanently here for the last 6 years. Travelled all over this country and away from major cities and in the Province is a whole lot nicer. I live in Sorsogon province we have a great Pier area with many restaurants, nice SM Mall, and a brand new hospital with great doctors and top of the line equipment. i imagine i wont mind a bit up n down, if i can live higher up, cooler climate little dryer. but, i do like some conveniences, like decent internet,, but, you simply have to make allowances for what IS.. not what you want..unless u can afford to live either in, or adjacent to, the big cities..and can handle the traffic..💯 side note.. how far out is considered :" out " of a big city there ?? US,, you have to be several miles away, to be OUT of the city.. sounds like its much less, and just being on the outskirts, is already almost " out" of the city, both in cost and crowds.. or is that too simplistic..??
