As a non American Christian, I have to whole heartedly agree with your take on a majority of your right winged evangelical Christians. I was shocked when I attended a convention in the US and saw how the brand of Christianity there is so tied into nationalism and extreme right winged theology. For me this is the subtext of Daniel chapter 6, the crucifixion of Christ, and even the Beast 666 in Revelation. Given that there are verses such as "be ye either hot or cold, lest I spew thee from my mouth", it may well serve to say that "such is the nature of the beast". I've begun to incorporate "Yin and Yang" into my descriptions. The Bible in some aspects is like an M.C. Escher staircase painting, it can become very complex if you do not ignore or "cherry pick". The default route of Dispensationalist Purity culture, is to bank on New Testament scripture for vain peacocking, which should the scriptural foundation of purity culture become important, you wind up with Judges 11:29-40, 1 Corinthains 7, 1 Timothy 5:11-15, and Matthew 22:30 solidly establishing that purity is celibacy, a grievance, and related to the apocalypse. Curiously, the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins unlocked this for me. See, there is an in-joke that Dispensationalist Purity Culture spirals from 1 Corinthians 14 saying to seek to prophesy, into 2 Timothy 3:16 "all scripture is God-breathed", and further into Isaiah 20:2, 1 Samuel 19:24, 2 Samuel 6:16-23, and 2 Samuel 19:24. We have literally achieved the Emperor's New Clothes levels of vanity in pursuit of the integrity of authentic Puritanism. At the 11th Hour, Christians will leave their clothes behind,... Though, perhaps only until the return of the King (John 21:7). An interesting theological pitch that the "Rapture" may not be the 2nd Coming, the devil is in the details I suppose. Genesis 27:15-16, and Revelation 16:15 does raise the question as to who is in "sheep's clothing",... Incorporate 1 Corinthians 11:15 "hair is a covering", and suddenly Bayonetta seems like a Christian work. "Reverse Orientalism" they call it. Very intriguing, it does seem to provide insight into how Orientalism, the reinterpretation of oriental culture by outsiders, feels to those whose culture is being reinterpreted. Kind of like funhouse mirrors. But whose view is distorted? Revelation 3:14-18. Elsewhere on KZbin the "Hot and Cold" was connected to a psychological disorder termed "splitting". Say "Cold" is Yin, and "Hot" is Yang", Yin is the structure and order necessary for children to grow, and Yang is the subsequent freedom sought by teenage rebellion. The beast 666 (Yin) does not provide freedom, and the harlot (Yang) of Revelation 17 does not provide order and structure. If "splitting" is occurring, then does the Bible provide a cohesive whole, or do you just find the insanity of the prophets as lone voices in the wilderness (Matthew 3:1-10).

Because as you know, in church you don't read the entire Bible. You read the things that are cherry picked. Or my mom would pray for God to show her what she was meant to read and then would open it to some random place. But I didn't read through the entire thing. I got to the part about Noah and the ark. I knew that story so well. Who didn't? But it wasn't until that moment that the reality of it sunk in. And that was the moment that eventually led to me being an atheist. "Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town." So when you say to shake the dust off our feet, you are also saying that you will welcome GOD's perfect justice and judgement on you untempered by Christ's grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness. If the Bible is Truth then if we walk away, we are blameless and anything that happens to you in this life or the next comes upon you at your own behest. You cannot fault GOD, Christ or Christians. In this, I hope for the end of life to be the cessation of existence on behalf of those that reject the message, because if the Bible is true, then such people have chosen to stand guilty before GOD's Judgement with no chance to plead or receive pardon.

Of JESUS sending out HIS disciples, not the Apostles, into villages and towns, and asking if they have a room for JESUS to stay in. If the answer is no, then clear the dust from the shoes, and leave. BUT, JW's keep coming back. They leave if I ask, "What did JESUS mean when HE said, 'Lazarus, come forth'"? Ask them, "what did HE mean when he said, 'Return home, your daughter is well'"? They will, invariably, confirm that JESUS meant what HE said. Then ask them "What HE meant when HE said, 'This is MY BODY. This is MY BLOOD'"? All of a sudden, JESUS did not mean what HE said. I keep a stone in my pocket just in case someone says that to me. Sin is an imaginary disease to sell you an imaginary cure.
@yurei85 ай бұрын
@@Alverant No, 'sin' is an error in ones actions, that gives one an option to 'turn away from that behavior'. Or at least, 'the sin' will teach us a lesson, to avoid doing it in the future. Also it can be a tool to teach others from making the same mistake. The concept of a forgiving God, means that we should not beat ourselves up too bad, if we make a mistake (sin). Especially if we learn to not make the same mistakes. This is why there is the concept of God, as a forgiving God. It's not an 'imaginary disease' when a person is murdered over a play ground, one on one basketball game, in front of his young two nephews. Or someone is murdered over an argument in a line at the liquor store. Or a man murders his ex and sets the house fire, where his two children died of smoke inhalation. Some people shoot up a house; killing a eight year girl, in bed with five other children. It turns about the person they were after had moved out six months earlier. These are all true stories that happened in my city. My point is that being controlled by anger is not an imaginary disease. And the cure is not imaginary. It is about letting other people live, and not spending twenty years in prison. And about not witnessing a murder while one is still in elementary school. The cure is understanding and practicing the spiritual concept of forgivingness. Another is having goals a vision of one's future. And the reward is, not being a slave to negative emotions. Can I get some sort of response to my post?

As a Christian, I could not agree more with this video. Thank you for posting. Does the believer really believe God's word in faith? What we see is people on their own strength interpreting the Bible how they want. "And the people did what was right in their own eyes" -The book of Judges.
@marvinmallette67955 ай бұрын
"And the people did what was right in their own eyes" invokes negative connotations in the context of a morally superior being from the house of El. That there is a knowable perfection. In studying the Bible I've awakened to more of a Yin and Yang interpretation than a strict "black and white" one. This opens a 3-Dimensional philosophy, East and West become order and freedom, and north and south become good and evil. The good of order is structure, the evil of structure is oppression. The good of freedom is not being oppressed, the evil of freedom is that the social rules are unwritten allowing for transgressions against each other. Do you cast the first stone (Yin), or turn the other cheek when offended (Yang)? Do you practice celibacy (Yin) or fornication (Yang)? Each Christian denomination is its own "virtual" nation, in and unto itself. These borders overlap geographically. If we were to map the rules, how would we lay them out? How static and unchanging are the rules? Our modern democracies are a thing of beauty which I have not found means to improve upon. I am especially fond of the United States of America, and hope that we do not ruin this place. For better or for worse, til death do we part, being a man is doing what is right in our own eyes. Give me the Invictus poem, the Serinity prayer, and Sonny Rhodes' "The Ballad of Serenity", just don't take the sky from me.
@bryanwells32165 ай бұрын
@marvinmallette6795 There is no knowable perfection, but there is God and His goodness. If you receive a good thing from your father but want what your neighbor has instead, this is "what is right in your own eyes." This is a moral absolute. You wouldn't agree that taking from your neighbor was a good thing unless it was right in your own eyes.
@marvinmallette67955 ай бұрын
@@bryanwells3216 You have reduced a complicated work down to a fairly simple morality position. What I am more interested is in your position on the prophets. It was often the work of the prophets to undermine and usurp. Less focus is on forecasting, and more on counter cultural actions. What we have in the modern day is parody. Tim Lahaye's and Jerry B. Jenkins' jaunt on Rapture Theology that is "Left Behind" morphs into the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Suitably, there is the "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (B.I.B.L.E.). There is the advice to ensure that your eye is free from any logs before removing a speck from thy neighbor's. Presumably, this is so that you can correctly operate the "Point of View Gun" effectively. Though, I understand it doesn't function correctly on women.

Or, "kill all the males but save the virgin women for yourselves" (both from the Moses). But she didn't. She used perfectly good scriptures that Christians should be paying attention to, but often aren't. And to your second point, if you're going to preach to people about sin, especially specific sins, then that requires you to judge them. That's exactly why Jesus made his point about removing the log from your own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else's eye. And if you're certain that you have acknowledged all of your sins and repented for them, I assure you that you haven't.

What a pleasure it was to find this video on my menu tonight. I completely agree with the positions & concerns it discusses. I have often made these same points in writings online & in discussions with others. Today's evangelical Christians do not really even make a pretense that they love or have any concern for anyone who does not look, act, think & believe exactly as they do. One of the online declarations to which I replied only a couple of days ago was posted by an individual who identified himself as an evangelical Christian. His declaration was that he was tired of liberals being allowed to express their beliefs, which he said were hateful, evil & a threat to the country & the Christian religion. He expressed the opinion that we have to be silenced, either by imprisonment or worse. He did not say that we should be killed, but there was no mistaking what he meant. I reminded him of these messages of Jesus Christ & also pointed out to him that the approach to life, religion & government by liberals is much more in concert with the teachings of Jesus Christ than the approach of those on the right. No one who knows about the teachings of Jesus could imagine him urging people to arm themselves with assault rifles & ammunition altered to make it as deadly & destruction as possible. No one who believes in his divinity could imagine him ever ignoring the ongoing murders of small children in our schools or refusing to act to stop it or claiming that nothing can be done to prevent it because their can be no rules or regulations affecting any types of guns or ammunition. I think of the political ads & holiday greetings from Members of Congress on the right in which the strap on assault rifles, declare that when they hear calls for rules or regulations of weapons, "this is my response." Then, you see them firing the weapons at an object or stack of objects that explores on contact with the bullets they fired. Their ads should also have to include a disclaimer saying that the same deadly, explosive force is being regularly deployed against elementary school children, worshippers at churches, synagogue & other religious sites, shopping malls, crowds viewing special events, etc., and to them selling the weapons without ant rules or limitations -- to anyone who wants them -- is more important than acting to save any of those lives & that is why their Christmas cards, which bear the name of the holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ also bears a photo of the Member & his or her entire family, even their small children, holding assault weapons. No one who tries to emulate the faith & goodness of Jesus could imagine him advocating the imprisonment or killing fellow citizens for expressing their views on public issues, expressing support for treating all people equally or advocating opportunities for all or believing that politicians should not interfere in the most private & intimate decisions people ever face. It is wonderful to find that there is such a genuine, thoughtful & articulate Christian voicing these concerns & reminding those who exploit the name of Jesus instead of honoring it that they have forgotten or decided to ignore the messages of his life. You have a new admirer & subscriber. Keep up this wonderful work!

These were good ones. Probably the one that sticks out to me is Matthew 21:22 "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Echoed in Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. - So, why all the unfulfilled prayers? Either no one actually believes, or it's a false claim.

The book of James actually answers this. it says that it is because people have double-minded hearts, doubts, but more importantly they pray with envy, muder, and adultery in there heart. Dont forget the bibke verse where GoD admits he does not listen to the prayers of the evil

@@joseph2000117 No, it doesn't answer it, it contradicts it. Even in the context of the passages they are from, it is absolutely explicit in what it states. Plucking verses from other books that contradict it as an answer to it, is irrational.

1 John 5 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, he hears us. Jesus prayed to the Father to take the cup from Him if it was His will as a perfect man yet died and rose for the salvation of those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and who repentented of their sins. God will answer prayers if it is by His will
@mattpowell62915 ай бұрын
@@somersetcace1 It actually doesn't contradict it. It's an expanded version of the reality of prayer. Faith is the most important part of prayers being answered but God is in control. You might have faith that you'll get a Ferrari but if its not God's will or has godly intentions, you can't expect it to be answered. Your logic displays a lack of understanding.

Keeping with the spirit of your discussion, my favorite is 1 Thessalonians 4:11, which just says mind your own business. So many so-called Christians believe it is their calling to be all up in other people’s business, but want no person nor pastor nor government involved in theirs.

Good to see you back. I just started de-indoctrinating a few months ago and your channel is one of my favorites and one of the most helpful. So many of the Christian dummies on TV prophesied that Trump would win in the last election and when he didn’t they said he really did win & it was stolen. You nailed it. There are so many verses that Christians don’t really follow. A big one is going to the hospital and saying God used the doctor to heal them or if they pass away that was God’s will. The crazy part is, exposing their hypocrisy usually doesn’t work because they are inoculated against criticism by various methods.

I note with not a little irony your use of the term “inoculated” given that many of these same Rightist Christians have taken a stridently anti-inoculation stance particularly in recent years. Their political reasons notwithstanding, they often will say something to the effect of ‘God will heal them’ or ‘God will receive them into his kingdom’.

@BibleBeliever-i3i John MacArthur said people can be forgiven after taking the mark of the beast, along with being a Calvinist which is a theology that is contradicted by many scriptures requiring mental gymnastics to square those contradictions with the doctrine of election/predestination. This is a requirement for all dogmatic stances. Don’t you think a loving God would have made his infallible word easy to understand and without contradictions since it has supposed eternal life and death implications?

Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I ask them if they do communion, if they say yes, I ask how it feels to be in a blood cult. They usually leave me alone after that.
@thomash.schwed36625 ай бұрын
This would be particularly unsurprising if you’re speaking to Catholics given that, according to the Church, the wine is said to literally become “the blood of Christ” when the celebrant says the words of consecration during the Communion Prayer. That, of course, is the doctrine of transubstantiation. Protestants teach the doctrine of consubstantiation, wherein the wine (or, in their case, grape juice) remains such but the blood is “added” during the words of consecration. Jehovah’s witnesses, on the other hand, deny both doctrines and claim that the blood is purely symbolical, that the literal blood had already served its purpose at Calvary and Christ presented the merit of his sacrifice to the Father upon his return to heaven. In retrospect, none of the three scenarios here make any sense whatsoever. The first two amount to forms of cannibalism and the third, while following a form of the Lord’s supper and being called the Memorial of Christ’s death, is essentially a public rejection of what are supposed to be the very things-his body and his blood-Christ allegedly sacrificed in behalf of believing humanity both in terms of being regarded as merely symbolical and the fact that the majority of witnesses do not partake thereof in the first place.

@BibleBeliever-i3i counterpoint, you drink blood. Edit to clarify, so you don't just think I'm rollin' with trollin', it doesn't matter if it's symbolic or literal, drinking blood is gross and unhinged, and saying "I will now preform a ritual to pretend I'm drinking blood" just makes you a twilight fanboy.
