Stockard Channing delivers a devastating, heartbreaking speech about Paul meant to them coming into their lives, proving why she's a masterclass in acting whatever role she plays.

Channing should have won an Oscar for this film.

I concur. Channing was Magnificent in this acting masterpiece. Also, Will Smith did a fantastic job. And also, more importantly, she never looked so beautiful in a movie. Movie medium, is amazing, it captures ones physical beauty before Age destroys it.

THE SCENE IS BRILLIANT, her character finally figured out who the fakes and phonies are...it's not the imposter Paul, but she, her husband, and all the people at the table, and the social circle she has been accustomed to. This play and film are both masterpieces.

Having seen the play with Stockard first and then Marlo Thomas I was so happy that the movie was made.. I could listen to Stockard on repeat with any of her monologues.. so well written. This last one, especially.

Her point about anecdotes and why we hold them and why we retell them and why we feel the need to share them is so accurate and poignant. Also Sutherland's deflection into art dealer mode is so brilliant in how he senses her going off the rails is so brilliant. Amazing acting by both of them. RIP Donald

In this play, artful words bring you up close into the minds of the characters amidst the static of daily living.
