As a former employee I felt it was only right that I weigh in on The Joker Funhouse coaster closure situation. It is a little different when it comes to the way it runs. Instead of a standard lift hill, it uses friction wheels (also known as feed-motors) during the initial ascent. There is also another set of friction wheels that bring the train back in the station. With the trains being as light as they are, its safest for the ride to operate with the track being completely dry in order to avoid any ‘slips’ which can lead to valleys, evacuations, etc. I’ve witnessed two valleys due to a ‘slip’ - both happened during the return to the station which caused them to have to evacuate the ride - which is a lengthy and overwhelming process, especially if you take into consideration that the children riding may not understand what’s going on which later leads to a swarm of parents lining up outside of Guest Relations demanding free passes because their child was now ‘scarred for life’ because of something the park couldn’t control. And I know that sounds crazy but it has happened many many times - which I believe is the reason why they decided to keep the ride closed for the remainder of the day. That being said, what happened while you all were waiting for Superman to reopen was completely unacceptable. I can understand the employee’s being exhausted and wanting to go home - especially considering the heat, standing on your feet for all those hours, dealing with unruly guests, cleaning up vomit, having to repeat the ‘please do not sit or stand on the handrails’ speech over and over and over again, breaking up fights, getting threatened, being told by ‘know it all’s’ how to do a job you had to take a test to be certified to do... and the list goes on. But even with all that, a ‘ride will be closed for the rest of the day’ message should never be delivered unless it has been passed down by management - like what happened in the Funhouse Coaster situation. Im glad that you guys asked for a Supervisor and were given the skip-the-line passes. Its good to know that management atleast attempted to make the situation right and i’m sure it didn’t end there. As a Diamond Elite Member, I visit the park quite often. I often find myself seeing different things and shaking my head as I see how the times have changed since I worked there. It obviously starts with the management, BUT like you said several times in the video, customer service is important. I truly hope that you guys eventually find it in your hearts to give my home park another chance at redemption. Its a great place to escape the reality of the real world and i’m glad its only a 12 minute drive from my house.

That was the closet theme park to my childhood home. I remember staying in Georgia for a week and we would go to the park 3 out of the 5 days. Watching this brings back great memories. The Great American Scream Machine (going backwards at night) was always my favorite.

The employees at six flags parks have a lack of passion for their job and the guest experience especially. I’m not saying this applies to everybody, but having been to Great Adventure, Great Escape and Darien Lake, this has been an ongoing issue I’ve regularly noticed.

This is not the happy, positive Theme Park Worldwide that I love. I can clearly see you all are exhausted and it is massively impacting your mood and energy. As well as your opinion of rides and parks. I know I have ridden coasters while exhausted and felt underwhelmed. Then I rode them well rested and was blown away. Also you all only rode a lot of coasters once. I am almost always underwhelmed by coasters on the first ride. But after I ride them more my opinions can completely change. I am sorry you all got bad service at Sfog and it truly was awful customer service. However, I personally refuse to let it ruin my day. Rude employees don't impact my enjoyment of the rides or the park itself. But that's just me. I feel like a lot of this trip was wasted by trying to do way too much and clearly being exhausted. All of us watching can see it was ruining your experience. But you're still one of my favorite theme park channels and I will continue to watch the great content! But next time you visit the state's just don't try to cram so much in!

Theme Park Worldwide I live in Georgia and just went on my yearly trip to SFOG and had a great time! The operations are kinda bad but my experience with the rides were still great. I still haven’t been brave enough to ride Goliath even after 5 years of riding roller coasters and after all these years my favorite ride is still the Batman the ride clone there.
@jamierayborn54885 жыл бұрын
I loved SFOG, I have been 4 times this summer so far. However, the miscommunication is rampant, the rides are constantly going down, and the entertainment is the poorest I have seen in the 20 years I have been going. Far too many poorly behaved unattended teenagers with seemingly little to no real world social skills. The line jumping is the worst I have seen it and the staff seem unconcerned. The food was generic at best. In my experience the food was usually cold and sometimes under cooked. The food lines are as long or longer than the ride lines. I started packing food and go with zero expectation of any real customer service. Not sure I will renew my membership next year...

Not sure if you live in the U.S or not but Six Flags can offer some really really bad experiences if your not prepared to finesse... I have been to 5 six flags parks and they can really be this bad at times... one of which was at great adventure. The staff made me "check my pockets" and use the lockers for just my phone and wallet throughout the day when they should not have... And that's just one thing I encountered that day... I think they should have skipped some of these six flags parks and gone to more independent and cedar fair parks... Lake compounce, Dorney parks, Wild Adventures, Magic Springs, Kentucky Kingdom have all provided me with far superior experiences.

My home park is a Six Flags Park and with Six Flags, the attractions are the Coasters and a few thrill rides; everything else is hit-or-miss Including operations and park maintenance. For a local it's a mostly fun experience because we know what we're in for but I can understand expecting more and being disappointed especially if you come from long distances. Front row of Goliath is the best seat in the park. Blue Hawk was greatly improved by the soft over-the-shoulder restraints. is it me or there is a simple reason customer service suffers. Its the difference between an Amusement park and a Theme Park. I find with theme parks particularly ones like Universal & Disney all the way to Alton towers its about the experience so Customer Service and operations are Key. Whereas an Amusement park, bigger rides,Open spaces and no real theme to the areas and rides they are more about the cattle just chucking people on and hitting numbers. Theme Parks create a world around a ride so customer service, atmosphere, operations and even general tidiness is so key as a fault in any of those areas takes away that sense of immersion. Great vlog and really appreciate that you guys tell it how it is!

Well to put this into perspective as an example. You can't buy coke or pepsi in Harry potter world for the simple reason it doesn't fit in with the theme as such. I think it is allowed for a few stalls that open on hot days because it is more practical than waiting in line for butterbear while melting and getting sun burn. But my point is I think when there's characters and a theme to live up to the ride operators themselves are more into the them. When you're just on a station in typical park clothing you're just doing the basics. Maybe what they suffered maybe only the way six flags operates and others don't but I just see the trend.

Staying in line is usually a good idea at that ride. Mindbender is one of the first coasters I rode in my life, and it still scares me if I ride it at night! Holy crap. Twisted cyclone is pure fun. Feels super safe and comfortable. Goliath is terrifying because of the restraints and exposed feeling. Monster Mansion used to be called Monster Plantation. It's an extremely old ride, and you can smell it. Blue hawk is gorgeous. It used to be called Ninja and it had a red and black paint job. Blue Hawk seems smoother than Ninja... Great vlog...sad service from Six Flags...it seems a standard among Six Flags Parks...especially with high prices they charge for a day!...(74 dollars ?!!!) Glad Goliath lived up to your expectations...that was the coaster review I was waiting for.

Goliath was awesome and so was the dark ride! Some great rides here, just a shame about the customer service!

That's just how Six Flags is. They've been like that for 20 years. You can't go into a Six Flags park expecting competency, that's a sure way to be let down. Fun rides (after you wait for them or get a Qbot) and that's it!

I drove from AL last Wednesday and Thursday to go and take my children! Having memberships is worth everything! Both days were not packed at all. It did rain both days though! I do have to say Batman is my favorite, ride it multiple times when I went. I haven’t gotten on the twisted cyclone, dare devil or the wooden roller coaster yet. Superman was fun but too short for me! Goliath is a great ride but very dangerous to me. I hate the lap restraints just my opinion guys don’t kill me I know everyone love ❤️ it! I will get on again though. I love it even though ppl call me crazy 😝. Roller coasters are my guilty pleasures😂 great video btw

Honestly, I don't mind all of the quirky things that Six Flags does because when you're only paying $55 for a season pass (that's during the flash sale in October) you're not expecting too much

The best Batman the Ride clone is the original at Six Flags Great America. It has the best theming of all of them and it’s really forceful, it also fits in with the park better than the others.

The one at Parque Warner Madrid is well themed too. Great ride. Sit on the left for an awesome near miss element with the building wall.

It's too bad you had such a negative experience at this park. I quite enjoyed it when I went and had no issues with staff. They were totally cool and let me go up the exit for single rider seating on Goliath and Twisted Cyclone!

I went to six flags Georgia years ago in April and half the rides were closed down because it was too cold. The high temp for that day was 65. Also I must’ve rode the Great American scream machine before it was retracked cause it put me in pain

Such a shame you had a bad experience here. I thought with the line-up of coasters, this park would of rated higher. As always, appreciate the honesty in the Vlogs and its helps planning my USA trip next year!

Problem is it's in Atlanta. The whole Atlanta area is filled with kind of garbage people and it shows with the employees and clientele.
@thefactsarethese36685 жыл бұрын
The thing with Six Flags parks is that you literally can't go in expecting anything other than cheap season passes and great coasters. You can have a great time at the parks and go on some great rides, but you have to know what you're getting into. You can't expect competency. Over Georgia is a great park, IF it's operated properly which...you can't assume, unfortunately.

Thank you, we'll always be honest in our videos!

Something kind of interesting is that Six Flags America in Maryland has almost the same exact unique park layout, but that's just coincidental because Over Georgia was built as a Six Flags park while America was purchased an renamed in 1999

Hey Shawn I am a big fan, just to ask are you going to Paultons Park this week? Because I am going with my family at some point this week (when I find out the exact date I will edit this). Alex Boone Tbh, the vest restraints make the best ride boring to me. I have never been a big fan of vest restraints even though they do prevent head banging. The best part of Blue Hawk which I have always liked are the near misses with the track and supports. Besides that the ride is underwhelming to me.

I hope that leaving early meant you got a few extra hours of sleep before the next park. Your punishing schedule was bound to take its toll at some point and I think this day was it. Such a shame your experience wasn’t the best. Perhaps, as others have suggested, your tiredness level and the heat made things seem even worse. Hopefully the next park takes a turn for the better.

Hey Shawn i am making a 6 to almost 7 hour movie of the whole series of your TPW's Big U.S.A. Giga Trip that you and Alex have been, so i put them in order from the TPW park vlogs & travel vlogs & of course adventure shawn vlogs in that video. So for part 1 of the trip is from Texas to Missouri and then for part 2 into Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. until to Dollywood & Pigeon Force in Tennessee, but i have to wait until the next travel vlog of part 3 comes out. Also to know, what day are you putting in a part 3 of the USA Road Trip travel vlog.

I watched this a few days ago and though you were a bit critical of the park. However , I am here for opening day and half the coasters are closed and the ones that are open, keep having issues. Ride Operations is not the friendliest.
@themeparkenthusiast1695 жыл бұрын
Any theme park enthusiast who knows anything about anything knows that a coaster doesn't completely close because the track is wet, unless in some circumstances like with a launch coaster or a woodies where it may complicate safety systems like braking. Sad to see Six Flags care so little and blatantly lie to customers, enthusiasts no less who know what they are talking about for the most part, rather than just doing their job and getting the rides operational. Very disappointing and almost laughable. I'm also pretty sure that when the manufacturers design these systems, that they take into account thousands of variables, and I highly doubt that liquids on the track would be allowed to shut down a coaster. Shambolic to say the least, SF should be quite ashamed tbf. On a happier note, really enjoying binging these vlogs to catch up!
@sorrym84215 жыл бұрын
It's not necessarily the fact that the track is wet. It's the threat of lightning storms. In Georgia lightning storms can form in minutes. But yeah, in this occasion it sounds like it was all bs. They were probably short staffed and had to think of some excuse to shut down a couple rides.
@tonyp88085 жыл бұрын
On this particular kid ride it will close. Poorly designed track leaves the platform sitting in couple inches of water. They don't tell guests that. Just say it's too wet.
@camikelly23565 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you went to Six Flags Over Georgia. That's my home park. I wish I could've come out to meet you, but I had a family reunion to attend. I can say from my experience that the operations are usually not that great. And the customer service can be disappointing, as well as the ride closures.

Cyclone was awesome when first opened after the RMC job. Now it seems the thrill of it has faded. Too short of a coaster for its layout to really be enjoyed. 90% of the park is black asphalt. If it's 85 or hotter out, the park will beat you up bad. Very little AC to escape to.
@user-yn1bd4yf3h4 жыл бұрын
Tony P That's why I think the Cyclone layouts are not fit for RMC conversions, as there's too little structure to work with on them. Twisted Cyclone is apparently really good, but I think it would have been better to give Georgia Cyclone a GCI renovation like GhostRider got and giving their other wooden coaster the RMC treatment instead
