Hi Ahmed! I'm a RN in Montreal. Discovered you channel a week ago and I love it! I'm planning to start NP school in 2022. Listening to you is really motivating. Can't wait for more of your videos!

This is why I decided to do FNP over psych np because of the flexibility of places to be able to work in

Pretty stupid comment. Psych is psych. Obviously you can’t work in other specialties. But with psych you can work Inpatient or outpatient which is a plus

Does it depend on the state if an fnp is allowed to work with a hospitalizar group? I have recently seen new fnp hired by major hospital groups. I think fnp are also allowed to specialize (cardio, Enzo, gi). That way you can do office and hospital rounds. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks for video.
@ahmed_np3 жыл бұрын
As an FNP you typically don't get any Hospitalist experience. Only Acute Care NPs do. Now some FNPs do work as Hospitalist and that's because the hospital or groups aren't strict about it and there isn't a law against it. It's just an increased liability since you're training does not reflect the work you do as a Hospitalist.
@gilbertvinzon30173 жыл бұрын
Hello, what about working as a hospitalist? I’ve seen FNP work in those field but as well as AGACNP. Which one is more preferred?
@ahmed_np3 жыл бұрын
AGACNP or acute care NP is preferred for a Hospitalist. There are some FNPs that do Hospitalist work but that will eventually stop because as an FNP you typically don't get any inpatient training. Hospitals are starting to require acute care certifications.
@albertsegura60342 жыл бұрын
They’ll take FNPs w experience sometimes. ACNP is mainly ICU as that is what your training consists of.

Hi Aisha, I went to The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. It was a great experience. Hybrid style, we went to campus to learn skills and practice on standardized patients. I felt like we did very little busy work and focused more on clinical medicine. Tuition was only 20k which is great. I highly recommend it. It does require a lot of self learning since you're not in class everyday. We had Skype lecture for 3 hours every week.

I’m Interested in working in the ER but nurse practitioner degrees seem so confusing to me as opposed to a PA degree. If I wanted to work in the ER as a nurse practitioner... do I obtain an FNP degree then go back for post certification as an ENP and that should qualify to work in the ER? Or do you likely still need a RNFA cert? any info helps, thank you for the content!

What's a recommended path for someone who wants to earn a DNP? Like from RN to MSN and finally DNP. I'm just not familiar with the specialties that should be chosen as someone who wants to be a CRNA (I know anesthesia school is needed after)
@ahmed_np3 жыл бұрын
For anesthesia you have to go to CRNA school after your BSN and ICU experience. They are all DNP. Google CRNA schools in your area and see what their requirements are.

Can anyone give me the answer if I must only go to PNP program to work in pediatrics? How can a FNP work as a PNP after finishing a FNP program? I heard at least 500 working time in pediatrics is required to become a PNP.
@mariposabonnie71393 ай бұрын
You can go for either PNP or FNP. I'd look at the providers' credentials in the clinics around where I'd like to work. A PNP whom I interviewed said she went to PNP school because she knew she only wanted to work with kids and the school availability. The clinic she works has more FNP than PNP in the pediatric department. She said job training after starting working was more significant than the difference of clinical hours in school clinical time between those two programs.

@ahmed_np2 жыл бұрын
You have to have a BSN which takes 4 years. Then your Master or doctorate that's takes 2.5-4years.

NP is not worth it. It is for the nurses who want to play doctor. It is a lot more studying, stress, and responsibilities for slight increase in pay. You know what I mean if you understand history of NP. They are basically substitute for residents. Also, demands for NP is not high as RN. I know dozens of RN who earned NP license but still working as a RN for not being able to find a job or the work is not what they expected to do.
@ahmed_np3 жыл бұрын
People go into it for many different reasons... Money is only one of them. Travel RNs are making great money now
