My own Hometown (Frankfurt) was severly destroyed in the war, my maternal grandmother was a refugee from western prussia and suffered their hole life from this experience. But May 8th 1945 was not only day of capitulation of the Wehrmacht it was the day of liberation of the german nation from Hitlers Regime because the German People could not have done this themself. The Palestinian People had to be liberated from Hamas

Israel should adopt one of the two following plans, in my humble opinion: 1. Give Egypt an ultimatum: either Gaza itself and its residents are fully under their sovereignty, or the people of Gaza are fully their responsibility. No third option! 2. Declare full sovereignty over Gaza and make it a full fledged part of Israel, but only after a very long (can be 5-10 years) process of de-Nazification: taking hold of the educational frameworks, the mosques (at least to the extent of preventing the way they are currently spreading anti Israel and anti Jewish propaganda), the entire civilian apparatus, and slowly granting full citizenship to the Gazans that want it, while helping the Gazans who don't want it to emigrate outside of Israel to a place of their choice.
@ginabisaillon28946 ай бұрын
Yes!
@reddragonready6 ай бұрын
Disagree with 2 because you cannot have a state with that many muslims in it and not lose jewish majority within a very short time...for obvious reasons that is a bad scenario. Disagree with 1 because..who exactly has the right to give another free nation such an ultimatum
@reddragonready6 ай бұрын
I think neither is feasible. The first isn't because what and who is supposed to give whom the right to put Egypt any such "ultimatum" and the second because it would lead within a very short time to an Israel in which jews are in the minority
@BenignViewer6 ай бұрын
@@reddragonready I agree with your first objection, but I do not think the second point is evident. The Hassidic (or Haredi) orthdox Jewish population in Israel is growing rapidly and have on average 6.64 children per family (which is higher than that of Israeli arabs and palestinians). I don't think the fear of a Jewish minority in Israel holds much weight, or is born out by the facts on the ground.
@klgamit6 ай бұрын
@@reddragonready Egypt is at least somewhat responsible for the situation that developed in Gaza: they refused from the start to supply them with almost any humanitarian aid, water, electricity and hardly any workplaces. All that fell on Israel, while on the other hand, Egypt's president inflamed the militant situation by turning a blind eye to weapon smuggling into the Strip that were made through the Sinai. So there is a logical basis to demand Egypt to play a more prominent role in solving this issue.. especially since Egypt is in a supposed peaceful relations with Israel since 1979. With regards to your second point about demographics: that's why I think this process should be done in stages, slowly enough so that it doesn't tip the demographics too much. It doesn't mean that in this transition period Palestinians will be completely without rights, there can be something similar to a green card process as well. At the end of the day, nothing can absolutely guarantee the demographic balance: the important thing to focus on is that citizens are integrated into the "Jewish" state, not in any theocratic sense. But the building of a Jewish society and discussion of what a Jewish nationality means, and how closely it is or isn't related to Judaism as a religion, is one of the many things Israel owes to itself to do and resolve, also because of internal tensions. My opinion is that one can belong to the Jewish nation regardless of his religion, but of course as we know that's not something a lot of Israelis believe in today, unfortunately to my mind.
