Six Months w/the FX Impact M3 & Element Optics Nexus - Shooting Slugs in an Air Rifle in .22 Caliber

For the last six months I've been (pretty) quietly working on a project gun...an FX Impact M3 in .22 caliber set up to shoot slugs. My modest goal was to set up a rifle so that I could hit more than miss between 100 and 200 yards. Assuming I get the range to target right, and call the wind correctly, I've achieved that goal and today I am ready to present that evidence in the form of some of the best scope camera footage of pest control that i've recorded to date.
Which brings me to the second reason for this video. I've taken the plunge and acquired an ‪@ElementOptics‬ Nexus. This scope represents the deepest I've dipped my toes into the quality scope end of the pool, and I am blown away every time I look through it. I'm not deluding myself that it is the best scope ever, but it is VERY NICE and it makes me wish all my scopes were as clear and bright. Any scope can look good at noon, but in the first and last minutes of the shooting day, the Nexus is brighter to my eyes than no scope, and that's why you write the check. Anyway, in this video I'm doing my best to show you what it looks like to use one, and I hope that alone is worth your time if you are thinking about getting one.

In this video I intend to show that the rifle is accurate, and that if I do my job it will do its' job. I've selected clips that showcase the Nexus/FireFly 8SE/SideShot ScopeCam combo quality, but also repeatable accuracy.

With velocities similar to a .22 LR that’s impressive bud. Hell of a hold over and adjustment for wind. Very cool where the technology has taken us in the past few years.

@@WiscAirGunners My biggest concern at this very moment sir is the attention the larger and more powerful calibers have brought to us. I’m very concerned that the “Left” will take away the things we love because of a few bad actors using them in ways they were NEVER intended sir. I’m very concerned for the future of our sport at the moment under this administration and the constant bragging of just how powerful these PCPs have become.

I've been using 28grn ZAN slugs, at 1015fps. 1st reg at 170, 2nd at 145, macro 16, micro at 4.2, valve at 4, getting 1" at 100yds.

awesome video pj 👌 I used to shoot slugs out of my mk2 25 cal 700mm sniper but once I got my m3 22 cal 700mm sniper edition I found it to be way more accurate than my 25 ccal pasted 100 yards it's my go to gun for long range shooting slugs awesome man thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍

Nice video, pretty amazing where pcp's have gone as well as slug tech in just a few years. I have the mkIII Wildcat BT in .22 and am just in love with this gun. Similar speeds and settings to your impact but using 26gr javelins. Thanks for your info and effort pard.

Great video bro. Can you post a link to those tri-pods? I added a Saber Tactical TRS to my MK II 30 cal, and I did it mainly to make sure it holds zero, which it does, but it also tightened up my groups even more at 75 yards (the length of my range) which is an added bonus. If it will clamp onto that carbon fiber shroud you have there, it may help you out as well.

I have a mk2 tuned to shoot JSB knockouts at 950. Primarily a pester and no problem reaching out to those long starling shots. I get two full mags or about 60 shots. I’m curious as to your shot count. It’s a .22 also.

A question about using the pellet probe with slugs. Are you using the pellet or slug port on the barrel? Have you tried the Huma enhanced pellet probe with the larger opening? Thanks.

I did use a pellet probe, but had a few slugs nosedive, and wound up with lead in my transfer port that I had to clean out. I went back to the standard probe and have left it at that. The issue was that the pin probe got bent. That got progressively worse as I kept using it. As to your first question, I’m using the slug port as it needs the airflow.

Hey pj so I have the same set up from hajimoto and I’m having a strange issue with the audio and video not in sync I’ll take a shot and the sound of the shot follows up waaay after the pellet has already left the barrel are you having the same issue and if so do you just fix it in the editing process?

No. That sounds like something is wrong in the Firefly. I’d try formatting the memory card and see if that helps, or just try a different card.
