Forget six-packs. Worry about visceral fat. Don't worry about subcutaneous fat.
@functionalaestheticse.c.8953Күн бұрын
Luckily, visceral fat is extremely easy to get rid off. In most cases, if not all, if you have a visible six pack you have acceptable levels of visceral fat. Subcutaneous fat is the first to be gained and the hardest to lose. Visceral fat is last to be gained and easiest to be used. Our bodies will gravitate naturally towards a healthy state if we give them the right environment.

I think people definitely have an overfixation on body fat. Low body fat has to equal good/healthy. When in reality, fat is healthy and natural. There’s a reason it’s so difficult to get the fat % down so much. At the end of the day it’s pretty unnatural

It can be if you build up to it.
@functionalaestheticse.c.8953Күн бұрын
Nope. About as healthy as walking around in bodybuilding contest shape year round. Both extremes. Hard on your body in different ways. You have to have a baseline level of health to run ultras and you need to be eating at or slightly above maintenance calories. If you plan your diet right, you are unlikely to suffer from nutritional deficiencies since you are not restricting calories. However, long term you could develop GI issues and orthopedic problems.

I don’t know. I have a 5 pack abs or rather I have to get my body fat % to unhealthy levels to see the divide. Don’t care. M I do 20 full stacks on the crunch machine with an added 45lb plate and 6 minute planks. That should be good enough for my 450lb DL and full stack oblique twists.

Losing your hair isn't a sign of bad health (most of the time). It's your genes - there is no cure. Male pattern balding runs in families.

@JeanDylanKevin How do you feel overall? You can be skinny and healthy and you can be a little chubby and healthy. It depends on your natural setpoint weight. Instead of focusing on aesthetics, focus on performance. Find the weight where you feel and perform at your best.

People are too obsessed with abs, even if you are only doing abs to show it off. Why even bother with a muscle that is barely visible throughout the year, you are much better off training your neck and traps because they are visible 24/7
@mirrorcube3709Күн бұрын
i train core extra but not to show off a six pack. i had a hernia many years ago and needed surgery. i train to have well developed core to help prevent further complications or surgeries there.

@functionalaestheticse.c.8953Күн бұрын
At the end of the day health has nothing to do with having or not having abs. It has to do with how you feel and perform. Some guys can be quite lean and feel and perform great. For most, 10-15% BF is a range where guys will feel and perform at their best. For most sports, being slightly leaner is a benefit. Super heavy divisions in strength and combat sports as well as ultra running being perhaps the exceptions.

I remember posting something on one of your videos, basically confirming what you were saying, and some NPD troll slammed me, bragging about his 6 pack at his age, and that I was fat - and everything he said was in conflict with what you were saying. Clearly he didn't see the video. That's the kind of d-bag who measures everything by a 6 pack (especially HIS) and I wonder if he ever had a truly happy day in his life! As to your point: I remember reading not so long ago about a study (or studies) that showed a decrease in longevity in those with 6 pack abs. On average. That having been said, it's inspiring to see how both you and Jesse keep yourselves lean and strong - safely and with good nutrition!

@Preston_SmithКүн бұрын
Sorry but the title of the video doesn't make any sense. It says " six pack abs don't mean you're healthy." Don't is actually short for do not so what you are saying is a six pack abs do not mean you are healthy. If you were working it right you would say " having a six-pack abs does not mean you are healthy."
@tandemmatt2 күн бұрын
Spot on. Also the ridges and how many "packs" you have is genetic. You may have a 1 or 2 pack and be shredded! The "6 pack" is not the standard in health.

Actually visceral fat is a good indicator that your liver is failing and all those other symptoms will eventually follow suit. Cancer is the only exception
@jimmcfarland93182 күн бұрын
People can have visceral fat with little external fat: it's called "skinny fat." I believe that this channel has addressed this issue more than once.
@gerihuginn2 күн бұрын
@ How do you get rid of visceral fat? The same way you get rid of subcutaneous fat. Diet. You can call it an extended diet but for people with flat stomachs it’s called a lifestyle
