I once had a customer who told me to call him every other week at a certain time... I did for a year and then he gave me the first order of $15k. He ended up buying about a quarter million a year from me, said I was the first sales person who had stuck it out more than 6 months... Great customer and extremely easy to deal with - other than calling for a year - for the next 10 or so years while I was in the paper industry.

huh the most important part of Sales is asking the question and listening to the problem they are working to solve. What I mean is if you are selling cars and you launch into speed handling etc and the prospect is a new dad and his hot point the solution he is looking for is safety you failed to qualify the person and their objection to your sale. So qualify by asking the questions and then aunch into your pitch, make sure your offer dovetails with their need and you will be successful. Pat is correct with all the rest of his Qualities of sales. But if you are selling the wrong sizzle you lose every single day of the week

Great advice overall although I disagree with some aspects of 'repetition' in how he explained it. I am a small business owner and there is nothing that turns me off as a pushy salesperson who continues to call me time and time again. I hate it and will go elsewhere if they push to hard. It shows me that they are either desperate or unable to recognize that my time is precious. The company Yelp calls me every week attempting to get me to advertise on thier platform. They are so annoying that I no longer even look or use Yelp because of their annoying REPETITION.

Great info, Pat. Thank you. Agree with almost all of them, especially the confidence one. However, for the follow up part just to follow up and ask how's everything and don't ask for the sale, I have a different perspective on it. Let me explain. When you're at that level, operating at high quality and service, both you and he customer know why you're calling. Of course, you might genuinely be interested in him and his family and that's even better, by my takeaway on it, especially when he's not a customer yet, is to ABC (always be curious) in how you can help and provide information, value, and help. Calling for just calling and checking him is a great idea, but calling and not asking for the sale while providing with something valuable is even better in my opinion. Concluding, great tips again, timeless advices.
