You might try finding a bait shop, or some other place that sells tiny minnows, and put one or two in there to see if she goes for them. It would be really neat to see her hunting something below the surface, since that's what these kinds of spiders are known for. Also, that enclosure is seriously awesome.

These are amazing. A bit of a sad story here, where I grew up in Lancashire, we had an area of wetland that had Fen Spiders populating the area... It was redeveloped in the 80s and we lost that habitat and the amazing flora and fauna that lived there. Videos like this are educational though, and help people appreciate the unseen nature around them.

I absolutely love how how you gave it a semi-aquatic set-up. I'm sick of people getting a cool animal just for the sake of having it and don't provide it the enrichment or habitat requirements it needs to thrive. Surviving is not thriving friends. Good on you Mark!!

I'm so happy you made another great enclosure. And if they don't want to see anything being eaten than don't want a feeding video lol. I think may be getting stuff from your local pond or someone earlier mentioned fish from a bait shop... that's a great idea. Would love to see her hunting under the water. In fact they are so interesting I would have one myself! I look forward to further videos

Hello Mark, what happened to your H Gigas? Did you make it a 50/50 aquarium/vivarium? Now I enjoy watching the T videos, conquering my fear, Thankyou for your nice reply, I love watching the TARANCHULA PROJECT UTUBE CHANNEL with CAIN THE H GIGAS digging his tunnels and hunting minoes and feeder goldfish, doing water gymnastics and swimming and diving, and taking the fish down into his tunnel. Amazing to watch, never gets boring. Have you seen the videos I'm talking about Mark on that channel? Also TARANCHULA GUY 76 or 79 (always forget which number) his amazing tank with diving H GIGAS. Have you seen that video too? Amazing.

great vid, first for food supply i would recommend just a simple pet store with common small fish that you can buy in batches, also i would recommend clearing a small portion the vegetation within the water as the spider uses vibration within the water to locate their prey and thick vegetation can mess with the vibration causing the spider to become inaccurate. Like i said do not remove the plant, just trim it down a bit and i think you will find she will have a much more enjoyable time hunting.

Wow such a unique spider! I know you mentioned how some folks might not want to see it catch fish, but feeder guppies/minnows might be really interesting without offending too many people. My brother used to raise them but would donate extras to our science class's salamander

it is funny to see these as pets. growing up in south georgia we always referred to these things as "hell no" spiders lol imagine canooing, its peaceful and ahhh shoot the light current takes you into a low hanging branch or log; you put your hand up to push off and one of these big bastards is right there by your hand.....then you look around and discover you are surrounded by them.

I wish I could tell if mine was a male or female. It walked up to me on my carport! I thought it was a wolf spider till I got it housed and took a look! It eats everything in sight!! I can't tell if the end of the pedipalps are bigger or not.
@gottasplit57074 жыл бұрын
This is awesome! Just found this channel because I was researching a Six Spotted Fishing Spider that is currently eating bugs off the surface of my swimming pool here in FL. So interesting to watch! Just wondering, will the spider survive only eating small insects that get trapped in the water, or does it need larger prey like the cricket you fed yours in the video? If it needs larger prey I'll have to figure out a way to relocate it to a nearby pond. If not, it's not bothering anyone where it is.
@MarksTarantulas19804 жыл бұрын
The spider is more than capable catching small fish maybe its just having a snack 😀👍thanks for watching

Did you know that semi-aquatic spiders captured fish whose body length exceeded the spiders’ body length (the captured fish being, on average, 2.2 times as long as the spiders) and evidence suggests that fish prey might be an occasional prey item of substantial nutritional importance. So, throw it a fish :)
@christopher.d.parks.55 жыл бұрын
It's probably a tadpole, but you should def put a pump and filter in. You could've made a small waterfall down the left of the bank.
