Let me just say this: others may not be able to move (or at least as well as this one can), but all spiders can float on the surface of water. When they do become submerged, air bubbles are created all over its body so it can hold its breath for hours. The reason why flushing them down the sink/drain is so bad is because the chemicals not only cause them to sink, but they also cannot create the air pockets on their bodies, meaning they drown.

Dude. I live on a lake and have a dock, boat, and tube for tubing. Every time my brother and I would go to the lake there would be the biggest, hairiest Fishing Spider chilling inside of our tube.
