We've been meaning to make bunk beds or loft beds for our kids for years. Glad we waited to pick a design that worked best for us. This video shows how to make loft beds (works for bunk beds too) with minimal tools. The beds are super strong without hardware or screws showing. You can make these in one day with little experience and customize them in so many ways.
Also included are how to make a desk for underneath the bed and a shelf to act as a mini table up on top of the bed. This is great for water bottles, books, and more.

The sander I use has amazing possibilities that virtually eliminates all hand sanding. Seriously. Particularly using their foam abrasive pads, I was able to clean up any burn residuals in no time. I'm planning on making loft beds for my boys and am going to try to incorporate heavy duty drawer rails so I can slide the mattresses out for easy sheet changes.

I love the simple straightforward directions, without unnecessarily complicating it with plans. I will be using your video to build my 15 year olds loft bed with his help... thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I also love the fact that you involve your kids in the projects... good job Dad!!! I will let you know how it goes 😁

One thought, with bunk beds. The person on the top bunk during a fire in the house can be a death sentence. If the person sits up when they hear the alarm, go off and they take a breath, they may be breathing in hot enough air enough to collapse their lungs. Roll out of bed and exit the room. Bend down and move as fast as you can. The bed and desk look really good.

I’ve been trying to design a double loft bed for my girls with absolutely NO experience building anything ever lol. I had written down the design on graph paper before I’d seen this video 😂 but since we rent I’m not going to secure it in the wall studs instead I’m using 4x4’s for support. The only thing that keeps messing me up is accounting for the room the 4x4’s take up inside the bed and making sure the mattresses still fit. But this was very very helpful, especially leaning about pocket screws that I’ll definitely be figuring out.

Awesome project. I love how detailed you get. Could you please please do a video on your drum sander? I just bought the 19/38 from laguna and me being a rookie I'm not very informed on it. I get most if it yeah but laguna customer service is not great at all. I've got it set up and running but I'm getting bad snipe on the Indeed side only. When I run it thru the part that comes out first has bad snipe on it. Please help

Great video! I'm planning to build something similar for my daughter and really like the idea of using pocket holes. However, since I've never used them before, I'm curious about how to correctly determine the pilot hole depth and angle for 2x4s.

Pocket holes are great. What’s awesome about the pocket hole jig is it auto adjusts depending on the material thickness. The kreg and armor tool systems are great, but this one is my favorite for 2x4s: amzn.to/3vf2XF7

@@SixEightWoodworks thanks for the reply! The thing I don't understand is when your fastening the 2x10 through the pocket hole into the 2x4, are you drilling pilot holes into the 2x4 before connecting them? If so, how do you make those holes? Sorry, it may be something obvious and I'm just missing it.
