I have a few questions. Can i coil split my Humbucker with just a two way switch ? And can i combine this with the gilmour wiring ? And how can i combine this wiring with the gilmour wiring? Instead of the two way switch in the gilmour wiring video, can i use the two way switch from the fender jazzmaster ? Thanks!

What's the sound difference if you have the screw coil active when you split the pickup? Does it sound any different?
@ActualCoverage2 жыл бұрын
What if it's two pickups? I've got Seymour Duncan Pickups Hot Rodded (SH-2n & SH-4) JB / Jazz Set. Can both pickups be split with just one knob? I have a Levinson Blade strat, and the tone pot has a the push pull which orginaly split the bridge pickup, but I'd like to use it to split both of the seymour humbuckers. if possible.

Ooooooh I love your idea of shrink-tubing the output jack's "tip hot" wire like that! I can see 2 benefits to that *1* :protects wire from stress and *2* :keep the hot wire from being grounded out on anything metal on the jack or cavity shielding. I will be stealing that little trick if you don't mind and I've been wiring/fixing my own guitars since the 90's. Really goes to show you that we can always learn something. Thanks man!

Q- Lock down inspired DIY'r here. I'm refitting a T style guitar with new pickups and wiring. Stock, it came with a single in the bridge and full size humbucker at the neck, mounted at the pickguard. I have a lil59 on hand and 4 wire humbucker to use as replacements for the stock pups. The stock control plate is a US fender with one volume one tone and 3way,all to be upgraded. At this point, I'm leaning towards the BKP CTS custom push pull 280k pots and an Oaks Grisby 3way. I want to be to split both bridge and neck if possible and keep the control plate as one volume and one tone pot. Is this plausible or do I need to lose the tone pot and run two volume pots? Would I need to use a 4way switch to do so? I'm not married to the idea but I do want to keep it as straightforward as possible largely because I lack the soldering skills or confidence to complicate the build beyond what has taken me a bit to understand at this point. Any advice or opinions are kindly appreciated and considered. Note, I'm not trying to obtain an authentic telecaster sound for this guitar, I intend to use it as a D standard heavier but not metal rhythm option. Stay safe and well all, thank you for the remarkable videos, I could watch this guy solder all day, his work is impeccably clean and his explanations are comprehensive and easy to understand. ✌️🎶🎶

I have a lot of questions, I did not see the full video, I do not speak English, I understand something, but I prefer to ask by comment. Does this pot only split one of the guitar humbuckers? and when dividing will only use one of the two coils? I mean you can't switch between the two coils of the humbucker, right?

Great video! I’m rewiring/ replacing pickups on a H-S-S configuration SuperStrat style Samick guitar with a single volume and single tone, a five way blade selector switch and a mini toggle. I’m using Dimarzio pickups- a Satch Track single coil sized humbucker in the neck, an Air Norton S in the middle (also a single coil sized humbucker), and a “proper” Super Distortion humbucker in the bridge. I have a five position blade and a mini toggle switch (which is for coil splitting the bridge humbucker in the original wiring). How would I wire these so that I can coil split or coil tap the neck and middle humbuckers to a single push pull volume pot? You could point me to the appropriate video if you have made any such. Thanks again- your videos are awesome and lucid, and I’ve used it to wire up a Gilmour style black Strat successfully.

When splitting a humbucker with a 500 K push pull tone pot, the split humbucker still sees a 500 K tone pot. It needs to have a 500 K resistor in the circuit to bring that 500 K Tone pot down to 250 K to give it a more single coil sound. Where in this push pull pot would you mount such a resistor?

On a wiring diagram I have from Seymour Duncan, which doesn't use push pull pods, it shows red/white from both pickups going to a 5-way selector switch, so If I solder those wires to the push pull pots, will everything still work? I hope I explained that right. I basically have to 500K push pull pots, one volume and one tone and a 5-way selector switch that I'm trying to wire.

Thanks for the video, some quick questions, please. Can the red/white coil splits be routed behind the pc board instead of in front? I'll melt the insulation if I route the wires and solder the eyelet if I route in front of the eyelet. For the grounds (my project is a single cts volume pot with a treble bleed, two coil split humbuckers, and a three way toggle (upgrading an import Washburn Nuno N24) my worries are the 7 grounds. Can I solder both the green and bare in addition to a ground to eyelets 1 and 3. I was planning a bare wire ground on 1 and 3 behind the pc board, similar to the coil splits you did on another video. I just don't know if ground wires need to be isolated or if they can be joined to minimize the grounds on the pot casing? Thanks again

Hi there. Thanx for your video! I was looking for this. I have 2 humbuckers in my guitar and I want to coil split them. But I would also like to switch the phase from them when they are in single coil mode so that they sort of humbuck again. To get they Brain May kinda sound. Is there a special switch for that and wire diagram. I checked seymour duncan already but I could not find a diagram for that. Also they like to avoid phasing. Hehe.
