Nice video but I wouldn’t recommend it, some windshields when you push up from the inside the crack gets bigger, it can even split into different directions also so yes drilling the crack at the end will keep it from spreading, most people will push up and the crack will get bigger and split into an entire new crack. Just spend the $150 get a new windshield

Worked wonderfully on a 9" windshield crack started by a rock hit at the bottom left drivers side. Instead of using grease on the suction cups , I actually used those cups to press the sealer into the crack with heavy pressure since the length of the crack was relatively short. Thanks for posting, it worked!!

Thanks a lot dude. I noticed a small crack in the glass vista roof on my Mustang. This is about a $2000 piece of glass. Looked at it a couple of hours later and it had started running. It grew from about an inch to around four inches in a very short time just from changing ambient temperature I guess. No professional on-site options were quickly available so I hit You Tube and eventually ran across your tutorial here. I ran to Wally World, picked up this kit and with the help of my Dremel and diamond bit stopped the crack in it's tracks and made a professional looking repair. The crack is only visible at the perfect angle in the perfect light. Totally un-noticeable if you are not looking for it. Thanks for sharing brother.

Great job dude!!! The windshield of my Corolla 2021 has been hit by something and now there is a chip and a 15" crack!!! I started watching videos of DIY and imagined what if I put paper/tape/plastics/ or something that followed the same line of the crack and applied with a razor, a needle, and a syringe, but your idea is the best; now I know how to stop and repair the damage until I can pay $1000 DLLs for the replacement of a new one. @@WaveAction777 I discovered a long crack this morning that starts from the bottom of the windscreen it is about 4 inches long at first I thought maybe a stone hit it which can't be possible because it's just a long line no round circle, but now that I have read your comment I suspect it was me leaving the engine running with the heater at max in the winter to defrost
@TheSimoc Жыл бұрын
@@thefullenergychannel2879 It is usually those combined. Heater alone shouldn't cause the glass to crack, but it may initiate the cracking from a small stone hit. And yes, the stone hit not nearly always makes a circular crack, it is often even unnoticeable small dot, from which a single or multiple cracks later begins to spread.

@@sixtyfiveford I'm so glad to hear that.. I just installed a visor on my 97 Explorer and an old chip finally cracked out. Was very frustrating, for obvious reasons.. Of course, I'm not in as difficult of a position as you were with an entire overhang from a camper body over the cab/front windshield lol, I suppose I did truly have the option to just take off the visor and change out the windshield, but I digress. Hahaha. I tried both the cheaper autozone kit that you didn't use in the video (by Permatex,) and then I tried this kit that you showed in the video.. My results were varied, the Permatex one uses an adhesive "donut" that is like what you'd use to stick on a phone mount in your interior of your truck. It ripped, and failed, and after one use, did not continue to work as the resin does not agree with the adhesive that the foam pad uses. My goal was to try to end the crack, like you did, and then fill it (which worked! and also did not work!) because once I got the RainX tool that is the same design as the one you use in the video, I discovered one problem.. The suction/vacuum tip is very small. So the one issue it did have was it would not work on parts of the crack I "dug out" with a razor blade. At least reliably. It would suck in and blow out air through the "valley" of the crack, whereas the other tool did not have that issue but it lasted literally two attempts and is 100% use once then dispose.. I would say the tool you used is the go-to especially if you have any regular chip damage. It is definitely meant to go on a single divot / chip. The resin in the kit like the one you showed in the video is VERY fumey.. But that makes me think it probably works better. It seemed to spread better in the actual crack. Tomorrow I'm going to try to fill more of the visible part of the crack by drilling a "chip" over the crack, and see if that makes it basically disapper. I can't thank you enough for this video, if I had not seen this and saw your method I would've thought I was totally SOL. The windshield for my truck is about $150 raw, without labor. I could install my own, but since this windshield had no major chipping or damage or wear... I felt stupid having to replace it. My insurance does a deductable for repair, so no thanks. I'm the deductable now. And, to what end would I be replacing a windshield? Just to risk another chip and do it all over again? Pffff. We "fix" stuff around here. There's also a point where if I spend so much $ on the truck, I should just stop putting money into it and buy a V8 with less miles. LOL Sorry for the long winded reply. I'm just really thankful for your video. And hearing it lasted a long time... That makes me feel better that I didn't totally waste my time, knowing damn well I'm not a professional and if I want it fixed fixed I need a professional. Hahaha. Appreciate you!!

Great video and results! How much resin are you using? I don't see you putting any additional resin into the tool.

It doesn't take much. You only put in a few drops at a time.
