I have tons of screwdrivers so if they don't have a brand name I generally assume the steel is pretty cheap and just toss them into the junk screwdriver box. I would choose these cheaper wood handled ones or even acetate handles over the cheap abs plastic handled ones.

With a Dremel rotary tool, you could re-grind a Phillips into an E-clip remover; and a flat blade into an E-clip installer. Those 4-in-1 screwdrivers are good for that (Small and Large in one tool). Sure beats using the wrong tool for the wrong job. If you magnetize it, it's even better. You could also cut threads onto the shank and use the handle as a drawer-pull, or accessory to some other tool. When all else fails, You could always cut off the flat blade and use it as a wedge to tighten hammer-handles.

Folded the tip over on a flathead to just past 90, as sort of a flat wide pick. Use it all the time for cleaning out grooves, pulling out valve spools etc. Usually use it with a crescent wrench as a mini slide hammer puller.

Great video!!!! Love your channel--one of the very few I have subscribed to. Some other uses: (1) Hammer a hex bit holder (like for a drill) into the handle and presto--a new driver for all hex bits. Can do long or stubby. May need to enlarge the hole, but leave it tight so it won't turn in the handle. Can also heat an old nail and use it to soften the he hole in the handle a little first, or put in some epoxy first; (2) hammer an allen wrench (hex key) into a small handle for often used sizes, such as set screws in tools, electrical connectors (also provides insulation as added bonus), or even the handle on the storm door that keeps getting lose; (3) cut off the end of the free paint can openers from the box stores and hammer either end into the handle to make either a paint can opener or a bottle opener; Hammer an often used drill bit into the handle to make a hand drill. The uses are endless.

those vise grip brand channel locks you are using are my favorite pair of pliers i own. you can get so much grip/leverage off the biggest ones

I really like them as well. They are made by NWS in Germany for Irwin. So much better than the old slip groove pliers.

I didn’t look at all the comments to see if anyone else did this, but I made a long roll pin driver out of a screwdriver. It was way longer than anything else I had and a cheap screwdriver was just the ticket.

Old slotted screwdrivers make great scrapers. Also nice for removing backup rings from bores. Wire ring removal too!

You can cut a simple notch off the middle of a stanley and use it as a tire valve remover. It's much sturdier than the plastic ones. Love your channel. Keep up the great work!

I've replaced all my small file handles with golf balls. I find they fit better in the palm of my hand for better control. Old screw drivers make great ice picks.

I had been planning on thinning out the number of screwdrivers I have....now instead of tossing them I can put them to good use - thanks.

Great video. I have been making awls and square awls from old screwdrivers for years. Now I will try to make some file handles, too. Maybe some heavy duty picks as well. Hard to beat the Harbor Freight four pack of picks for small jobs!

I heat up old medium size flat blade screwdrivers with a propane torch and bend the tip at a slight angle to make paint can openers. It give me more leverage and control.

DUDE!!! gth out of my brain!! Ive been doing tbis for over 40 years and have my favorite sheet metal work punch was an el cheapo stubby fuller looking screwdriver that met a bench grinder circa 1980 or 81ish... Picks I've made dozens of em and a lot of then were specialty picks for just that one job that have came in handy a dozen times or more down through the years...and my file drawers look a lot like yours except I used a bunch of old matching Crap-On handles that I gave like 15 bux for the entire 15 piece set at a flea market 30 years ago and the ends were all about trashed... Haooy haooy happy New Years bud !

i've got a couple of boxes of crap garage sale tools that came in the tool box i was actually buying. it's amazing to me how many people will fill a good box with crap tools, rather than the other way around. the file handle idea is a good one. i use junk wrenches as brackets and braces for projects and when i need to modify a wrench for a one time use already.
